Well stated YouSir. Without dissenting voices, all you have is bias confirmation and an echo chamber. That's not what ATS is about. If you post something, be prepared to have it challenged.

Sounds like Facebook or Yahoo with the cute little invite only groups which is to say it sounds lame.

Ummm…and I do so…love a challenge…

A little less tongue in cheek though…is the very open factual evidence…that having an opinion or thought challenged…is such fertile ground for growth and further exploration…

That’s why I seldom do threads that require sourcing another’s material…to me it seems like I’m poaching someone else’s work in an attempt to justify the fact that I couldn’t birth an original thought…

Not saying that sourcing doesn’t have it’s place…but…man…I get so much more enjoyment and edification from delving into originality…and creativity…

Of course…aren’t we all really just monkeys tapping away at keyboards…in vain efforts at coherency…?

Someone starts a controversial topic.
Suddenly those opposed come in and start off topic banter.
Thread goes on for 6 pages, after page one has had a few valid replies.
Pages 2-6 are the same few people talking together about their own off topic opinions.
Thread dies.

I don't agree with invite only. But I do think something needs to be done to stop the current set of members who do nothing but post inane comments to be applauded by other like minded members.

That is a real thing.. at least to a casual observer.

A challenge is to counter an opinion with a valid differing opinion. Not to jest.

Well said. Once again you understand what I was apparently unable to say in ATS lingo.

And I still don't see what's wrong with the invite suggestion. Is that big of a deal if a person is not chosen? Are the feelz that strong with ATSers. Seems weak to me.

Do I offend or bruise peach skins by just suggesting that?

How do you not see it as exclusivity?

Because you want to start threads exclusive to the people you invite.
And if its a decent thread the rest of us that would like to participate cant.

I know I'm not the only one that sees it from my perspective.

By the way, you'd be the SECOND person I'd invite to a thread.

Klassified is first on the list.

Don't look at it as second place being first loser, look at it as "There can be only one". Then two, three, I'm sure you know the rest, at least up to 33.
