Are you a man or woman? Respectfully, that matters.

I am a man that has 2 kids one full grown the other half grown.

I took custody of the older one and raised him myself.

The ex asked if I wanted her to get an abortion I said no so I have a bit of insight.

There are better alternatives like a man willing to do the right thing and take responsibility for the new life he helped make.

As a pro choice parent , would you support your daughters right to abort her child & your future grandchild ?

That actually hits home for me. My daughter has some medical issues that could severely complicate any pregnancy.

So...

If the pregnancy was endangering my child, yes, I would support them. I would also grieve for my grandchild. That is in line with my stated views on abortion. Otherwise, no, I would not support an abortion. I would, as another poster has mentioned, suggest that my wife and I raise the child. Not the optimal solution, but better than killing it. There are programs here that would cover medical expenses.

I could not force my child to follow my advice, however. They are adults. I can beg, plead, entreat... but not force. I will have to rely on their upbringing at that point. Regardless of their decision, I would still love them.

This is a great alternative. I'm so blessed by my kids but my husband became abusive and left once I had the second baby. We had both decided on having kids so I've no idea what happened, other than he snapped. Never saw him again... also a blessing but some help would have been nice.

It's lovely to hear of men taking responsibility. That's massive hope right there, as there's kind of an under current of men being anti abortion, some calling women skanks etc. and completely missing out that they were part of the equation too. Women, despite equality in the law, often earn less than men and being a single parent is tough for all. Unless we can walk in another's shoes, we simply don't know why and where they are at in life.

I'm pro choice in the very early stages and if it were a child of mine it has to be their choice. I'd support them having an abortion as well as be there for them if they really wanted to go through with the pregnancy too.

That is terrible I could never have turned and walked away forever.

I'm sorry that happened to you yes it can be hard at times but we'll worth it.

I don't judge people by that way to each their own
But I could never support the decision to abort I would still love my kid if they made that choice I just wouldn't support that decision.

By support them, I meant never berate them or lecture... lost most of my friends and family over my refusal of the vaccines so I so deeply feel that people have to make their decisions themselves but shouldn't be shunned for it. Part of being loving has to include the unconditional part, at least to me.

Oh absolutely I would carry on as if it never happened if they brought it up later after the fact I would keep my opinion to a minimum.

No no. I'm sure it's not clear, having three kids...never identified as the father of, or mother of.

By the way, that was nice the op rode the middle, impartially!

You should rejoice in the fact that the Federal Government has given the CHOICE to the States & the Federal Government never once said you can’t have an abortion nor is it illegal on a federal level ..
were have you been studying the type of info you wrote in your response, because it reflects nothing true about the SCOTUS ruling.

No. It took something that was federally protected as a private and personal choice, and made it the state governments choice. More government involvement where it doesn't belong.

I just do what I see as right.

I was always raised on personal responsibility so I have always stepped up to the plate.

Plus my longterm girlfriend has been a huge help over the last 16 years.

Well the Federal Government has & uses capital punishment, so should the Federal Government make all States have capital punishment ?

I for one would love to see a thread on western magic, it would have to be a “mud pit” type discussion, because tempers would surely flare.
Start one up

And you prefer the federal government to have control rather than the state you live in? Not sure why, please explain.

I’m not nearly as knowledgeable as you are on the subject, the comment was not an attempt at “setting you up”.

Piss poor comparison. What about capital punishment is a personal choice?

The federal government didn't have control over it. They left it as a personal and private decision between a patient and their provider.

The greatest freedom in America is that of individual States & not the Federal Government’s.
You truly need a class in how this country was founded.
The Federal Government has no right to determine when or how life begins & that is were community & State right’s get to decide… just like over capital punishment.
The majority of a State has the right to choose life or death of the unborn & it’s criminals .
If your State’s laws don’t jive with your beliefs, then use contraception , take a few hour drive to a legal State for abortion , commit capital offences in non death penalty States or move .
There is always the best way , and that involves convincing through evidence & political campaigns that abortion is reasonable through a majority vote on it. Abortion was never meant to be birth control & taking away life out of inconvenience is dark business.

If you found out that your neighbor euthanised a litter of dogs , because they did not want them , you would probably explode in anger .
ps: Im against capital punishment as well.
