This happened within the past hour.

I'm still shaking...and keep thinking about what just happened...and how I'm still here.

Was on my ladder, working outside, trying to remove some vines from the top of the tall evergreens lining the driveway.
Ladder tips over...throwing me hard...a good 6 feet down to the concrete below.
I could feel myself falling...and helpless.
Landed on my back...and realized I was still conscious.
I had lain there, not moving, for what could've been a minute or two...assessing my damage.
I had assumed that given the force, height and surface I hit...something must be broken.
I was also amazed that my head never slammed into the cement...and I still can't figure out how it didn't.

Slowly getting up...I realized nothing was broken.
The only soreness I have is in my left hand and right ankle...with a couple of scrapes on my forearms.

Honestly, I am so thankful nothing broke or my head wasn't cracked open.
That, so easily, could've been the case.
Nobody would've come across me for a long time...if I had been seriously injured...or worse.

Again...I'm very thankful...but, honestly, it was something close to a miracle that I was able to get up and walk away from this.
Still shaking...and still don't understand.

I'm calling it a small miracle.

Good to hear you are OK. I think we all get a few "mulligans" in life, I know there's been a few times I should have gotten my ticket punched. The last time was 2yrs ago, hydroplaning my truck on the freeway at 70mph and doing a 180 before hitting the center barrier at the perfect angle to stop the truck dead without flipping or caroming back into traffic. I am forever grateful for those "small miracles".

Glad you were lucky and not injured permanently !!!!!!

Consider 2 ladders with a plank walk in the future !! 😊

Pretty freaky when you walk away from some things
Bouncing head should have, could have, still pumped up with adrenaline, maybe not feeling the pain just yet
Miracle maybe you survived but be gentle on yourself, some injuries take time to show up

Glad you are good

These near misses make you appreciate things in life just a little bit more.

Have you ever seen a ladder match??

Count your blessings but now you know what it feels like.
Safety first next time.

Good thing the ring didn't have a concrete floor.

Be careful, try not to go to sleep just in case you did bang your head until you know that you are ok, this even if you escaped injury may still result in a shock to your system.

If you are shaking you are still in mild shock, get a sweet hot drink, cup of tea or (weak or decaf) coffee (unless you are diabetic) and sit down, relax, give it a break until you feel better, don't be rushing back to it until you do and next time get someone there to hold the ladder for you if there is anyone.

Thank God you are safe.

I'm happy you're ok brother. Just a bit of advice..before sleep tonight, have a friend or loved one grab you som Traumeel, arnica cream and tabs..something along those lines.

I'd expect the real pain to be there this evening and tomorrow morning.

Maybe an epsom salt bath tonight. Glad you didn't whack your head.

Soreness is only hiding. Wait until tomorrow. Delayed soreness is a cruel mistress.

I'm very glad to hear you aren't seriously injured though. That could have been a very nasty tumble.

I recently tried to kill myself and my family too. By the grace of God, I failed, but I honestly don't know how. It's a bit of a story, but this is your thread.
