Sabre rattling or preparing us for the inevitable ?

General Sir Patrick Sanders took over from General Sir Mark Carleton Smith on Monday and wrote to his charges about the challenges they face.

"Russia's invasion of Ukraine underlines our core purpose to protect the UK by being ready to fight and win wars on land," he said.

"There is now a burning imperative to forge an Army capable of fighting alongside our allies and defeating Russia in battle.

"We are the generation that must prepare the Army to fight in Europe once again."

He added that he is the first Chief of the General Staff since 1941 to take command of the Army "in the shadow of a land war in Europe involving a continental power".

I hope it's the former but suspect the latter.
Why did they stop ? That’s the point of defending oneself… You practice for all scenarios.

I think this is why we are seeing delays in everything from food to your favorite games, etc. Everyone is gearing for war both mentally and financially which means SOMETHING is going to go down with a CRAAAAAAAACK!

I bet Legend of Zelda Breath Of The Wild 2 that's been 'supposedly' worked on for 4 years:e is NOT going to come out till the world situation is better to take the financial risk especially if they are doing a bunch of unique things with it.

A game like that it's too risky to put it out and not enough people buy it due to skimping and saving for important stuff in life like survival of the ducked up Biden economy. (Quack!).

Nintendo wants to release it on a new harder so it can run better then Frame Drop Forest AKA: Korok Forest: but can't now for obvious reasons so they are in a limbo of what to do and plus it looks like glorified DLC of the 1st game as seen on the recent (now old) trailer reveal:

they did say they wanted to do more with it but had so many ideas they decided to create a new direct sequel but I don't know if Aonuma actually said it or if it was taken out of context by Zelda Lore theorists on Youtube.

BTW: For those whom think Zelda will be playable I want to know HOW? She died 100 years ago in the war that sent Link over to the Shrine you see in the start of BOTW and is a ghost when you see her in the correct ending.

In short, the war in Ukraine represents an awakening concerning historical lessons relearned in the age of social media and 24-hour news coverage. Moreover, from the demands of industrialized warfare, poor or the absence of strategy trumps all other factors, the fallacy of understrength units attacking too broad a front, and the importance of logistics are all among the weeds.

The size of the United Kingdom and their Australian and Kiwi counterparts face the same issue concerning undersized armed forces. However, that conclusion was apparent from coalition operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. But for reasons that are for another discussion, that matter was ignored.

We fought more or less alone from '39 till the end of '41.
Sure it got easier, but it wasn't impossible.

Alone? Utter nonsense. The British did relatively little in the grand scheme of things, especially in Europe, the Americans even less.

I honestly can't wait to come over there and give your sh*t kicking half rate military what they deserve.

The fact you seem to imagine that would even be a possibility speaks volumes.

Anyhoo, good luck with that, and careful what you wish for.

Just in this war different allies: 'Oh look there's a German, a Kraut, a Fritz".
Just pulling my leg.

And the cockroaches?
We call them "Frantzhosen" (Frenchmen).
See, something we have in common.

I'm sure British and German people would love a culinary exchange.

That will be the deciding factor, life in Britain is #ty enough for the average person, they won't want it to get any #tier. Then in the States, a lot of Vets are homeless, and not getting anything like the help required morale must be really top-notch after a few years of Biden, As far as Europe goes what part of # off doesn't America understand. There is no need to occupy as the War ended over seventy years ago. Russia pulled back after the fall of the Soviet Union. and all the buffer states got free of it. It's just a money-making scam for the few.

Life is what you make of it anonentity.

As to it being "#ty" here in the UK, comparatively speaking this is paradise compared to other places around the globe, same with the USA.

Which is not to say there is not massive room for improvement in both our respective nations where quality of life and the distribution of wealth is concerned all the same.

It is so true. But you still have to have some tools to use to improve it. along with an education to be able to do it. If not no improvement.

We definitely have our fair share of problems here in the UK, but life certainly isn't '#ty' for the majority of people.

I passionately believe that we need to take urgent steps to redress some of the injustices and inequalities in our society and other far reaching and even radical reform.
But compared to most things are pretty good....we just need to make it even better.

My plans for the rest of the day are to potter about in one of my gardens whilst listening to a bit of music and try to keep abreast of the cricket.
Feet up in the sun with a Margarita and a bit of lunch.
Maybe have a stroll around to my parents and/or a couple of mates houses for a quick catch up.
Maybe a couple of cold Peroni's along the way.
Later on I'll either have a relaxed, chilled sort of evening and night. Maybe pop out for a few pints or just stay at home and probably a Chinky later on.

Pretty #ing #ty isn't it.

Tools like social safety nets for instance?

As to education, well people come from all over the globe to attend our educational establishments and university some of which are considered to be the best in the world or thereabouts, same with your own nation.

There will always be room for improvement, but a utopia is an impossibility nor even desirable given the imperfect animal that we are.

Then you are oblivious to the growing amount of people who will soon be knocking on your door for a handout, or even a warm-up from your central heating. Because they like you will only be interested in their own comfort.

I'm not oblivious to anything.

Everything is relative.
Compared to people living in Syria, Iraq etc life here is pretty good....that's why so many people from these places want to come here!

Yes its hard for some people here in the UK, for far, far too many.
And as I quite clearly stated we need to redress the injustices and inequalities as a matter of urgency.

I live on a council estate in a town in North East England, one of the most under-invested, neglected and under-represented parts of the whole of the UK; the arse end of the world as far as Westminster and the political elites are concerned.
I witness the struggles people face every single day with my own eyes.
Things both could and should be better.

Now remind me again where you live and how much first hand experience you have of the '#ty' life it is here in the UK?

As I said, everything is relative.
Yes, we have problems. Many problems.
But its not as bad as some make out.....nowhere near.....yet.

The thing is if our neighbors need a handout or help, and it's within our power to do so, most peeps will happily accommodate.

It's not like that all over the island all the same, but certainly not how you seem to imagine.

It's nice to be nice you see, in both directions, and charity, well that begins at home.
