now what is it about black businesses that Google wants to tell me?

Where they are located.

Perhaps Black people have more reason to be concerned about this than White ones. Pogroms often commence with a list of names and addresses.
So why does Google want to draw special attention to them? Stop being a troll. Interesting you view this in black vs white terms, I certainly didn’t add that to the conversation.

I am shocked and horrified to find Google supporting and indeed aiding White Supremacist boycott of minority businesses!

Shameful and disgusting behaviour. #CancelGoogle.

They're also providing a handy list of places for BLM and ANTIFA to go burn and loot the next time cops end up shooting someone.

If you born after...

A list of all the special privileges you have enjoyed doesn't exactly forward your argument. But it may help you answer your own question.

Special privileges'?

You mean like special attention for my Google listed business just because of my skin color?

I think the special privilege argument is funny myself. I went to a standard issue American public school and came from a family that was barely above the poverty line. But, you know, I had all that privilege.

I had parents who knew my talents were my ticket to bigger and better things ... a lot like the parents of talented inner city kids. We didn't live like that, but we didn't live in the city, either. We lived in small town America and you can live better there on less money than you can in the city. My parents knew it.

I work for a subsidiary of a Global Corporation. A few weeks ago I had training on acquiring minority, woman and LGBT owned businesses as vendors. In certain areas if you want to bid on a contract you have to have a certain percentage of these businesses as vendors. This is nothing new. What is interesting is how many businesses have skipped around this by giving a 1% ownership to a token minority, woman or LGBT to be able to qualify as a vendor.

When I asked "Where does cost come into this? " I never got an answer.

Our city is building a new airport and there is the whole giving work to subcontractors who check off those boxes.

But, you know, I had all that privilege.

A new RAND study finds White Troops (especially the wimmenzes) tend to have more mental health concerns.

IOW, you're about to be targeted as soon as they work out the details on how to paint you into a corner with the rest of us whiteys.

But honestly it seems as though google is opting to use reverse sexism and racism as a means to decide what businesses you use.

100% they are. They don't care about minorities, racism or sexism they care about their narrative ,manipulation, money, and power.

That's why we think this feature is creepy. Why should it suddenly be a thing to care more about who is providing the service than whether or not the service is what you want to the standard you desire which is kind of what the Google feature implies?

Why?

So they can continue to kindle the # fire.

No other reason.

Read through every post and didn't see this mentioned so I'll be that guy because it is what it is.

No one is forcing anyone to patronize black owned businesses or any other business for that matter.

HOWEVER:

In principle, I will not be patronizing any black owned businesses by choice. No, I'm not racist or a "Uncle Tom". I guess I'm the only person who remembers that last year the so-called "black community" and Antifa destroyed my country to the tune of billions of dollars in damage and they showed not an ounce of mercy to businesses that had NOTHING to do with their supposed target oppressors. They didn't care and made off with millions of dollars of merchandise that the consumers will end up paying for by increased prices to offset the losses.

IT WAS, AND STILL IS, OPEN SEASON ON EVERYONE AND ANYTHING!!

So NO, I will not be rewarding such viciousness and unacceptable behavior by making it a point to seek out and patronize black owned businesses. They don't deserve it at all.

You will NOT receive my support for destroying other people's lives to improve your own. That would make me a complicit enabler which ain't gunna happen. #NEVERFORGET

When did calling bigotry bigotry become "soft" language??

Personally, being called a bigot would just about be the worst thing ever to be called. Trust me, I've been called many, many things in my life...

Lest you forget, some of the biggest victims of that behavior were minority owned businesses. They killed their own, and I mean that metaphorically. A lot of times, those small businesses that got burned and looted out were the only ones those communities had access to, and it wasn't the legit folks trying to make ends meet who were doing the burning and looting.

Same thing a couple dozen future cell wives (of both genders) did to businesses in downtown Grand Rapids -- stole from, damaged or otherwise destroyed a minority owner's livelihood. If the minorities in my own neighborhood (in suburbia) are truthful, the Behind-Backs tactic is to plaster left-leaning # on your business, not because they support them (boy, did that poof quick) but in the hopes they leave them alone next time (if there is a next time)

Fake allies. They've driven their Accessories-- I mean, other minorities they tried to gather behind them, into being fake allies. The P/A karma is kinda sweet, innit?

I mentioned that; the total disregard for anything and anyone else. That would, and did, include their own, yes.

So what am I supposed to do? Ensure my support is going towards the "mostly peaceful" side of the situation? How does one even determine that?

That's why for me personally, it's no support across the board. Actions have consequences regardless of race or whatever nonsense you want to conjure up to justify lawlessness.

There was very little effort made, if at all, to establish a division between those that were destroying and looting, and those that were actually protesting.

What Google and many others are doing is rewarding, enabling and encouraging lawlessness as a means to effect change. They are dismissing the foundations of right and wrong in favor of pandering to an illegitimate movement. It's social engineering at it's worst.

Folks that can't see that or are so guilt ridden beyond the ability to think critically will actually seek out these establishments having been mentally beat into submission that THEY are the problem, not the black community.

And quite frankly, where do these corporations get the balls to think that they speak for entire groups of people???🤷🏾‍♂️

It's insulting, demeaning and inappropriately assumptive.

Yeah Google sucks, they have a motto of 'dont be evil' and their battle plan is to get the entire world to give up their precious data for the 'betterment of humankind'.

Honestly after working for them for 2 years I figured out their main 3 crucial policies: 1 don't get us sued, 2 dont kill anyone, and 3 dont ever lose our precious data.

We had policy meetings several times a week sometimes, always pertaining to how moderators could obtain and secure 'data' legally. It was an ugly business. I was adding unwanted personal info to globally accessible databases based on messed up policies on a daily basis. I felt horrible about what I was doing; serving a giant soulless money making machine that didn't even have enough courage to pay its contractors a competitive wage.

It's very easy to see they are connected at the hip with the rest of the giant tech corps trying to sway public opinion of EVERYTHING

Nah, you just shop where you're going to shop and ignore the crap.

What happens if one of the businesses you regularly patronize and like happens to appear on that list? Do you stop using them because they're there now? As creepy as Google is about things, they may not even know their business is on that list.
