It's not about blaming decent gun owners but realizing easy access to guns is one level of the problem. Selfish gun owners are therefore part of the problem since they refuse to be a part of the solution by sacrificing their rigid ideas of gun ownership that include easy access for everybody to guns and very lethal guns.

A society with ailments like mass murders by its young on the young needs sacrifice of its citizens to heal this wound or it won't ever be healed.

Even the scum bag MSM is part to blame. Why are they showing this mass murderer's face all over the media like he's a movie star?

We have no guns, you now can't even buy "kitchen" knives without ID so we should be safe right?

You need ID to prove you are over 16 to purchase paracetamol here in the UK or most energy drinks for that matter.

But why would anybody under that age require purchasing a kitchen knife?

They are running around murdering and stabbing feck out of one another for kicks and hoots Hecate666.

Requiring them to have ID to purchase bladed weapons and tools is not that bad an idea really in a similar manner they require proof of age to purchase alcohol.

The alternative being wee neds running around the town center and public transport stabbing hell out one with whatever the feck they managed to purchase from ASDA as unfortunate as the case may be.

Some American cities require photo ID to purchase cold medicine or spray paint.

Spray paint.

Not required for knives or voting though.

Well said.

To everyone else, I understand where you're all coming from. I really do.

But honestly, we have the same #ing conversation over and over and nothing changes because nothing changes.

There's one thing you and all these shooters have in common, your mentality around the "right to bare arms".

Get over yourselves.

So bloody tragic. My kid is my life. I have wept for those children and those left to carry the loss, several times today.
Australian gun laws seem to work for us. If you want a gun, you can have one, but not if your a crook or a nutcase. This means you have to be well connected and have a lot of money to get hold of one on the black market. The crim's have still got firearms, but they have few to choose from and tend to only use them on each other in my country. Plenty of Aussies have got plenty of guns, and in my mind, it's generally the right kind of Aussies that own them.

Not great logic.
Explain to me why owning a ramset does not make me a gun owner.

And now explain to me why as a gun owner I am selfish, when I have never hurt anyone due to my ownership of a tool.
"A society with ailments like mass murders by its young on the young"
tells me the young is not getting the proper parenting, or otherwise the proper instruction.
I will take the parenting first, and instruction second.

Normal folks do not shoot up a school. Regardless if they have a background of using firearms or not. Hard stop. Period.

When you find me a society that does not have mass murders, perhaps then I could listen to your arguments?

It will be because it's flammable i imagine.

Have you seen the mess that can be made with the likes of a can WD-40 and a lighter?

I don't think having to present ID is predominantly a bad idea where the purchase of weapons or tools is concerned especially where proof of age is in question.

It is a right in the founding document. It is there to stay.
Get over yourself, and find a different solution.

27 amendments to the U.S. Constitution have been ratified since its inception.

You don't need to take away your right to bear arms.

But changing the second amendment so as to ban children and the mentally unstable from bearing arms may be an idea.

Considering the number of mass shootings and deaths associated with those types of people having access to guns.

If someone is intent on killing they will find a way, restricting their choice of weapon won't somehow resolve the issue. Politicising such an abhorrent act is a cowardly move.

Thoughts and prayers with the victims and their loved ones.

Worlds gone mad.

No ammendment is required for that, it's already illegal for children and mentally unstable, those laws just aren't enforced very well, especially in certain large cities.

Seems those folks think it's better to punish the gun than the humans who use them to kill other humans.

I don't think a constitutional amendment will solve anything, you'll still have irresponsible gun owners and would only bolster the black market.

As an example what's to stop a nutcase using a car to plough into a crowd? A kid could steal their parents car just as easily as their gun, both can be used as deadly weapons.

There are several good reasons for it, but pretty absurd that some of those same reasons are so easily ignored for other items.

I do believe there are laws in existence that limit those exact things.
When we disagree, can we have something to disagree on?

The solution is to deal with unstable humans long before they try to kill other humans.

Something the U.S. had always done pretty well until the past half century.

Then the laws require enforcement PatriotGames4u else something needs to change.

Prevention seems to be the ticket, that way punishment is not required, but im all for punishing the bastards that commit horrendous acts of depravity such as this.

I simply cannot fathom how anyone can decide or justify the killing of 21 people, most of which being children, to be a good idea.

I just dont get it.

So what do you imagine changed in the last 50 years that's preventing the laws you have in place from dealing with these unstable people?

Coz it seems to me there are more mad bastards doing the rounds today committing all sorts of nasty acts and atrocities that in days gone by.

And that is in absolutely no way simply just an American issue.
