An AR-15 is NOT an automatic weapon.

Contrary to popular belief, AR does NOT stand for Assault nor Automatic rifle. It stands for the name of the company - ArmaLite Rifle

Shouldn’t we have heard from the border patrol agent with the borrowed shotgun by now?

To expand on your point, the D nomenclature says it all.

Assault rifle. Not a thing.

High capacity magazines. Standard magazine size is 30 rounds for rifles. Varies for handguns between 8-17 approx

Weapons of war. Not a thing unless the ol Glock 19s (9mm) or the Sig M17s ( also 9mm)

Gun crime statistics oft cited also include suicide is more than half of ALL guncrime.

The anger and the AR 15 which accounts for very few gun deaths. Handguns take that crown.

Handguns are already gatekept by an age limit of 21. Vast majority of gun crime is committed by illegally obtained handguns.

I feel like its elementary ATS knowledge at this point but everytime the gun grabbers emurge we have to start all over with the facts.

Please. Justify to me why you support violating Americans 2nd ammendment rights.

None of us need to have anything "justified to us", in order to feel confident in our beliefs. Decide for yourself and stick with it, unless PROOF is revealed that you were mistaken.

The magazine size restrictions Dems keep complaining about was dealt with by SCOTUS. Size of Magazines are protected, just as guns are.

Are you alluding that theres a divine mandate to violate the constitution to your own emotional ends?

Several points in history point at that being a bloody terrible idea.

Well shi't....they should give it a different name. The gun manufacturers aren't doing themselves any favors by keeping the "AR" (Automatic Rifle) nomenclature for that hardware. What would be more appropriate?

Ive seen some injunctions regarding CA and the Ninth Circuit but no Scotus case.

Happen to have a link? This one slipped through my radar.

I'm saying that none of us should feel that anyone needs to justify their beliefs to us, because we are not their creators, or bosses, or caretakers.

In other words, what I think should not matter to you, just like what you think does not matter to me.

Make sense?

When people ask why a person "needs" a gun I respond by asking the person why Rosa Parks "needed" to sit at the front of the bus?

In short a US citizen does NOT have to have a reason to exercise their constitutional right.

AR does NOT mean automatic rifle.

It stands for ArmaLite Rifle - the company name.

As I said and I will say it again - civilians can NOT own an automatic rifle.

Until phasers become available, every American should have access to a hand gun for self-defense, and taught how to use it accurately and efficiently.

Agreed.. However, and I mean this with all due respect, but a person should know everything about guns before owning one, and that extends to knowing the company name and what a gun designation is - like AR.

Thank-you for explaining that!

I bet most people who aren't knowledgeable about guns, when asked, would say the AR-15 stands for an Automatic Rifle-15.

That's what I've (falsely) believed for decades, lol.

Civilians can NOT own an automatic weapon.

The main federal law governing fully automatic weapons is called the National Firearms Act, or NFA. First enacted in 1934, this federal law regulates fully automatic weapons, suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and destructive devices such as bombs or grenades. The NFA was subsequently modified in 1968 by the Gun Control Act and in 1986 by the Firearm Owners Protection Act.

Items included in the NFA are referred to colloquially as “NFA items,” and are highly regulated. A special license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is required to manufacture, sell, and own any of these items, without exception. Whereas regular gun manufacturers and dealers must obtain a Federal Firearms License, or FFL, to legally make and sell non-NFA firearms, entities who wish to make or sell NFA items must obtain an additional license on top of the FFL. These dealers are referred to as FFL/SOT (special occupational tax) or Class 3 FFL dealers. It is a lengthy and burdensome process that requires extensive investigation by ATF.

Under the NFA, it is illegal for any private civilian to own any fully automatic weapons manufactured after May 19, 1986. Only certain types of FFL/SOTs may make them, and then only for purchase by qualified state and federal agencies. There are no exceptions. According to the ATF’s official handbook on NFA laws and regulations, it’s not even legal to make new replacement parts for pre-1986 machine guns: “There is no exception allowing for the lawful production, transfer, possession, or use of a post-May 18, 1986 machinegun receiver as a replacement receiver on a weapon produced prior to May 19, 1986.”

Democrats are once again trying to exploit a shooting for nothing more than political gains, namely destruction of the 2nd amendment.

Didn't Salvadore Ramos use an Automatic Rifle? An AR-15?

YES..he LAWFULLY purchased one: en.wikipedia.org...

You're making some very strange posts as of late , seem really out of character
