Spot on, add to that the fact the Stalinist Soviet Union actually began WW2 WITH Germany as they both invaded Poland and divided it between them, it was only well after that Hitler launched his attack upon the Soviet Union, in reality Stalin was every bit as evil as Hitler and I made the mistake of saying that the Crimea was really part of Russia but it was not rather it was really the remnant of the Tartar's lost empire and was populated by Tartars whom Stalin ethnically cleansed and then colonized the Crimea with Russians.
By all accounts the Tartars whom are in there homeland in the Crimea are facing a repeat of this past crime and are once again suffering under Russian rule.


So I was VERY Wrong in my former appraisal in thinking that Crimea was really part of Russia because in reality it was not but was an occupied nation ruled by Imperial and then Soviet Russia.
For them it was much better under Ukrainian rule.

I dont know if this is relevant to this thread but just want to inform you, we had no access to ATS from Russia neighbouring country Finland over a week. Things are escalating fast here.

He has been playing the American people like a violin for the past 5 years and now we are supposed to take his words as coming from the heart? He is mass murdering Ukrainian's, in my book he ripped up his statesman's card forever when he did that.

From what I read in the speech, it seems that Putin is pretty much on point with his assessment of the US and our governing elite. I don't think there are many people left in the world who are of any significantly differing opinion on that particular topic. I think most people would agree that the US is being run by a bunch of greedy, self serving, elitists who would sacrifice this nation and its people in a heartbeat if they thought there was a paycheck in it.

That having been said, I wonder how many people will intentionally ignore the message just because of the source. You may not like the man but truth is truth. Ignoring truth out of spite is just plain stupid.

I am a supporter of freedom and liberty....how are those quotes from Putin are wrong?

You came out virtue signaling Putin Bad, but did not show where he was wrong. Just name calling because "Putin Bad". It seems when one can't counter the things they don't like, one says what they are expected to say.

I'll yell you where he is wrong. He is wrong about invading a sovereign nation. He was wrong when he told his soldiers that they were just taking two cities of which comprised of mostly Russians and Russian supporters. He then proceeded to attempt to take the entire country. He was wrong when he blamed the sanctions that are affecting his citizens on western countries and not his decision to invade under threat of sanctions.

ETA:
He is also wrong when innocent children and women die in Ukraine because of his invasion and their blood is on his hands. Even the male citizens that take up arms do defend their country against him, when they die their blood is on his hands and he is wrong for that.

I live in Russia and therefore I can only judge what is happening with Russians in the West from the news.

In Russia, these words are sometimes used in speeches (but I did not know that there is no such term in the West).

But that does still not justify what he is doing in the Ukraine and I for one believe what some of the Russians POW's have said they can not turn around even though most of them do not want to be there because they will be SHOT.

You know there was another time that tactic was used on conscripts the old Soviet Commissars used to machine gun anyone that ran from battle BUT back then Russia was fighting for it's life and now it is invading a nation of there fellow Slavs many of whom were born or have relatives in Russia and many of those being sent in as soldiers have family in the Ukraine as well.

Face it the Russian people fought for freedom and brought about the end of the Soviet Union, there nation was then raped by the very same Oligarch's that are now Putin's best friends and Putin is more or less restoring soviet style control over the Russian people so there democracy which has been a sham since he came to power anyway has been destroyed and taken from them.

Power in Ukraine in 2014 was seized (by force) by Western puppets.

According to the desire of their masters, they destroyed all ties between the Ukrainian people and the Russian people.

Sooner or later, they would have thrown the Ukrainian people to war with the Russian people (their Western masters do not feel sorry for the Slavs, on the contrary, it is very useful if one Slavic people destroys another Slavic people).

If the Ukrainian authorities wanted peace, then why did they avoid the implementation of the Minsk agreements signed by Poroshenko for many years?

The Russian people were deceived by propaganda, which in the last years of the existence of the USSR scolded everything Soviet and extolled everything Western.

Oligarchs appeared in the days of Boris Yeltsin. After that, Putin came and put things in order and kicked out some oligarchs.

For example, Khodorkovsky, whose fate is so sadly mourned by the West.
