Lets be honest, if they had the slightest clue about logistics they would have taken kiev before any major resistance started

The battle of Antonov Airport pretty much sealed the deal there or so I'm led to believe.

Not so much a battle, more like an abject failure?

I seem to recall Russian forces took the Airport and then lost it shortly after to advancing Ukrainian forces if memory serves.

Sent them packing with their Russian tails between the legs.

In the process, Putin lost the greater part of their special forces units.

They also managed to destroy that great big irreplaceable Antonov An-225 Mriya.

every special trained unit I knew about has been ground into dust because their tactical application was done as well as their logistics.

Explain why he thinks the Germans discussing sending missiles to Ukraine is a big deal, when the UK is already sending missiles to Ukraine, and the UK hasn't been nuked yet despite Medvedev's drunken outbursts. Sir Humphrey doesn't think much of the author, Simon Jenkins:

Clichés, Falsehoods and Lies - Debunking Simon Jenkins Guardian Article

This article is helpful primarily though for reminding us that the hard won freedom of speech, defended by women and men who are willing to put their lives on the line and spend months away from home doing difficult jobs in dangerous conditions is magnificently demonstrated and upheld by the Guardian producing this nonsense. Freedom of speech means giving people the ability to type absolute garbage, say what they want and not be afraid of censors, arrest or torture. It is a shame that the opposition in Russia do not enjoy the same luxury of basic human rights that Mr Jenkins is able to exercise here.
That refers to a different garbage article by Jenkins but at least he's consistent.

I think this graph proves Jenkin's claim that " sanctions on Russia, they have failed miserably" is false. They have had a measurable effect even according to Russia's own figures here, they are now operating in the red:

That's a re-post from the Joe Blogs video I posted earlier in this thread, and it uses data directly from the Russian ministry of finance, published online.

Here's another graph also based on data from the Russian ministry of Finance, showing sanctions have not "failed miserably", there is a large drop shown in this graph post sanctions:

Sanctions and Russia’s War: Limiting Putin’s Capabilities

This is not what a "miserable failure" looks like, India is Russia's second biggest customer of Russian oil, and the sanctions are having an effect:

India's oil imports from Russia hit 12-month low in Jan as sanctions bite

India's crude oil imports from its top supplier Russia fell for a second straight month in January to their lowest in a year as tighter Western sanctions hit supply of light sweet Sokol grade, preliminary ship tracking data showed.

The world's third-biggest oil importer and consumer boosted imports of Iraqi oil to offset the drop in Russian oil imports, according to the data.
Russia is getting through their deficit now by depleting their national reserves (NWF=National Wealth Fund) but those reserves are finite and once depleted, the deficit will be more crippling, and something will have to give.

Jenkins mentions economic growth in Russia but the growth is all military, so I would hesitate to paint that as any kind of rosy picture, as it's certainly not rosy for the inhabitants of Russia to have so much of their labors directed at producing things that are destroyed on the battlefield. If the economy was producing something more useful like cars, refrigerators or washing machines, the growth would be more impressive.

I suppose the guy is entitled to his opinion.

But feck the pope if that is how he feels.

People have been saying the same to something similar.

Regarding the Holy Roman Church of St Peter for the better part of 2000 years.

And I notice they are not paying much attention or surrendering their coffers to the poor.

Wait until Vatican City is under siege and see how he feels about the matter.

The point is, over two years down the line despite all the death and destruction Putin still hasn't overran Ukraine.
We can split fanny hairs as much as you want but its irrelevant whether it was 3 days, 10 days or 14 days the reality is Putin expected his troops to blitzkrieg their way across the whole of Ukraine very, very quickly......and they failed miserably.

They are now involved in a WWI style war of attrition.

Please do not try to portray this invasion as a military success story for Putin, it has been a spectacular failure and has harmed Russia's reputation in so many different ways.

Not sure what your point is, or if it was directed to me originally.

I was asking Kenzo for the source where Putin officially stated he can “take it within 3 days”.

And he/she couldn’t.

Simple as that. It wasn’t directed at others on their opinions or “feelz” etc

lol

This is an open forum, people can comment on any post they like provided they remain within site T&C's.

And the thing is, I don't really give a toss about 'feelz'.

If you can't understand the point I was making well I'm afraid that says far more about your comprehension skills than it does anything else.

"I was asking Kenzo for the source where Putin officially stated he can take it within 3 days."

For goodness sakes?

No one has ever stated he ever 'officially stated" that?

You are simply being dishonest.

He doesnt care, saw a thing a day or so ago where they had to boost him into the pope mobile he couldn't manage the steps.

Good chance he is in the last few years at best as pope, possibly in life.

When this silly guy in white says something that is not totally stupid and irresponsible, somebody please wake me up. That will be news. He has no moral authority whatsoever. His idol, Putin, despises him, he didn't agree to meet him probably out of contempt... and rightfully so.

Defending one's motherland at the price of one's life is a moral obligation. Preserving the human lives has never been the highest law in Christianity. More important has been sacrifice in the name of God's law as the example of the holy martyrs show. The Church teaching has become crap nowadays. It's moving further and further away from the tradition.

The Russians agents that were evaluating the most likely scenario ,whispered the information to Putin . I remember the early days of this war when there was even articles how badly Putin was informed, it does not matter was it 2 days, 3days or 2 week ....the point was they thought it will be quick ride , few days + to take Kiev , they even expected that Ukrainians will cheer the invaders....

Putin thought it will be quick .

The articles talk about the 3 day because that was what the Russian agents had in mind according to sources familiar to this matter .

Are you really making up big issue with this....+- few days ....it`s now over 2 years ...that`s how wrong they were

I would guess they had a cadre of operators who were competent but those guys got whittled down being used as shock troops; military establishments have a bad habit of misusing special forces outfits. Today, the "old veteran" is probably an ex-convict who has managed to survive for a month on the front lines.

Cheers
