There's also more than enough bald idiots on high horse willing to body-slam you for whatever reason like not wearing mask or just not being cooperative (submissive) enough. Macho fitness club types with low IQ. Dogs trained by liberals. Government will always cover governments ass unless the left media say otherwise. They should test them more. Who cares if they weigh 400 pounds?

It's an article about the exit interviews of Portland, Oregon police when they quit the force.

One officer's quote:
"Additionally, the mayor and council ignore actual facts on crime and policing in favor of a radical leftist and anarchist fantasy."

"The only difference between the Titanic and PPB? Deck chairs and a band."

A training officer who left said officers were "de-policing out of fear of being accused of excessive force."

Anyway. Homicide and car theft are way up. Last year when Governor Brown asked nearby counties to send officers to help with the protests and stuff, they all declined. Refused to send their officers into a situation where they would not be allowed to arrest anyone, and those they could arrest would probably not be tried for anything.

I live in an area about 2 miles outside the Portland city limits. I drive through Portland to the other side of town on my way to work.

From the Willamette river halfway up US 26 there are homeless encampments in the trees off the side of the highway. On the eastside its even worse. A massive homeless city is right near OMSI, graffiti, trash, and drugged out people wander aimlessly throughout downtown all the way out to NE 102nd. The city reeks. It smells like burnt tires and rotten food.

I have not seen a single Portland Police vehicle on the freeway in over 6 months. No one is enforcing traffic laws. Friends of mine that called the police to help with random homeless people invading their private property have yeilded either no response, or just a phone call from an officer.

Everytime I drive through I'm reminded of the old graphic novel called "the Watchmen"....

"The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood, and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'SAVE US!'...and I'll look down and whisper.... 'No.'

It's like so many other things in the world today. A small percentage of cops are bad, so let's punish them all. Guilty until proven innocent rules the day.

I’m thinking Children Of Men scenario where people were transported cities turned into giant gulags and all kinds of gang wars, shooting, fighting paramilitary style...

Yea, just about anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together saw this coming.

Don't worry. Social workers will soon be out to respond to 911 calls.

I think it's a wonderful idea, let those social workers hit the streets and see how it works out for them.

In fact, Chicago should be doing the same, and Minnesota as well. All the cities and state that have officers quitting, or reducing their force should use all that money to hire social workers.

They can give us the reports in 24 months too.

They should get through to a message that says "The service you have requested has been defunded" "Please try the coast guard for help"

For the decent people in the world like you I feel truly sorry for.

What do you feel is the main reason for the descent into chaos? There's a reason I'm asking, because I've lived it for decades firsthand in the Detroit area.

I have no exposure to the people you reference. I hear about them a lot. But most of the cops in my area are just normal people.

Ideology. There are beliefs amoungst the ruling class in the State of Oregon that are completely antithetical to the needs of the people. Government keeps increasing in size, while the private sector (the tax base) continues to shrink.

Property prices have risen beyond the point of affordability for the working class. Mostly due to out of state buyers, and the artificial tightening of the urban growth boundaries. The regional government doesn't allow cities to expand on their own. Preferring instead to reach a maximum population density in the urban areas before expanding. This creates horribly grid locked traffic, increases dependence on mass transportation, and creates housing scarcity which drives prices up, which, in turn, exacerbates the homeless crisis.

ANTIFA is a very real organization. Despite what the President says. I have seen them, with my own eyes attack police, pull people out of cars, set fires all over the city. They routinely attack small and large businesses alike, and they march through neighborhoods attacking people and homes that display american flags. The Mayor and the DA support them. I know that sounds absurd, but it is the truth. The police have had thier hands tied behind thier backs by the people in charge of them.

Oregon destroyed it's largest industry, Timber, in the name of preserving the environment. Now that most of the timber industry is gone, the forest is uncared for, and as a result, dangerous wildfires burn out of control. Just walk through the Mt. Hood national forest. You can feel it at your feet, the spongyness of the forest floor. Every step you take is on top of several feet of deadfall. Beneath your feet is the largest tinderbox on Earth, just waiting for a spark.

Oregon is a state that is hopelessly in debt, it's industry is in shambles, it's tax base is fleeing, it's schools are in chaos, and it's on fire half the year.

You wanted to know why it's like this? How this happened? I'll tell you.

One Party Rule. The Democrat Party has outright been in control of every branch of government, at every level for decades. Democrat appointees run the Oregon school system, the DOT, and police. They create new government departments, and appoint thier friends and family to run them.

Regardless of what anyone may think. There is simply no way to shift blame to any other political party. The other parties don't even come close to having a majority. Nothing they present even gets considered, or debated. Every single thing the Democrats ask for, they get. All of thier solutions have resulted in instability, and decay.

It's the same wherever Democrats are in charge.

Well that was a great read, it needs a thread of it own, seriously.

It's sad, because the Democratic party that used to exist wasn't this parasitic, and actually had reasonable members in it. When we talk about draining the swamp, I'm a full believer we need to drain it all, new parties, zero lobbyist's, and corporations don't get to write bills like they are doing currently.

Also all these 6 digits federal and state employees that are getting pensions are going to sink us as well, people cry about socialism, but we have ridiculous social programs that are disguised as high pensions, and full medical when people retire are draining the working class people. Most people in the real-world working sector don't have any golden parachute, but the government takes from the working class, and give to their own. Rome fell in a similar way.

It's 100% not sustainable, and will implode.

Thanks for sharing.

Don't worry, we will be much safer when we have a fully federalized police force to keep us safe. /sarcasm

That is what the whole defund and hatred towards the police being socially engineered is all about. Remember it wasn't too long ago that the Bidens were trying to get rid of Sheriff's thru out the US? Surprisingly enough they are the only elected law officers we have left.

That actually makes the most sense of any explanation I've heard so far!

I remember back in September, when I wanted to know what was going on with these fires we were having in Oregon, I did a search and found three separate people, in three separate counties, had been arrested for deliberately starting fires. All three of them over 40.

My point? Local police caught them.

There was no way for anyone at the federal level to call them and be all like "good job guys. We'll take it from here!!" and then the story never gets reported.

It turns out there were actually 6. And here's a link to a "damage control" article that tries to make them all sound like separate and completely coincidental events.

nypost.com...

The power of having autonomous local police is that there's no central command. So you can't just bribe one person and get a police stand down.

Oregon's biggest industry is actually tourism. It comes from having a low population, and several natural tourist attractions around.

That's what makes the politics so ironic: You vote democrat because you think they'll protect the forests. (Rather than turn it into a tinder box.)

We used to vote democrat because they were the "don't be ignorant", or "read a book" party. But they totally ignore all the data on old growth forests vs. periodic cuts. Doesn't fit with the belief system that all environmental harm is human made.

They don’t want police, let them live with the consequences.

I am sure whatever Cartel or Triad that takes over will be happy to provide enforcement services in their stead.

Absolutely.

The unfortunately thing is no matter how things break apart, fail or reorganize our MO as human beings always finds some type of order by establishing enforcement of laws, sometimes it's better, and many times it's worse for long periods.

It's cycles this earth will go through until we evolve to a higher level of understanding.

Unless they are black, asian, or somehow aligned to Antifa, I don't think they'll get very far.

Portland police are still allowed to bust white people. Especially conservative white people.

So I live in Washougal and my wife and I went to the Costco in Portland looking at a new Barbecue, and then we went to a liquor store we know near the Rose City area and man was the homeless camps huge. Just massive trash everywhere and just an over all look as if the whole area is in decline. Then once we got back across the bridge in WA all the why home not a single tent anywhere... A lot of construction going on everywhere, nice neighborhood etc, no trash anywhere etc. I looked at my wife as were were half way home and said, do you see the difference between Portland area and here? She said it was striking...

I'm glad to know what I'm seeing isn't happening everywhere. I live in, and basically never leave Portland. Homeless camps have become normal to me!

And a day never goes by that I don't hear a siren or see an emergency vehicle drive by me out on the road. Never.

Yeah...yeah...yeah. Again, just another attempt of the far-right to use hostile intent to maintain their fascist grip on the nation. But, how can I say such a thing? Right? Easy. But that requires facts to be heard. First of all, the "war on crime" of the eighties was unconstitutional and a power grab ploy by select elites to establish and maintain their rogue and fascist grip on the nation. In fact, prior to the war on crime, America existed after centuries to maintain our safe streets. Yet, the whole notion with their war on crime created much of the harm we see today. What we have is an oppressive nanny-police-state that mirrors the same as the Mafia in recent years. Again, how can I say such a thing? And again, easy once you look at the list of government reach and corruption. And once you realize their ploy aided with the "Hegelian Dialectic" method to sway public opinion and to accept draconian measures, you can see what was surrendered in the name of safety.

However, like so many constitution watch-dogs, I can care less for the "reasons" invoked to gain unlawful power for one reason alone. I happen to be more inclined with libertarian beliefs and dogma. That means I'm not one to accept the "logic" our elected officials use. For instance, human rights are a given by our maker. Period! They are not suggestions or privileges, but "RIGHTS." Our Constitution clearly makes that point. And, as a democratic republic, only amendments can alter the outcomes of that pesty document. And, that requires a two-thirds vote in the Senate to decide such matters. As it is now, we have the Mayor of New York, Bill De Blasio, deciding all citizens in his city limits to conform to anti-gun dictates. When asked by Sean Hannity if a single mother living alone without a man in the home should be denied a firearm for self-protection for her and hers, even if there is a high probability of a violent home invasion as seen in her block, Bill said, and I quote, " there is no reason to be armed in my city. We have the finest police force on the planet!"

Yet, when asked to answer the question yes or no, he refused to answer and resorted to the same comment over and over. Yet, New York has a history of putting callers on hold when they call the police. And, to assume such cases benefited all women concerned is beyond faulty. In fact, many brutal crimes resulted under those circumstances. But, ole Bill stands on his principles regardless of the harm to others. And, it should be noted ole Bill has armed escort whenever he moves around in public. Therefore, Bill attacks the Constitution and the Bill of Rights despite his oath that is contrary to his deeds. But, that is so normal today. Our "leaders" swear to uphold and defend the constitution only to piss on it behind closed doors. But, he's not alone! In fact, we see it all too often today in local, state, and federal jurisdictions. And, the excuse is always the same by proclaiming their need to keep you safe.

This brings me to another point I rarely cite. President Reagan said, "you have every right to be concerned when the federal government shows up and claims they are here to help you!" Personally, I have no affiliation with either political party. They both are insidious and corrupted. So, to refer to Reagan is a sore point. But, something I'm more interested in is the work of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. And, under the "leadership" of each party, we've lost too much too recently. Like ole Bill De Blasio, he, or they, trample on God-given rights regularly. Their "mission" to keep society safe is as phony as one can imagine. The recent "lock-down" of society is a good example. And, I who refuse governmental interference, refuse to call the police for any reason other than a true threat to life and or limb. I don't talk to the police and I don't mingle with them. And although many are good veteran cops needed for certain reasons, I still frown on any contact whatsoever.

And, I say that not as an enemy of the state, but one that is aware of government encroachment and far-reaching protocols. You see...they have you convinced of their presence and purpose. That is a huge mistake. And, once the door is ajar, you can expect their efforts that will eventually cause you harm. In other words, I want to be left alone. I don't want or need their protection or advice. I don't want their scrutiny and or attention. If and when I have to interact with the police, I'm always polite and cooperative. However, I know when they are fishing and seeking unwanted information that is basically none of their business. And, at the same time, blame society for allowing this overreach in the first place. Too many sheep being devoured by the wolves of our corrupted society. Plus, the stoic response of the public created this monster at your door. And, too many of you are satisfied with their pledges to keep you safe despite the fact living itself has its hazards and threats. And people like Mr. De Blasio won't make you safe despite his rationale.

No. Not at all. In fact, he's public enemy number one. He will promise you everything and fail to produce it. They are a dime a dozen. What you can expect, and will receive, is more government power designed to diminish you and yours. A public leach, if you will. Whose only desire is to appease his fellow elites and do so at your expense. And, they call that "leadership." My ass! They don't lead, they force. The rights and privileges are not for you, but for others, you don't know or have any affiliations with. And, while they are playing the game to enrich themselves, they do so on your dime. In fact, the only protection you have or had was and is the constitution they destroy. Dubya" Bush called it a "damn piece of paper" and his father, H. W. Bush, said, "we'd hang them on the lampposts if we were aware of what they did to us." And in the final analysis, we are pitted between the liberal fanatics of the Utopian left and the pro-fascist of European fame.

Spoiler Note: you are no longer protected by the guaranteed rights of the Individual nor as a consumer too. You are left with the garbage of the elite's table once they are satisfied and they plan on their next attack to devoid any semblance of the age of enlightenment. It's always the "big me, little you scenario. So, here we go again. When people are angry with the recent attacks of illegal police powers, the far right is in the business to convince you that this is necessary and used to keep you safe. They will tell you that these police officers only want to go home after their shifts whole and healthy while neglecting to say anything about the fact that is a shared concern among everyone. And, at the same time, the far-right vilified organized labor and their contracts, they depend on the major police unions to support their agenda. Plus, after the early eighties, we have the RICO Act, Asset Forfeiture, Qualified Immunity, and lacking state laws that excuse police shootings on unarmed citizens. Of course, recent events created an atmosphere for policing reforms, but once that is discussed in any serious form, an army of paid-shills are working overtime to convince you of the need for this forced police state to exist.
