The families of the vast majority of people of Russian extraction who live in the Donbas region moved there during the late 40's and 1950's.
Many were forcibly moved there by Stalin and later Khrushchev to work in the newly industrialised urban towns and cities.

They haven't lived there for generations unlike the Ukrainian people in the region, they were there as the result of a concerted effort by Soviet leaders to counter nationalist tendencies in Ukraine and other suppressed regions of Soviet Russia.
At the same time many Ukrainians were forcibly expelled from their ancestral homeland and relocated elsewhere in Russia - mainly in the east.

The Donbas is not some sort of historic Russian heartland, not by any stretch.

I don't have that ability with the device I use for ATS, but the last Speak The Truth episode posted in the Update thread has pretty good examples of russian government teevee nonsense, and one of his previous episodes has a brief bit about that Sweden nonsense.
