Don't worry Cirscus lovers, the next thing up is the 10 year legal battle to see if Mr. Schiavo's wishes of cremation is alowed or if the parents burial wishes is the winner.

The Show must go on ...

I just hope her family can now move on and grieve for their daughter, rather than continue this circus. The grieving should have started a long time ago, for that's when she was truly lost.

May she rest in peace, finally.

I don't see how a ficticious character has anything to do with this event. Also, I doubt that there are enough people involved in this issue to start a civil war in a single town. I'm still confused as to how I feel on this issue. I saw it from both sides. Life if precious, but she wasn't really living.

Starting????

I only heard about this stuff over the last week or so cause the belgian media was running stories on it. Not to jump on the circus wagon, but to show how rediculous things can get in the US. A 15 year legal battle to see if a woman is alowed to die peacefully or should be forced to stay alive as a plant because her parents just can't let go.

This thing isn't over yet, first there will be more bullocks about if they'll cremate her or bury her, then there will be fights over movie and TV rights. Oh, theres still so much they can fight about.

That young woman was dead 10 minutes after she hit the floor.

The title of this thread should be changed to read "Terri Shiavo's Body Ceased to Function".

Oh, and I guess in Belgium this type of thing is impossible? Why must everything be anti US? Geeze give it a rest.

A dark day in America, now it's OK to starve a handicap person to death based on heresay evidence. 13 days without food or water, an abortion is more humane. The Bush boys could have prevented this if they really wanted to, the main purpose of government is to protect its citizens and once again it has failed. I'm not a big religious person and prefer to see things in a more secular way, but God forgive those that allowed this to happen

The 41-year-old died at 4.05pm BST in a hospice. Neither her parents nor brother and sister were allowed to be in the room at the time of her death at the request of her husband Michael

Terry Schiavo's case was a family issue. The different sides of her family and friends should have sat down and resolved this internally. Saying this has something to do with abortion is a straw man argument. It has nothing to do with abortion. I wouldn't have cared if the feeding tube was kept in or not, as long as her family and friends came to a consensus.

If you ask me, I wouldn't want to live like that. I won't make a judgement call on someone who does, but to me, that's not life, and I wouldn't want it.

How can we make this judgement? For all we know she was still able to hear and see everything perfectly. Just because part of your body doesn't work properly doesn't mean that you aren't alive.

The woman wasnt a vegetable. She was capable of breasthing on her own. she had limited but capable brain function, could respond to stimuli. She was alive.

atrix, it wasnt a 15 uyear legal battle to "allow her to die peacefully", spare me. It was a 15 year battle so Michael could collect that 10 million bucks. if he really cared about his wife, he would have divorced her and left her care to her parents, and moved on. Terry Schiavo more than likely probably didnt want to die. She was still capable of enjpying music and her parents company.

And since in Belguim, where euthenasia is more and more common, and people seem not to hold even lessened life in much regard, people might find this case here ridiculous, and coming from that perspective, Im very happy that at least the concern over the subject is still a hot debate.

there was nothing "peaceful" about her death, death from slow starvation is a horrible, painful, agaonizing way to go.

I can't for the life of me understand why Michael Shiavo wouldn't let Terri's family be at her side for her final moments. I think that speaks volumes about his character - and I have no dog in this fight. It's just plain vindictive. I'm glad Terri is finally at peace; but I really feel for her family. There's probably little worse than losing a child.

help stop the fueding and bickering and disinformation.

Terry Schiavo's brother and sister were in the room with her this morning, then doctors came in for whatever it is that doctors do to her, they had to leave the room and minutes later she died.

This was reported on FOX news, and the priest speaking on behalf of the Schindler family confirmed that the brother and sister were with her.

www.foxnews.com...
"Unfortunately, just 10 or so minutes before she died we were told we had to leave the room because there would be an assessment of her condition and because her husband Michael wanted to be in the room," said Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life (search).

Pavone said Michael Schiavo outright rejected the Schindler family's request to be with Terri Schiavo in her final moments

I'm sorry but that doesn't constitute barring the parents from the room, they were with her up to 10 minutes before, jeez louise, emotions are once again taking over for logic and reason.

Terri Schiavo can finally find peace in heaven after Christ has been calling her soul home for 15 years.

And my God have mercy on the souls of those that tried to keep her from Him.

May Terri rest in peace now...If the dead can see she will know exactly what was done and by whom...

As far as the comments on John Titor, its not just him. I went to a prophesy website not long ago, but it was written in the 1970's...anyways, it says there the civil war will get kicked off by something that happens to "a woman". Thats all it says.
I will try to backtrack and see if i can find this very interesting story again.

What does breathing have to do with it? Well let's see, if she were in a respirator, would you still consider her dead already?

There is a list of characteristics to look for, in a textbook, about the persistent vegetative state, they read it on the news the other night, and poor Terry fit the bill.

if he really cared about his wife, he would have divorced her and left her care to her parents, and moved on.

And judging by the legal fireworks of the last 15 years, just how easy a divorce would have been? Also, if this was Terry's wish, why not grant it.

Terry Schiavo more than likely probably didnt want to die. She was still capable of enjpying music and her parents company.

How do you know that? I sympathise with the parents, but their claim she all of a sudden woke up and said "I don't want to die" is just more than suspicious. It's a plain lie.
