As far as I can tell the only 'de-escalation gestures' are demands that Ukraine agrees to all of Putin's demands - which is in essence a surrender - before talks can start.

The reality is that it has sod all to do with the EU or anyone else apart from the Ukrainian people....and from what I'm seeing they have no desire or intention to roll over and allow themselves to be dictated to.

The extremists on the far-left apperently aren't good with diplomacy.

It's just a response, a reaction to the media labeling anything right as "far" right or fascist... every article mentioning Republicans is equated to "far-right"

They did publish that speech here in Europe, and most of Europe immediately said 'nope'.

Ppl don't want this gas crisis, but they also don't want to give Putin what he wants.

There is no diplomacy here, certainly not from Russia's side. Like I said, no one is going to let Putin take whatever he wants. He will have to take this much much further before that happens.

And yes, I think every European civilian knows that they don't exactly have a say in any of it. Just like the people Kherson and Donesk didn't have a say in any of it.
