The monkeys were being bred for animal experimentation but hadn't yet been taken to the lab. Ergo it's unlikely that they would be infected with anything as they hadn't yet been brought to the place where they would hypothetically be infected.

I was hissed at and otherwise bullied by those little creeps while in S Africa...they would come into your room and steal you blind if you were stupid enough to leave any door or window open. And if they got something, they would get in a tree just outta reach, and bluff charge you. Smacked one across the face with a cane, he stopped charging. But I don't recall getting any virus from them.
