Indeed, on a personal level, who wouldn't I guess. But do you think you might be one of he special few who might be able to afford it or do you think that it would be available to all of us and if so, what would that mean do you think.

Christians.

We wouldn't the whole idea of doing just that last stupid move of eating from the tree of life while in this destroyed state of ours is insanity!

I think that there's a good probability that my generation is, hopefully with the advances in science, is either the first generation to live forever or the last generation that's going to die," Kushner said. "So we need to keep ourselves in pretty good shape."

Makes little sense, they said they can turn back the clock make muscles new and strong again and hair recolor in other words be young again, why feel the need to "stay in shape"!

Read up on this guy, after they found him it was a done deal.

Does the immortal jellyfish live forever?
A tiny jellyfish named Turritopsis dohrnii is capable of living forever, Motherboard reports. Only discovered in 1988, the organism can regenerate into a polyp—its earliest stage of life—as it ages or when it experiences illness or trauma.

Jared Kushner says he's been trying to keep his body in shape because he might one day become immortal

LOL
And what a body!
LOL

A carbon based body isn't going to keep on going for eternity. You'll need to replace the parts, eventually, all the parts. Does he plan to farm body parts too?

The trick to "immortality", or living a really, really long time, is knowing who you are without a body at all. Self loathing people, like humans tend to be, carrying around shame, regrets and grudges, need to die a kind of death and be reborn, to start over.

I like the idea of Star Trek's transporter tech. In theory, all your atoms are reconfigured at another place and time. If that could be done, it doesn't have to be the exact same atoms, they could be found at the new site. With this kind of tech, there is no reason not to reconfigure the body to perfect health, every time. Even design it to look however you would want.

As long I guess as the science that goes into it is diversified, that is developed from a wide range of R and D and not controlled by a few. I think you have a good point here.

totally agree and i do believe it will be pieced together over the next 50-75 years from different sources.

The pressures of a modern society at this point seem to be beyond what modern science is capable of achieving. What do you think?

honestly im not even sure what we are capable of , science/tech wise, at this very moment. the world has gotten so big, fast, and smart that by the time we hear about it its already old . just a year or two ago i was marveling at a printed heart and today we are hearing about growing mice... what is ACTUALY happening ...well, who knows lol

im not sure , exactly , what you mean by "pressures of a modern society" but i dont believe there is anything science/tech cant overcome.

Sure is.

What if your mindset gets stuck in a certain decade (or century) and life is just unwanted change for eternity?

What if you truly love another immortal and they chose to call it quits?

What if you couldn't truly love anyone anymore after the 200th time?

What if immortality is so fuggin bland after a while?

What if people still argue passionately over bull# you have shaken off a millennia ago?

It's either utter loneliness or insanity, or both.

Would seeing another twirly whirly galaxy be all that cool or would you just dive headlong into the first blackhole you can find?

Remember the intensity of your first love?

Get ready for a copy of a copy of a copy.

I think the fact that our time is so limited is what gives it its value.

beat who?

the power mongers that would control every aspect of your life if people like you seem to be let them.

our society needs people.. a lot more people... and people who live much longer ... if we are going to start stepping off this rock.

real life will never be like star trek or some utopian dream, when space travel becomes reality for the masses for say more than a year, probably even then it will be automated suspended sleep cycles, generational or automated, or a combination of both. then you have to think about supplies, such as enough food and water to feed that bunch of people.

you seem to think its a one shot kinda deal like in my example.

then why did you say that way if that's not what you meant? bio engineering is what your talking about, whether it splicing at the genetic level, nano tech to repair telomeres, dna and organs, printing, growing, organs, your altering the natural process of the humans body to extend life past it's normal cycle.

so why wouldnt the "rich elite" love their employees being immortal and send them on mining trip that take 10 years each?

they would if their employees couldn't reason or think for themselves, if they could keep them stupid and satisfied and only follow instructions, it would be great for them. but if the employees could think for themselves, and have reasonable intelligence they could revolt and and have at least 10 years before any body could get to them. the majority of people don't like being controlled no matter how pleasant it is made to seem if they can think for themselves. hell even people that have severe mental handicaps get tried of sh@@. sooner or later somebody is going to rise up, unless they don't know any better

now if we are talking about engineering "people" to be organic robots ... well this is big scifi and at that point id say someone will start transferring minds to those immortal robots on the black market

see my answer to the the 4th quote as for people revolting.

I heard it from this Guy, and I found it quite enlightening, I think he states it early on if the length of video is off putting, I probably didn't watch the whole thing come to think about it.

How would it affect our political systems ?

Terry my good member this is where the ancient scriptures become
a treasure trove of information that in turn acts as a leaf spring for
knowledge. You can choose to limit your knowledge by ignoring
information. But to reject information simply because it is in an
ancient text or because of secular bias is true ignorance. I'm
pretty sure you would agree.

I been here a long time so any one can check my views never change.
BTW thanks for the thread and for reading my reply. Now I don't believe
for a second. That you see this Kushner as someone isolated in his hopes
and aspirations of immortality.

This is "The ancient promise" that GW Bush even mentioned in a speech
back when he was POTUS. Truth is this has been the agenda of people
who share a guarded knowledge. The leaders of this world all share
this knowledge. And that's why they have an agenda that causes questions
about the motives of politicians.

If information is guarded then it must be guarded from someone. That
would be you and I and everyone like us. The knowledge of the ancient
promise is what separates the classes. This promise makes immortality
the goal. The goal which is the promise is the agenda you don't understand
because the knowledge is guarded by telling us God does not exist.

They have deceived the whole world trying thru generations to fulfill
what you never understand without the one key they can't do anything
about. And you at least understand that if they could've eliminated that
key? They would have. You can't understand any movie by starting in
middle. You wun't know what's happening. Unless you've read the book

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God…”

The truth is by using the word immortality allows them to communicate
without hurting the secular view they all promote. To keep us in the
dark.

source

These people don't just want immortality because immortality stuck here
on this planet would become a curse. And there is no book to tell you
this truth.

Yeah, "immortal" as long as you don't slip in the bathtub, step in front of a bus or get stabbed in a robbery. Imagine a world where everyone eventually dies from only 2 possibilities - an accident or murder.

there would seem to be something missing/not right
less than all human in fact
and i would include zuckerburg in the same catagory
anyway
the only way you are going to live for ever is to make JESUS the cornerstone
of your life

soo.. im supposed to fight against some nebulous "them"? sounds like a way to brainwash people to me.

maybe im a few hundred years but to start mining our own system ... we wont wait for that . why create a generational mining ship and have to take care of thousands when you can make the crew immortal and send 100?

then why did you say that way if that's not what you meant? bio engineering is what your talking about, whether it splicing at the genetic level, nano tech to repair telomeres, dna and organs, printing, growing, organs, your altering the natural process of the humans body to extend life past it's normal cycle.

thats called an example and is used for illustrative purposes. i dont think some company will come out tomorrow with the one shot solution. it will be gradual and attack the problem from many different directions culminating in immortality

they would if their employees couldn't reason or think for themselves, if they could keep them stupid and satisfied and only follow instructions, it would be great for them. but if the employees could think for themselves, and have reasonable intelligence they could revolt and and have at least 10 years before any body could get to them.

so you dont think people, today, stay with a business for ten years or more? im beginning to think you just dont like people and are fighting smoke and shadows... always thinking "they" are out to get you lol. id go with a.i. takeover before "shadow cabal that runs the world" but even if you are right ... welll... they have already won because.....

the majority of people don't like being controlled no matter how pleasant it is made to seem if they can think for themselves. hell even people that have severe mental handicaps get tried of sh@@. sooner or later somebody is going to rise up, unless they don't know any better

tell that to the entire left in the u.s.a. they love being controlled as long as it doesnt break their spell ... keep feeding them the propaganda and there is no telling what you can make a brainwashed person do.

look at Shapiro today... his mere presence is dangerous now ... thats genocide talk right there... and half of my country, is willing to follow the left to the brink.

the fact is history has shown us that you cant stop progress ... no politics, no war, no person, no circumstance has EVER stopped it and time and time again those who have tried have been left to the wastebin of history. discarded.

the only real question is will we be here when it happens.

The same thought crossed my mind as well. Maybe it's what little thought he has really put into this whole issue. And that is the point of my making this thread, to bring up issues that seem never to arise in most common discussions. It's not a simple ''oh by, look what we can do now''. It's much more complicated than that.

This sounds as if you are going the re-incarnation route in your thinking. From what I've read on it there are basically two perspectives. One is the you reap what you sow from bad karma when you come back and the other is much more to my liking that we ''choose'' how to come back for whatever reasons we have. If you are thinking along these lines that in a human future there is the potential to make vehicles for incarnating souls ''perfect'' then why not huh? I had not given that a thought though it is intriguing. Perfect bodies capable of life for hundreds and hundreds of years. Maybe there would be a line of souls ready to incarnate into them.

But at this point though part of the beauty of most human incarnations is the imperfections and levels of suffering that that require will power to deal with. And that's only if incarnation is real.

I once held that faith in science though now I am not so sure. Rather the rapidity of scientific knowledge and the products it allows may be creating a world out of reach of repair. Immediately comes to mind, plastic. For the short while we have had plastic it served a great purpose but now we are finding that there are huge islands floating in the ocean that no on knows how to deal with, and that being only one example of where science got a head of the rest of human endeavor.
