A mess of their own making under current situation. People are not going to be happy this coming winter and tempers will flare.
Jo Cox was murdered 5 years ago by some guy who had a history of mental health issues. Not the same as this tragic event.
Last time there was an uptick in MP security was during 'the troubles' because of car bombs (Airey Neave, bombing of Conservative Party Conference).
This is different and will be used to secure/safeguard MP's I venture.
Rainbows
Jane

PS SOCO or terrorism police will be well aware if MP's nationwide are being threatened by constituents...... a plan in the making.

I would argue that Islamic extremism is a mental health issue , people indoctrinated into a cult that advocates murder of anyone who disagrees with their views cannot be viewed as rational , sane people.
Today another Mosque has been bombed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan , their own people , their own religion and at a holy site , that cannot be the work of a sane person.

No matter how we view them MPs are people doing a job , they have families and friends they want to return to when their work day is done , as David Amess was a prominent animal right campaigner I feel he was one of the good guys with his heart in the right place.

Safety in the work place is a right extended to all workers in the UK , I don't see why politicians shouldn't be afforded that same right when meeting the great unwashed which is a vital part of their job else they will end up just sitting in their ivory towers , cut off from the people they are meant to serve.

Amess was one of the hundreds of MP's who voted in favour of invading Iraq. talk about hypocrasy.

Which he openly regretted.
He said that was the spur for him to vote against military intervention in Syria etc.

With regards to Iraq; MP's could only vote on the information presented to them.
Now as The House of Commons was deliberately misled over WMD's it was hardly surprising so many of them voted to go to war with Saddam Hussein -

Ahh the old. "I was duped" excuse. He would have been privy to the facts surrounding weapons of mass destruction. He knew what he was doing. # him.

Dude just stop.
There is no justification in supporting a Somalian terrorist killing an MP in this country.

How on earth would an Opposition backbencher be 'privy to the facts surrounding weapons of mass destruction'?
Do you honestly believe Blair told every single one of the 650 MP's of his intention to lie and deliberately mislead both The Commons and the people of this country?

The guy openly admitted that he felt he was wrong to vote for war in Iraq.
What would you have had him do?

You really haven't got a decent bone in you have you?

In politics, even the good guys know how to snout it out. Mrs Amess is the guys case worker, salary circa £30-40k. Don't know if any of his 4 daughters and 1 son have drawn a salary from working for him. Staffing costs claim limits for MP's outside of London are £179,330 per year. C19 means they can get an additional £24,970 to cover any extra casework needed.

I don't think anyone would deny that he made a good living out of being an MP.
I suspect they all bend and/or exploit the rules to varying degrees.

Does that somehow justify him being murdered in such fashion?

Many MPs have their wives as their secretary as it helps keep their family together and helps insure they don't do a Bill Clinton.

As long as their family are doing the job they are paid to do the numbers are small beans in the grand scale of things.

I disagree.

There are deaths that I might celebrate so I could not condemn someone for doing the same.

The only death I'd celebrate is for someone I care about, willingly saying goodbye and wanting to be with those close to them.

Not murder.

In the UK we celebrate the Death of Roman Catholic Guido Fawkes...Every year...on the anniversary of his death. RIP Guido, the only man who ever entered English Parliament with good intentions.

No one will even care when you are dead. That's why you're so salty, right?

Never did anything worth anything. Ahh well, rest in peace, Solo... I won't remember you then, either, but I do hope when you die, it's peaceful, and you're not murdered for your opinions and views.

People will show grief. Eventually, that grief will subside and I'll be just a memory. The same goes for you. I'm not falling for this fake grief for someone nobody on here ever knew. It's pathetic.

If you care that much send flowers or show up at the funeral.

It's not about fake grief.
You are actually trying to justify his killing by slandering him as a person.
It's one thing for fake grief - which is a thing - to get on one's nerves and say so, it's quite another to try and justify the act because you don't like the person who was killed.
You've revealed yourself as a truly disgusting person on this thread - far worse I would suspect than the MP you seem to hate.

No. No one will even know I have passed. I've made sure of this.

But to cheer on murder, is appalling. I hope you realise that, one day.

The old man just got brutally murdered in a church.

Chopped and plugged to bits over what amounts to politics Soloprotocol.

Its not about fake grief its about empathy for another human being.

About the realisation that daddy or grandpa is never coming home again to his kids and family.

What happened is pathetic imho.

This completly, anyone who kills or harms someone because of religious or politicial motivations is just crazy

the only suitable label is lunatic or insane

Whatever this MPs political stance is, murdering another human because these reasons is simply despicable, hope the perp rots in jail for the rest of his life.

Do we know the supposed motivations for the Somalian immigrants attack? Why out of all people would he chose to attack the MP and only him. That doesn’t sound like Islamic extremism, or terrorism even. I

It sounds like someone or some group put him up to it, like that “some” group that killed JFK rather than the lone gunman they would like us to believe..

I seriously doubt the perp was acting on his own motivations and that it had anything to do with political or religious reasons. The MP was a nobody in the scheme of things.

Slander?. You obviously don't know the meaning of the word.

Show me where I made a false statement damaging anyone's reputation?.
Show where I justified his murder?

Don't worry, this faux grieving process will subside sooner than later. It always dos.

I just worry that another murder of a complete stranger will set you all back a day or so. boo Hooo. Waaaaaail, oh the humanity, waaaaaaail.

You all wouldn't look out of place at a North Korean leader's wake.
