Let's just go by the last six months.
Think about people you know that got Covid, were they vaccinated or unvaccinted?

Let's turn it around - for the first year, we had no vaccine. On January 1, 2021, there were ~ 19m cumulative confirmed cases in the US, and ~81m cases worldwide, 335k deaths in the US, and 1.8m deaths worldwide.

So, fairly certain unvaccinated people were catching it without first being vaxxed.

In my state, for the week ending 8/21, unvaccinated people developed Covid infections at a rate 95.5 times higher than for vaccinated, and were hospitalized at a rate 159 times higher than vaxxed. Since there were no deaths of vaccinated people, the "death" rate can't be calculated except as "infinity."

I know a lot of unvaccinated people who got the infection, only one who was vaxxed - they're immunocompromised - had a break-thru infection. They were sick for a few days, but recovered with no complications.

Anecdotes are kind of amusing - but don't mistake them for "data."

Going forward, there are some additional variables at work now:

1. The delta variant - far more transmissible than the original circulating virus
2. As the number of recoveries go "up", especially with this latest surge, people's natural immunity makes them less likely to be infected - between 40m cases and 174m vaccinated, there are fewer people who can get sick, and case rates should start to fall soon, but at this rate, herd immunity remains over the horizon - 6 months?
3. The earliest vaccinated - nursing homes, immunocompromised, healthcare workers, are now > 6 months past their vaccination dates, and their antibody counts are starting to wane.

Here's one compilation of data on breakthrough infections (and they admit the data needs to be better all around).

Looking for more.

Link

One thing that irks me is that they don't break it down by vaccine type.

That's a good summary. The link I just posted goes into a lot of this.

Lol, it takes one hell of an ego to right things off as invented when you know nothing of the truth.

Random things people post and claim to be the truth are anything but, especially when they are as over-embellished as yours.

You know nothing about me nor the random people nor their experiences online.

It takes being a cynical pompous ass to assume that you know anything about another's experience.

You seem quite comfy accepting what you believe to be authoritative when it fits the narrative you attempt to defend.

Really it is quite pathetic and to be expected by one who seemingly wears a mask in their avatar, not realizing it betrays your true intellect.

Ok, anecdotally speaking, during the first part of covid with no jab I knew no one that got it in my sphere of influence, since the vax I have known 7 fully jabbed that have gotten 3 required hospital, 2 died, 1 is rocked, all fully jabbed. I am unjabbed and have been unmasked the whole time and have done everything you are not supposed to do, gone out in crowds, malls, flown(mask required there and only time I wore a mask) stayed in hotels, not socially distanced , family gatherings (xmas, thanksgiving) parties, dine out, sold out baseball games in mass of people going into and out of stadiums, shuttle bus to stadiums and more and not even a sniffle.

Just funny to me that the jabbed seem more scared of this than the unjabbed

Do you know that his death doesn't count in the vaccine-related death stat? The CDC is not counting any deaths occurring within the first 14 days of "vaccination."

I know 7 adults and 2 teens that were all vaccinated and tested positive. 2 came down with severe symptoms, 1 was a teen.

Personally, between the wife and I, we know at least six fully vaccinated people who got the virus after fully vaccinated with the pfizer or moderna vaccines. None that we know got the virus after the Johnson vaccine, but there are way less of those that we know than those with the mRNA jabs. That is in about the fifty we personally know. We also know of people who had some serious side effects from the mRNA vaccines but none who had serious reactions from the Johnson. We have heard of other people that got sick after the jab, but they are friends or relatives of friends that we don't know at all.

All of the people who were getting the virus did ditch the masks and started being social butterflies again. I have no idea of how many around here still got sick after the covid vaccines, they do not mention that in health news at all, the local news agencies only want to inform people of local cases and people who died with the virus in their body, they are worried that the agency governing them will target them so they just stay neutral and do not mention anything that might get them shut down or fined. So I have a limited view of what is happening here, just people we personally know in this town we live in. The wife is hearing more than I am locally, with her knitting on Wednesdays and the pre-diabetes class on monday where they all eat unhealthy lunches together....it is a social event, before they were going out to the restaurant to eat but it was running over fifteen bucks a person and it was crowded in there, so they eat at the park for now and will later use the senior center for their meeting and lunch. Lots of sweets at that pre-diabetes class....

All I know is I caught it last year and barely felt it...however ended up with all the weird after effects which for the most part have subsided finally...still no smell. Since then I have been in direct contact even smoking with people who turned out to have had covid at the time. I don't mask I haven't had any shots and I haven't been sick again. I am not sure if being vaxxed makes it easier or harder to contract covid but I know having it once and getting over it seems to do the trick as far as immunity goes.

Similar experience here and with most in my area. Never really had any kind of lockdown for anything. Went to plenty of my kids sporting events with up to a couple thousand in close proximity in bleachers with no issue.

Oldest daughter and I both tested positive a while back. She lost some taste/smell for a few days. Nothing with me.

I had Covid in January, so I ran to get the vaccine when it was available for my age group. Same with my husband. Because we had Covid our families also ran to get vaccinated immediately when there age groups were available. The alpha strain was really awful. This new virus seems even more awful. Get vaccinated and stop playing mind games. Three family members in medicine think people are being fools not getting their vaccines. This is a very scary virus, you don't know how your body will react.

I know of at least 6 vaccinated that got the virus, 5 about a month ago. One poor 17 year old had covid, then got vaccinated, then got covid again.

Today, I read on FB....a woman in my neighborhood who bragged about being twice vaxxed and how everyone who did not get vaxxed would get sick and probably die of covid and make everyone else sick. Well, she ended up in the ER yesterday because she is very very sick with COVID....and her and her husband, who are both drama queens, are begging for attention, by posting about how sick she is. She got vaxxed about 2 months ago.
And then he posted later in the afternoon that him and his kids have covid now. He is vaxxed too. His kids are not.
So miss vaxxinated was all over town exposing others and got her family sick in the process!!!

What was the point of the vax? She is super sick with covid now and she has no idea what will be happening to her body days from now, months, years. It was not even worth being a lab rat for an experiment.

I read that the vaccine is causing people to not have such horrible symptoms - SO THEY ARE THE REASON THIS IS SPREADING AGAIN....because they dont feel sick but they are sick and out spreading their sickness. The vaccine does not keep people from getting sick. In fact, it probably is MAKING PEOPLE SICK but everyone does not feel it...so they go out in public and spread it.

If you are vaccinated. STAY HOME and mask up if you must leave! You are a danger to everyone else!

I don't know a single person that has covid that has been vaccinated

Then again,

I don't know a single person that has covid that hasn't been vaccinated either

But apparently my city was a hot spot for the longest time and there were cases galore?

I did hear from this one guy, who heard it from his friend's wife that someone she works knew someone that had covid and died though.

Does that count?

In terms of scary viruses this ranks pretty damn low...have you not heard of all the hundreds of viruses in the world you can catch and have pretty good odds to die from? Also you do know once you have had covid you have about a 1% chance to catch it again...not sure what the chances are on adverse vaccine reactions because they've barely been a thing long enough to study and a lot of info seems to be surpressed if it doesn't match the political narrative.

The questions you are asking are very good ones and I would love to know the answer to them but to early to get them.
Everybody I know has been vaccinated. Of everyone I know only two of us have gotten covid after our vax. My good friend in Dallas and me when I was in Dallas the other month. Third time for me getting it and the second time for him.
I won't go into details about health conditions and what not. I will say I am very cautious when out doing things. For some reason the covid likes me too much.
Just for posting this I will not be surprised if my PM box gets blown up with threats towards me again.

We should not jump to conclusions there is still a think called flu!
