That Ukraine had a coup 8 years ago and the guy who took over persecuted ethnic Russians who are now in danger from a Ukrainian attack.

Which is more or less the truth.

Well except the "persecuted" and the "in danger" part of your post here that is pretty much hyperbole as part of a narrative and not reality.

Didn't Russia say they weren't going to invade?

I guess they were lying.

And didn't the US keep saying they would invade all over the country?

I guess they were telling the truth

Where are the handful of pro-Russians here on ATS who posted dozens of times that Russia was not at the borders and was not going to invade. That it all was a western propaganda to attack Russia...lol

I said by Spring they will attack and I was hit by at least a dozen posts saying I was 100% wrong, that Russia doesn't want its satellite countries back, that Putin's main goal to get them back is BS...so on and so forth.

Where are they now?

I just saw the most intense 13 second video, that one can witness and not be dead.

This person is recording an incoming jet. Suddenly 3 -4 missiles are fired towards the home or property the plane was being filmed from.

Lol they wanted proof while not having any proof they were not building on the borders. Even when people showed satellite images they called it Photoshoped or other nonsense.

I cant help but to wonder, if it's against the T&C for me to say fu@k the members here that support(ed) Putin....especially those members that are repeating it ad infinitum because Trump thinks Putin is a "Genius" for invading.

Why should anyone support NATO after destroying Libya?

Nobody here is supporting Putin, but several of us recognize that he was very savvy in the way he handled this. He's positioned himself as acting to protect the ethnic Russians living in Donbass. And he -- correctly -- read the situation as being that the West has no stomach for war, and Europe is far too dependent on Russian natural gas to impose any meaningful sanctions. Also, the leaders of the US, UK, and Canada are, respectively: a senile coot who can barely read his cue cards, a slob who is one more misstep away from a no-confidence vote, and a wimpy soy boy who is universally despised after going full retard over a labor strike.

From Putin's perspective, the starts lined up perfectly.

Updates:

Russian Forces Seize Chernobyl Nuclear Plant; Kremlin Willing To Talk Kiev's "Terms Of Surrender"

* The Russians have captured Chernobyl -- probably to make sure nothing happens to it, but as the article notes it also gives them a base that nobody would dare attack.

* Moscow is offering terms of surrender to Kyiv. The main one appears to be "neutrality", which obviously means promising to never ever join NATO.

Basically. Surrender or we'll take this big concrete lid off. I kinda guessed that was their motive for moving on this hell hole.

That's quite a baseless accusation there. Taking the lid off that toxic mess does not help any goals nor has anyone even alluded to such.

In other news though, the defense ministry is asking that the Ukrainian armed services be treated with respect and are being allowed to withdraw through safe corridors.

Russian Defense Ministry Sergey Shoigu ordered to all unit commanders to treat Ukrainian servicemen with respect.

“Taking into account the fact that the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, unlike the nationalists, took the oath to the Ukrainian people and obeyed orders, treat them with respect. I ordered to work out the creation of safe corridors for the safe exit of Ukrainian servicemen who have laid down their arms from the areas of the operation to their families”

Does that mean Russia will be making a distinction between the regular Ukrainian army and the militias?

From what I gather, the militias are mainly neo-nazis, and are the ones who have been attacking Russians in Donbass.

Ukrainian forces retake airfield near Kyiv from Russia.

Ukrainian troops have recaptured an airfield in the north-west suburbs of Kyiv, a presidential adviser has told the Reuters news agency.

Our security and defence editor Deborah Haynes writes that control of the Hostomel Airfield "is thought to be key to Russia's ability to assault the capital".

She adds: "It could be used to land transport aircraft carrying troops."

Awful views.

Worse may be yet to come. Heard some interesting analysis with two distinct walk-aways:
1. Putin is willing to detonate a tactical nuke to demonstrate his resolve
2. An opinion (from a learned fellow who has my enduring respect) -
a. if this is all about a 73 year old's legacy after 22 years in power ... the whole of Europe resides under the threat of invasion
b. the Biden Administration won't be able to take its eyes off the domestic threat to help Europe this time

Nothing could have stripped my attention from what I was hearing. And, no, I won't be going to Europe either.

I've got a spare room if you need to GTFOOT.

In all fairness, Biden was saying the same thing you were, and Biden is always wrong on foreign policy. So sue me, it's not that I doubted you, but I very much did doubt him.

Plenty of the worst people in history have technically been geniuses. All that word means is very, very smart. Most people want to assign it positive connotation, especially in this case because Trump used it.
