I give stars out like candy even to people I do not agree with...if it's a thought out and fair post. Although I have to click a few times until it registers, sometimes, sometimes I can't star no matter how hard I try.

Or go back to the page and the member I stared has no star although it showed up for me.

Your desire to know this reads unhealthy, almost like you want to map out relationships between members.

I am against it, on rn3 it's a different thing because there are no stars visible for the posts itself.

I think the idea sounds obnoxious.

If YOU want to know who starred your post you could try putting a automatic sig line that says something like: “ please send me a pm if you starred my post”. You never know 🤓🤩

I would say that the system you propose would simply increase the divide between members. It could lead to vindictive tendencies. Example: I may not star posts by somone who never stars me, even if it merits one.

In the end, the starring system is not really indicative of the quality or usefulness of a topic.

The only forum where stars have meaning and are a necessity is the Writing Forum; stars are used as the voting method for the Short Story Contest.

Stars don't really mean much, look at me, I have 15,000 of them and I'm an idiot who never really has anything of importance to add to a thread.

Eh, why would it matter who gives you stars? I do give them to great posts, funny/sarcastic posts and randomly by accident at times. Heck after 20 years I still don't understand the karma and is it wat score? Is it supposed to be high or low? Never really pay attention, nor does it matter I think. This place is about ideas and news, not popularity right?

First of all it would be an incredible strain on the database to make a per post list of who starred what. Especially as a hover over command.

Most of all, I don’t what a bunch of PM’s whining and crying as to why I didn’t star their post. Nor mediate disputes along those lines.

Lastly, write better posts and you will get more stars.

Wear your stars as proudly as the sneetches once did.

When the star system broke, it was liberating ... they didn't mean anything after.

And I hate threads in this particular forum, as I cannot put stars on my friend's replies ... while everyone else's are ignored.

I would stop starring if that were instituted

That would lead directly to the alphabet federal justice system monitoring who stars what, they already monitor this site for what we write. They watch us like we were at the OK Corral and they were trying to influence and understand what we think about each side.

Although I probably am on their list already because I am not the preferred alt-left worshiper who voted for Hillary and Biden, that the alphabet justice system thinks are angels who can do no wrong and never get prosecuted or investigated for anything, even looting, burning cities and destroying private businesses.

I am a conservative thinker and that makes me in their eyes a domestic terrorist because of how I think, even if I don't own a gun, went nowhere during lockdowns and am vaccinated and never went to any protest or rally of any kind. Just the way I think is enough for me to be on their list. I don't need to give them fuel for the fire by them tracking my stars.
