I don't disagree at all, but some of what you described IS what scotus is considering.

I do personally believe that scotus will find the TX case to be well outside anything they are willing to even consider, but I suppose anything could happen.

More than likely, it will get shot down because the crazy way it was written could open the door to more crazy laws that are aimed at other rights, such as gun rights..

God isn't real, humans made him up for power.

There is a higher power.

To the OP... since the SCJ has pointed out that brain dead people can have the plug pulled on them and her response to the subject at hand proves that she has no discernible brain function, can we abort her now?

Since Sotomayor is listed as a LIVING Supreme Court Justice, we'd be sent to prison for life, or executed, for terminating her life.

Save the effort for authorities who may try to take away our freedoms, like they're doing in Germany and Australia. Getting rid of them would be WORTH the sacrifice, imo.

Much more difficult as the constitution is extremely clear in the 2a. That's the problem with all of the abortion discourse - it isnt mentioned in the constitution and they require mental gymnastics to reach that point.

I think the case they just discussed from NY regarding gun regulations may open the door to remove the vast majority of regulation on the 2a. Just my .02 on that.

No, they are all real...
Just pointing out just how different self defense is seen when it comes to pregnancy...

That last one is entirely based on a whole series of democrat propaganda lies.

There were several very good reasons for that decision that had nothing at all to do with wmds.

Iraq had been purposely deceptive on their wmds, in effort to convince their neighbors that they still had them. It is 100% Iraq's fault if the world believed Iraq's own claims.

We found a very large quantity of yellowcake uranium hidden in Iraq that dishonest democrats like yourself don't like to discuss.

The same yellowcake that a certain democrat activist/cia employee started a huge fuss about.

Took an enormous effort to get it safely and secretly out of Iraq, and to Canadian power plants where that yellowcake (or what it was refined into) is still producing electricity today.

The U.S. apparently didn't have the right type of nuke facility to make use of this former wmd material.

And that doesn't even begin include democrats giving Iraq & Russia 6 months protection so they could convoy everything out through Syria.

Why even bother making such obvious false claims?

Do you really not expected to be called on such BS?

Pathetic.

The court didn't even get to the constitutionality of the actual abortion ban, they are deciding if the monstrous thing is impervious to any court challenges to its constitutionality, by anyone... women who may be harmed, abortion providers who may get sued, the federal govt...

Was there an imminent threat that iraq was gonna attack us? No???
Did we attack them, to protect our lives, our economic wealth, our way of life? Yes??

So, why should women only be able to defend herself once there is an imminent threat to her life? Same emotions, same desires are involved in the decision and quite frankly I would be more inclined to believe my doctor when he says there is a significant danger than I would anyone in govt.. and yet...

By the way, you admitted there was no wmds...

the real issue is when life begins not when its viable on it's own

Science has an answer for that one. Life on earth began about 3.5 billion years ago.

Oh, did you mean human life? that would be about two million years ago.

The egg cell is alive and human. The sperm cell is alive and human. When they combine, the result is alive and human. There is no point where any of these are not both alive and human for the last 2 million years.

Not sure how that helps with the issue, but there's the answer.

That's the only thing the Supreme Court has any right to rule on. Their ruling may cover several issues, but it is all based on Constitutionality.

We have legislatures to make laws, not courts.

Nobody except Israel made an imminent threat claim at the time, and Israel was under near constant daily attack from Iraqi funded suicide bombers.

U.S. officials went out of their way to state that they didn't think the wmd threat was an immediate one.

Hell, democrats gave them 6 months of protection while we watched huge convoys of who knows what escape through Syria at night to Russian naval ships parked near Beirut.

Not going to get away with attempts to rewrite history to fit democrat propaganda lies.

I hear this is perfectly acceptable on instafacebird. Maybe you are lost?

And again, none of this has anything at all to do with soto's intentional deception in an abortion case.

So why do you persist with such nonsense?

Think you might be doing a tad bit of rewriting yourself.. more tha than likely, we are both in error...
You say the wmds we snuck out of iraq?? Could the path they took have been through the former yugoslavia? If so, I would suggest that m.j maybe, just maybe clinton didn't just let them. He was bombing the heck out of something, maybe that??
And, regardless how inaccurate my recollection is, it didnt change the fact that most of the country was all for bombing iraq because of a possible threat.
It doesn't change the my overall assertion... that a pregnant women's right to self defense when it comes to the complications a women may face posing danger to her doesn't really come close to what people expect and have in other cases where they may feel threatened.

Here's a thought. Take a bald eagle egg, the National bird and walk on the steps of the Capitol and break it on the steps. Guess what? You are going to jail. Why? Its just an egg right? It would be determined that it was a bald eagle, which is illegal to kill. So why isn't an unborn child just as important. It is more important!!!

Or have a dog that is pregnant and decide you don't want that litter of puppies and take the dog to the vet to have the unborn puppies killed. Imagine the outrage across the country if you did that. Seriously. You would have death threats and have to go into hiding.

I admitted to killing one of my kid's hamsters after it bit me, and all the perfect sinless ATS members roundly condemned me for it! (This was about 2013.)

Don't what you are going on about.

But appreciate the CT.

Iraqi yellowcake was above top secret back then, but well known now.

Have been lengthy articles published about it since then, after all the material safely reached Canada.

Or I would be in REALLY big trouble right now.

Like helicopter ninjas and gitmo trouble.

JK, I verified public knowledge many years ago.

Can you terminate a brain dead person that you know will have a full return of brain function starting within months?

It depends on who that person is. Why such a personal question?

A "friend' now no longer a friend; Was complaining his fathers hospice over ran his insurance causing him to go broke or not have an inheritance.

The next morning; my mother asked to me to inform him, that his father died.

It's been several years and I haven't heard from him since.

I suppose it depends on the person... His sister would have been like hell no don't pull the plug, he would have obviously been I don't care if you yank it out I've had enough.

But in all honesty isn't there that one "relative" where it's like yeah find their next birth and yank the cord on that one too... If that weren't the case; I guess people, wouldn't be sentenced to more than one life sentence, without the possibility to escape it called parole.

It's another subject, but there are big fights within families if a member is on life-support who has money. Life support sucks thousands of dollars @ day from an estate.

I dont think anyonecares about the uterus, keep it, get rid of it, whatever. It's the human life that's inside the uterus people are concerned about.

Exactly right. The HUMAN LIFE inside the uterus will bring joy one day.

This is going to get ugly, babies, fetuses are not brain dead. That's a weak argument on that woman's part. On that note I am a Republican but I am not a conservative, I believe in a woman's right to abort under certain circumstances. Incest, rape, too young, complications with baby or it results in a Mothers death. I do not believe abortion should be used for birth control, I met a woman who used it for birth control, her next pregnancy she had complications, it not supposed to be used for that.

This woman who says a fetus is brain dead is an idiot, babies are not brain dead, or they woul not live past 1st trimester. Weak! Has anyone seen a real abortion being performed, I have, you see the baby moving and it's parts being ripped from it. So yeah it's alive. I know this but still think we should keep abortions.

I believe the unborn babies are not ours to destroy, any more than they are ours to destroy after they're born.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor is scary. It's scary that someone like her is involved with setting rules/laws that Americans must follow, for decades to come.

It is sad that this topic can not be elaborated better due to the obvious agendas of some behind the anti abortion pushing.

100% agreed, Marg. The agendas have become so divided, IMO due to each side taking extreme positions to counter the other, that there really is no more middle ground. One side wants all abortions outlawed, no excuses, no exceptions, while the other wants abortion on demand for any reason regardless of whether it is murder or not.

The rest of us are sitting in the middle trying to figure out how we got here.

Is more than just opinions is also life experiences of spiritual connections.

Agreed. My experiences and connections form my opinion, as I am sure yours do. I just wanted to point out that verse to you. How you choose to interpret it is your prerogative.
