Whether you are pro or anti, the stance of ones own personal health status has usually been something we keep private from strangers or occasionally even close family and friends.
I was inspired to write this thread for 2 reasons.
One...An acquaintance was attending an appointment. Another person in the waiting room thought it polite general conversation to ask my friend if they had gotten their second dose shot yet. To which my friend replied with a laugh but seriously that they hadn't even got a first dose yet.
The other person literally got up and left.

Secondly. ..The same question was posed by a local radio station to many mixed answers. Even some who were fully vaccinated felt it was not polite to simply ask someone without just cause as it violated their privacy and pointed out that you wouldn't generally ask other health related questions up front without the person initially feeling comfortable enough to share details of their health status.
I know the virtue signalling causes many to yell it from the rooftops. There are stickers, pins and some even went as far as having tattoos to show off their vaccination status. Does this avoid the obvious questions? Sure...But at what point is it impolite to ask?
According to a few other responses from the radio station post...Asking others allows you to make the decision to interact with unvaccinated people and that you have every right to do so. Does this cross a line for anyone? Is this a slippery slope?

I don't ask anyone, I just try to see if I can stick metallic objects to their arms. If I can get paperclips and house keys to stick I know it's one shot, if I can get a 10lb dumbbell to adhere I know they had the second.

I don't see the problem. I want to respect others. I just want you to stand against it the day they force the vaccination. Vaccinated or Not, letting the power to a government to inject you with mRNA (which can produce any proteins!) is a dumb idea. What's next? Meat intolerance? Don't laugh, they are talking about that... The worst is that if you don't stand now, the next vaccine will be delivered by a viral factor that is transmissible BETWEEN humans...

In general, I'm not exactly an overly-friendly cheerful type of person, so strangers don't usually talk to me anyways, but if someone asks me whether or not I have been vaccinated, I will just quietly stare at them with no change of expression. They will then walk away and try to forget they ever tried talking to me. It works out well for me. I don't like most people anyways, and I don't care whether or not they're vaccinated.

As a more direct answer to the OP, I don't have a problem with people asking once, but they better not have a problem with me not answering...

That is a violation of HIPAA law .
My doctor knows and that is all that matters.

"So , dont ask me
None of my business
And I wont tell you goodbye

I said don't ask no stupid questions
And I won't send you away
If you want to talk fishin'
Well, I guess that'll be OK "

One person asking another person is not a violation of HIPAA.

HIPAA pertains to healthcare providers and insurers.

If an unvaxxed person is a danger to you or if you are at risk of transmitting covid to someone who is vulnerable then your perfectly entitled to ask their status.

It's like if you have a nut allergy your perfectly entitled to ask if someone or something might set your allergy off.

A true anti vaxxers should be more than happy to tell you that they're not vaxxed as they're like vegans in that regard. Often they will estole the virtues of their lifestyle choice without being asked.

The ones to watch are the trans vaxxers. They have one foot in the closest and won't fully commit to the anti vax lifestyle. The won't get vaxxed but they want the advantages of you thinking that they are.

Transvaxer can get weird if you challenge them.

If you think I am a danger for you, I'll leave no problem. Your vaccinated privilege the government and the society give you will be short spanned. I won't live long anyway when your kind will authorise the government to round us up. Then... You'll be the next.

I'm not exactly sure what a 'true anti vaxxer' is, but I am sure that not everyone who has not been vaccinated, is a 'true anti vaxxer'.

Do you feel shame about not being vaxxed, or are you afraid that other people might judge you or discriminate against you if you tell them that you aren't vaxxed?

If you're going to take a stand then you should own it, not hide it.

If you're going to enter somebody's personal space then you're making it their business what your status is.

It's like if your about to have sex with somebody and it's your responsibility to tell them that your last boyfriend had crabs.

This would be me as well. I've been told I have a resting bitch face that makes me look very unapproachable... Even with a mask on. I do try to be polite to cashiers though and doubtful they would ever ask vaccine status.

When you're dealing with a communicable disease things are slightly different as your health could impact on other people's health.

For example it's normal in a public pool for there to be something about diorea or verruca. And if you go into a water park with a rash they would normally ask about it.

If you start sneezing in a care home or maternity ward they'd ask if it were just allergies or if you had a cold.

IMO, I think it's impolite to ask if someone has been vaccinated, I personally do not care who is or who isn't, and it's surely no one business but mine. If someone were to ask me if i was vaccinated I would say it's none of your bsuiness. If they don't like that answer, i don't care, they don't need to know my personal information. People need to stay out of other people's business is what they need to do. You also don't need to tell anyone if you are vaccinated or not, it goes against HIPAA. Which means we do not have to disclose our Helath Information to anyone unless we consent to it.

Then why bring it up at all, particularly in a situation where it doesn't apply?

You conglomerate someone sick and someone that didn't take a profilatic treatment that doesn't event prevent transmission (40% of your vaccinated friends still are vulnerable, following the number of the gouv. propaganda ). With the privilege they will give you, the vaccinated will be the one to transmit it, while I work at home locked down because you are collaborating with tyrants.
