The director for the CDC publicly acknowledged in a CNN interview that the COVID-19 vaccine is not effective at preventing transmission of the virus.
Though Walensky did say these words on CNN, the original interview was aired in early August, not recently. And while it's true vaccines can't entirely halt transmission, experts say they do reduce it – and reduce the chances of hospitalization and death – as USA TODAY previously reported.
The claim: The COVID-19 vaccine doesn't stop you from getting or spreading the virus, so it can't protect others
doesn't mean the COVID-19 vaccines are worthless. Experts and public health officials say they do protect people from getting infected and spreading the virus.
"This is false information," Akiko Iwasaki, a professor of immunobiology and molecular, cellular and developmental biology at Yale University, said in an email. "Vaccines provide significant protection from 'getting it' – infection – and 'spreading it' – transmission – even against the delta variant."
Based on our research, we rate FALSE the claim that the COVID-19 vaccine doesn't stop you from getting or spreading the virus, so it can't protect others.
While vaccinated individuals can get COVID-19, experts and public health officials say they are less likely to contract the virus than unvaccinated people. That means they're also less likely to spread the virus to others.

When cases happened they called them breakthrough cases and then the dam broke and being vaccinated eased the symptoms only.

tell you that it mitigates your symptoms.
That was the story from day 1. Yes, Biden and a few other people said otherwise, but I don't listen to a president for health advice.
The vaccines boost your immune response. They cannot magically affect the virus outside of your body. Nor do they have instantaneous effect. So, you can both be infected, and can infect others before your immune system defeats the virus in your system.
