What the hell are you even on about. Open your eyes you fool. Racism exists in every race, discrimination and racism is not only perpetrated by white people. You are not even worht discussing this with honestly

Ummm…methinks TonyS was ladling out a real healthy portion of sarcasm…to go with the greasy chicken…

All of it is pretty nasty, and I'm far from some health person. When you watch a movie like Super Size Me you get a clue to just how bad that food type is to the human body. Its OK to eat now and then, but you could also take heroin now and then too and your body would recover...lol

Lets us know how it works out...

Lol..will do! I do have a flaw, in occasionally liking crappy fast food, to my own detriment I know, maybe once a month. I mostly do my own cooking though..and it is not the best, nor worst. I'm probably a bit light on the fruits and veggie intake..but there is usually some there.

It's not their fault though.

They live in food deserts, and even if they didn't, they can't afford to eat healthy after they eat fast food.

I know you are being sarcastic, but have you priced fast food lately?

16 Pc. Meal with 4 Large Sides & 8 Biscuits $43.28

You can get good whole·some meals down to 3 or less bucks per in cost.

Yes, I have priced fast food which is why I said it.

I have also heard that same justification. We have to eat fast food because who can afford to eat healthy?

I don't get it myself because it's cheaper to make your own every time if you pay attention, and it's almost cheaper to at least eat healthier options on a better restaurant menu than it is to eat fast food.

Agreed, cooking is generally cheaper, especially here, but nothing is cheap like the states. And I have heard, meals at sit downs in the US are pretty big portion wise..from what I see, could cover 2 meals at a sit down here.

I have to think the "value" menu's are utilised a lot, by the poorer folks.

I have done cost of actual meals in the past on ATS, such as a 50 lbs of rice is about 25 to 40 bucks. If you bought the cheaper rice that is 300 cups of cooked rice. Chicken thighs are well under 1 buck a pound, so lets say 80c a pound and you get 20 pounds...lol

300 cups of cook rice = 25 bucks
20 pounds of thighs (70 thighs) = 16 bucks

There is the cost of a 16 piece family meal at KFC.

Many times if it is just my wife and I we will get one meal and share and I'm 280 lbs... lol

I was talking with a friend the other week and it is down to food I wouldn't typically make to where I would eat out anymore. We can go to a higher end local steak house and pay 300+ for 4 people. Then they add 20% tip, 3.5% employee health cost, 8.5% state tax so on and so forth...lol

I could buy 4 top grade 16+ oz 2 inch steaks with all the trimmings for 100 bucks or less and cook it myself if I wanted top stuff for something fancy. Plus I could make Old Fashions all day for the price of 2 at a restaurant.

Last Popeye’s I had the red beans were a dried up crusty mess that was glopped onto the rice (that had also dehydrated back to crunchy rice....never ate at another one again. That was 7-8 years ago.

Went in around 2pm so after the lunch rush, but well before the sides would have looked like that.

I had an assignment up in Rapid City SD. The one Popeye's there is run by locals from the Rez. I went there twice, each time I received dry over cooked chicken. The KFC a block down, has a line of cars in the drive through that goes out to the street.

Yes, a typical meal is actually more like two or even two and half or three depending on what it is and where you go. It's one of the ways we justify eating out - we figure we're actually getting at least two meals when we do it.

Bojangles is much much better. For a large chain all the food at Bojangles is good.

I had Popeye's once, in February of this year. Got a 12 piece with mashed potatoes and biscuits. It was not bad....but I don't see me eating there again. But the mashed potatoes were great.

I'm an eastern NC southern boy, my faves are B's BBQ, Bill's BBQ, Parker's BBQ, Cherry's BBQ, and Godwin's. B's and Parker's is all that's left, unfortunately.

Don't get me started on KFC. I worked at one, I don't eat KFC anymore. Their freaking biscuits come in frozen now. When I was child Kentucky Fried Chicken was the spot, it was a treat, only ate there on Sunday and maybe once every two months, always packed and more of a restaurant than fast food back then, no drive thru, and the food was almost as good as grandma's.

It's hard to find a good place to eat anymore. Which now I prefer cooking at home anyway, there's something about home cooked food that's so much better.

My family would always eat out, usually Sunday for big meals, and occasionally the FF burger joints, but it was always the mom n' pop's burger joints that had the best burgers. Where I'm at most of those local joints are just memories now.

From 2011 to 2015 me and Dad ate at Bojangles three to four times a week, sometimes breakfast, sometimes lunch, and sometimes dinner. Only complaints I ever had was the sausage patties shrunk and the tea pitchers would not get cleaned properly and the tea would have a rancid taste. Those pitchers have to have the black nozzles taken apart, I've worked at several places that didn't clean the nozzles thoroughly, same for fountain drink nozzles. I don't care to eat out because of the things I saw while working at food places, from Hardee's to Pizza Hut to Domino's to KFC to local pizza joints to a gas station Hot Stuff Pizzeria to a four star restaurant with $25 prime rib plates and a seafood restaurant on the coast. I'm hell in a kitchen and I put heaven on a plate, it's in my DNA, well it was anyway.

Popeye's... Nope. I'll pass. If I have to buy it, hah.

I watched a gang shooting while being only slightly out of the line of fire at the Popeye's in my original hometown many years ago.

Was young and had never seen a human die before.

Have seen quite a few news reports of Popeye's incidents nationwide since then.

It's the only thing I ever think of when seeing their sign.

Personally, I'd rather they just ban everyone and shut down all their locations right now.

But I'm sure that's just me.

I remember when KFC used to be that way too, but then it changed. I also recall when Church's chicken was pretty darn good too. Heck, time was when you could usually get decent fried chicken from the local grocery store.

Man I STILL haven't eaten at Church's, don't know where one is at.

And as a kid, grandma would get us a chicken bag from Red & White grocery. A drumstick, thigh, and two cornsticks for two bucks. And it was awesome.

Is Popeye's soul food? I think every culture out there does fried chicken. It's like in the week following the first week of creation God created chicken and then he created fry oil and decreed the two might never be apart.

I can see why you feel that way. Seeing things like that are not easy to get over. The skating rink in my hometown was closed by the city because of the violence and it was directly beside a Resthome.

If things don't change, a lot of businesses are going to shutdown. There's a thread on Walgreen's or CVS closing in "certain" areas... But....rayciss if I point out facts.

Feels... Yeah.
