and it was really hard to keep as calm as i did...

It's evening here, i live across the street from the beach, weather's been nice so decided to take my dog for an evening stroll down the beach. It's a fairly secluded place. Not too many people around. I've got my dog off leash. He's well behaved, never had a problem with people or other dogs.

An older couple pops out out of the forest with their dog, my dog goes running up tail wagging all happy and #, that thing dogs do, their dog starts barking and freaking out, next thing you know dude runs up and power kicks my dog in the face.

Holy #...

I lost my # start freaking out, my dog runs back to me all freaked out...dude's wife starts booking it back into the forest when i started yelling...i start asking dude what gives him the right to kick someone else's dog when that dog's not doing anything to them and how he'd feel if i went over and kicked his dog...dude starts stammering about how he wouldn't like that and asked if i wanted to talk about it, i asked him how about instead i just kicked him in the #ing head...he left rather abruptly.

Some folks who'd been sitting the beach with a dog of their own who'd met my dog earlier and had watched the whole thing were fairly disgusted by the actions of those people.

Honestly some people just shouldn't #ing own dogs. I'm sorry...but some people really shouldn't.

Congratulations on your self-restraint.

I would have been in jail after that incident because it would have ended... differently.

I value my dog's well-being a lot more than any humans.

Simply because they are worth more to me emotionally than most humans will ever be.

I don’t know how you kept your cool like that, probably not the first time he has done that. People like that deserve a bat to the head. Hope your dog is doing well.

It mostly came down to dude deciding to high tail it after i asked.him how'd he'd like if i kicked him in the head...i wasn't kidding...i also mentioned how i was wearing steel toes...i was...he made a good decision in that 10 seconds, both of us could have been having a real lousy night.

You don't kick someone else's dog without reason...

I wouldn't have spoken to him.

I probably wouldn't have been able to.

There are VERY few circumstances with me that makes the red cloud come and I will sort it out later...

My dogs welfare is one of them.

I'm still pissed off just thinking about it...

LOL

My dog's a tough brute...didn't phase him much to be honest, at that point is was the principle. He's kinda lucky my dog is not actually nuts and didn't respond the way some would at that. Probably woulda done worse damage than i could. He's one of those breeds that garners spite and hate for the way he looks and he's not even what most people actually thinks he is. Had a cop question me once because i was walking, on leash with him through town.

Agreed , I would have went blind with rage if someone kicked my Dog .

I would have came too later in the back of a Police car .

It's the innocence of our animals that send us over the edge .

I was just trying to say that you are a better person than I am.

I have one large dog and two small rat terrier mixes that when I go out in the woods find my food, scare the bears away and are my ears and eyes when I sleep.

I'm a recent widow and they are my... comfort right now.

To put yourself in a potentially hazardous situation for a dog is a silly thing to do if you are a rational person.

But I've done it with eagles, I've done it with cougars...

All of which I have more respect for than the average human being.

I should probably work on that, but the world right now isn't giving me much of a reason to.

Was their dog small and yours big?

I'm just asking because I was in a similar situation.
I had my dog on leash and this dude had is "well behaved" dog
off leash and was not "well behaved"...
If it came at my dog or me I would have done something similar. I am a big dog lover too.

Nah, almost the same size. Same height, less bulk. Their dog was some kinda wiry haired terrier mine's an American bully, about 20 inches tall or so just over 50lbs.

I hope your dog is OK. Is it possible the people saw your dog first without you and thought it was a stray rabid dog or something?

It just seems weird that other dog owners would do that out of the blue.

Or are you in Florida, if so then any reasonable explanation is sometimes not needed.

No i live in BC. People have a thing about dogs that resemble pitbulls or other similar dogs here. They get fairly emotional and aggressive. My sister's got three pitties, she's dealt with it a bunch, the person i got my dog from deals with it over my dog's mom and brother.

The thing is, i can't imagine how a person who feels like it's ok to kick a stranger's dog without reason treats their own dog. I just kinda feel bad for whatever dog is owned by a piece of # like that. There's a reason his dog can't deal with meeting other dogs.

Dogs are naturally pretty friendly and pack oriented. They respond to their owner's emotion and reactions.
