Here's to that beer

I don't think I'd want to survive it anyway.

Ummm…I always keep a well stocked and probably too heavy for my old back BOB handy…

I gave a twin to it to my daughter…for Christmas last year…everything from Ferrel rods and a rocket stove…to purification tabs and filtration straws…and just about everything in between…

BOB can be your best friend…but he’s a heavy sum beach…prolly could pare down the triple redundancies…and make another bag or two…

Eventually there will be a great cleansing; be it on purpose from some insane leader with his finger on the button or by accident when a bio/chem breaches containment or a Biblical Armageddon.

My solution is to live one day at a time and make everyday a celebration and party like there's no tomorrow. First rounds on me....

My dad always said live every day as if it were your last, but know that it probably isn't.

we all die a nice quick death.

That really depends on if you have fair warning.

If you know it's coming, you just get under some sturdy furniture, curl up and put your hands over your neck.

Ummm…I don’t know…I climbed under my desk way too many times back in the sixties…or crouched with my back to a wall…those were fun times…

I don’t think I’d fit under there now…nor do I have the inclination to do any repeats…wouldn’t do me any good anyhow…living this close to a major military base…

On the bright side I highly doubt we'd actually see a nuclear conflict.

I know the possibility does exist, but I don't dwell on it too much. We've seen an explosion in technology that has created just as many or more problems than it addressed. Coupled with an explosion in population, we have several extinction level events that could happen at any time.

Pandoras box is opened, and we're likely all on an unchangeable path.

You and I are merely here to bear witness. While things look grim, we did get to experience a period of incredible comfort mankind had never seen. And that did give us plenty of time to get a lot out of the human experience. Love, wonder, joy, and now we may pay on the debt of pain.

You guys are all missing the main thing to consider if you find yourself in a nuclear holocaust-

You must wear your mask(face mask not gas mask) and maintain social distancing!

I # you not,its in FEMAs recent update in case of nuclear war..

FEMA recommends the following steps to prevent 'significant radiation exposure,' which include "Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household," and "If possible, wear a mask if you're sheltering with people who are not part of your household."

invesbrain.com...

Remember that, and everyone will be just fine.

Kinda weird, but a face mask could possibly help in you are not in the direct hit area and just in the fallout zone.
You can survive a nuclear attack.

I think there are a lot of people that don't realize this.

Ummm…don’t get me wrong…I’m certainly not a fatalist…I’m an optimist…

I reserve my pessimism for those who actually do control the machinations of the world…

As for pain…it’s merely a reminder that your still alive…and when you get to be my age…that reminder is a 24/7 klaxon…

However…joy…wonder…and love are also my constant companions…old friends that have traversed every step I’ve ever trod…it’s them who will guide me into my next grand adventure…

I always enjoy conversing with you…

Your like a younger…old friend…

Hey thanks! And the feeling is mutual.

I too try not to see myself as a pessimist, but rather a realist who is curious to a fault on finding the truth whether I like it or not.

The world is more palatable the closer you come to understanding IMO... Though, the task in itself is futile, much like the quest for perfection.

there are people who have seen the writing on the wall and understand that most would not want to live through that. I mean, it would make a really sweet naked and afraid series, but the prize at the end sucks. A burned out world with radiation fallout everywhere. This is one case where I'd take the zero. you can cram for the test if you like.

Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) is a concept based on an assumption that has NEVER Been Tested!.

An assumption based on a level of technology that has been far exceeded for decades: When MAD was first conceived, nuclear weapons were, by and large, mega- and multi-megaton Strategic devices, intended to take out cities and sprawling military targets. The warheads had to be large enough and powerful enough to destroy their targets even if they miss the exact target because guidance systems were not as sophisticated as they are today.

Today's nuclear munitions are smaller, and far more precisely guided; and, as a result, much more effective at destroying their intended targets: we no longer need megton class weapons to destroy an entire capital city, we can simply fly in a kiloton, or even sub-kiloton device on a cruise missile to knock out the power grid for the entire region.

Tactical, and adaptable capability, nuclear munitions have rendered the horror of MAD more of a boogeyman than a military certainty.

And, at the same time, made the possibility of "nuclear weapons" being used in anger, far more...conceivable.

If any country was to launch a nuke in anger, there is a better than zero chance they would get one back. MAD had to do with an all out strike, which is the only way a nuke would work based on the rules we all set in place. It's a system I like, because it makes the guy wanting to push the button realize he's vaporizing his house too.

The whole concept is ignorant. Like pistols at 5 paces. Both shoot, but get hit, both die, neither one wins. And this is 2022 for those keeping score. regression at it's finest.
