Btw, this is why you won't ever see that cute little graphic for white owned businesses.

I like Chinese food and prefer the restaurants owned by real Chinese people. I know some Chinese people and they are very concerned about not poisoning anyone, their foods are usually better that way than the chinese restaurants owned by most of the bigger corporations.

Why don't they have a button for Chinese owned restaurants...Oh yeah, that would be racist because letting people know a business is owned by an ethnic group might bring down haters on the group. If I was a black owner, I would not want my business listed on that site, I wonder if they are being told their business is listed that way. There are black owners who have almost all white employees and service white people's needs, this kind of irrational behavior on the part of Google could hurt their business.

I have google and Alexa robocalls constantly calling me and bugging me about my business. I keep telling them I am not interested in being listed on their sites, and they won't stop calling me even if I say I want to be removed from their list. Google will do anything to increase the money they make, I think those kind of businesses need to go to hell.

So now your internet search engine needs to specifically advertise to you based on the skin color of the business owner?

So let's say I am looking for handkerchiefs. Do you think Google should specially categorize only the black-owned shops with handkerchiefs at the top of their results for my consideration because, you know, equity? And then how else should they file results? How does the progressive stack look these days? Whose results should be put on page 3,000 and dickety-two?

I appreciate that...but if we're gonna talk about english...we could look into the etymology of bigot...

simple.wikipedia.org...

The origin of the word bigot in English dates back to at least 1598, via French. It started with the sense of "religious hypocrite", especially a woman.

I stand by my rant...

You can stand by it all you want and I applaud that you are still able to post it online.

However, as someone who uses English as a secondary language, I normally just stick to the definition of the word in the current sense as opposed to where it came from.

Definition of bigot:

: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.

especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (such as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

So again, you be you and I will be me.

See... some people are going to find a way to see it and throw accusations no matter what. You can't have a conversation about it without being a racist. No matter how you put it.

Why are we catering to such an irrational state of mind?

Well, I don't mind patronizing a shop with a minority owner if it's got what I want and performs the service I need, but I'm not going out of my way to pick and choose those shops based solely on whether or not they're owned just by a minority owner. I guarantee I patronize plenty of them, especially when it comes to food, both restaurant and shopping for food products.

But the idea that I'm making the owner's ethnicity a necessary feature when I go searching for a shop is kind of bizarre; it's as bizarre as the idea of trying to screen for correct politics.

Here's another aspect.

How does this potentially empower businesses to only serve certain segments of the population?

I agree, my only shopping rule is try to find what I want locally. I live in a very diverse place, I don't think I've ever frequented, or not frequented any business based on race.

After reading your comment, I looked up some of that guy's tweets. Kareem Carr. Wow, that guy's head is so far up his ass, he'd need a colonoscopy to even see it. It's hard to believe a human being can be that f'd up.
