Vaccine Etiquette

Of course it's rude to demand people's vax status! It shouldn't even be a question. But it won't work out well.

I can see this ending the same way as sending all the smokers outside...

Folks will feel quite proud and self-righteous about it all until they see the smokers all having more fun together outside than they are inside. And suddenly all the nonsmokers want to be outside with the ones having all the fun.

But, of course, this is also a built-in excuse for all the hermit types to gleefully shun society to do their own thing in peace and revel in their solitude.

And some folks might even identify as vaxxed one day... and identify as non-vaxxed the next. You know... those who identify as vax fluid!

I'm honored to spur a mod response so soon in my posting career! What does my finances or my communications have to do with injecting an uncertified, substance into my body for a virus no more dangerous to me than the Flu, that despite all the hooplah, I never encounted once? I never followed ANY of their rules, none of my crew did. We survived the pandemic. So did 99% of this country. Wish I could say the same for small business owners but a response for another day.

I will sit on my high horse. I never once chased the governments carrot on a stick. I knew over a year ago it would be built to the fever pitch we're at now. Where a majority of conversation on this issue turns into "choke on covid and die antivaxer", what moral pedestal or high ground should one take? Understanding? For cowards?(99% survival rate) I'll pass. The whole "forgive them they know not what they do" speal.

All in all I did come to ATS to try and finetune more civil discourse than what social media has turned into, so I will heed your words kind mod!

In general, I'm not exactly an overly-friendly cheerful type of person, so strangers don't usually talk to me anyways, but if someone asks me whether or not I have been vaccinated, I will just quietly stare at them with no change of expression. They will then walk away and try to forget they ever tried talking to me. It works out well for me. I don't like most people anyways, and I don't care whether or not they're vaccinated.



As a more direct answer to the OP, I don't have a problem with people asking once, but they better not have a problem with me not answering...

I do the same when forced to deal with people. I recently had a woman say to her kids, so I could hear it, "he looks like he doesn't want to be bothered". I just nodded and kept about my business.

To the op, I was at a graduation party yesterday and vaccinations never got brought up. It was great, not one person felt the need to virtue signal. :-)

End of day people can ask whatever they want.

What i wonder is what will be the outcome when their told to MYOB.

Just as someone may feel they have the right to ask, equally others have the right to non disclosure.

Remember folks - You have the right to remain silent......legally.

I tell people that I have been vaccinated when asked. I don't go into specifics, it was for cooties when I was 6, but I can honestly say that I have been vaccinated.
