At this point, arguing they couldn't get water to Aswan is basically equivalent to calling into question whether the Ancient Egyptians could survive
along the Nile at all. (Which they clearly could.)
It looks like the unfinished obelisk is about 2/3 of a kilometer from the Nile today. So it's close enough to work. Although it makes me
wonder. Do you think it is possible that at some point in history it might have been even closer?
