I'm anti-abortion strictly from a scientific standpoint.

The unborn living human is an unborn living. . . well, human.

And has absolutely no rights to life.

But cheers and SnF

Same. This post is about Pelosi using her faith to support abortion, and the Archbishop calling her on it.

If they don't believe in what Catholicism teaches why and how are they Catholic?

They believe in God and Jesus, but disagree with Popes and bishops. Even Popes edicts and bishops disagree with each other. They are flawed people. The church evolves, but God's covenant doesn't.

The Catholic Church is supposed to be the universal church, so kicking members to the curb for not agreeing with this Pope's edicts, or this Bishop's Synod is counterproductive to the church message. There are as many Catholic viewpoints as there are Catholics.

That's how.

Did you drop a bollock there B?

The unborn human being doesn't have any rights.

Currently a woman can, just because, kill the unborn human being.

The unborn has as many "rights" as a black slave did in early America.

Usually when someone's loins fail it means they can't get pregnant anymore.

And what happens when a woman's loins fail during pregnancy?

So they disagree with Catholic teachings, that sounds like someone not a Catholic.

I'm glad to see at least one faith stand up against the killings of unborn living humans.

Where does it say she is pregnant?

So should every Catholic who supports birth control, the death penalty, supports divorce and remarriage, and rejects refugees, the sick, the hungry, and the disenfranchised.

Show me where Pelosi has ever done that.

While speaking with The Seattle Times editorial board, Pelosi said, “The very idea that they would be telling women the size, timing or whatever of their family, the personal nature of this is so appalling, and I say that as a devout Catholic.” She added, “They say to me, ‘Nancy Pelosi thinks she knows more about having babies than the pope.’ Yes I do. Are you stupid?”

She added, “And I say that as a practicing Catholic. Again, this shouldn't even be a political issue. Look at Ireland. Is there a more Catholic country? Look at Ireland and how they pass legislation respecting, respecting women, respecting women.”

For years, radical restrictions on women's reproductive health freedoms have been pushed across the nation, with 2021 on track to be the worst legislative year for women's health rights. I come to this as a Catholic mother of five in six years and one week and with the joy that all that meant to us. But with the recognition that it was my husband and I – our decision. It was our decision. And we should not, in this body or in that Court, be making decisions for the women in America. As of July, 90 reproductive health restrictions have been enacted, more than in any year since Roe v. Wade was enacted in 1973.

LOL

Never did I think I'd see the progressives of ATS arguing biblical scripture to lobby for the restoration of Pelosi's mortal soul and acceptance into heaven.

I couldn't give two sh1ts about Pelosi, and heaven isn't real. Christian hypocrisy is what we're arguing about.

Hypocrisy based on?

Scriptural interpretations and interpolating, like all religious arguments.

The mortal soul bit was a joke, which was quite clear in context.

Could someone explain this to someone who has no idea about any religion? I have no idea what anyone is talking about.

It depends on what part of the Bible is being cited. In one chapter, it's OK to kill your son as a sacrifice, but the unborn is not to be touched. I'm sure there are biblical grounds for divorce and remarriage and many other things which, on the face of it, appear to be against the religion. Everything in context.

Long story short, Noncy Pelosi loves child sacrifice.

Do you think your religion should dictate how other people, of different religions, decide the size and timing of their families? She doesn't think hers should.

She's saying, that in spite of her beliefs, she doesn't think her position as a politicians should be dictated by her church. Do you think it should?

She doesn't think the Catholic Church has the right to make decisions for all American women. She is not saying her religion supports her politics, but that her religion won't interfere with her politics.

Can you understand that, or do you think that because a bunch of Supreme Court Justices are Catholic, the whole county must submit to Catholic beliefs and doctrine? Do you support America becoming a theocracy? I think you do.

Bull poop.

She's endorsing, encouraging abortion and abortion legislation.

If she had done none of that then you might have had a point, but she does so you don't.

Everything in context.

The context is Catholic teachings verses Catholic politicians forcing those teaching on the people they've been elected to represent through legislation.

Remember when JFK promised not to be ruled by the Vatican, and then went on to have extra marital affairs? Was JFK denied the Eucharist for his refusal to promote Catholic teachings and his infidelity?

And contraception! OMG

Now, what about those Catholic politicians that support the death penalty? Where's the outrage? What about those Catholic politicians to deny refugees, vote against feeding the poor or housing the homeless or providing care for the sick?

It's hypocrisy fueled by weaponizing church teaching and rituals for political gain.
