Well I am a Christian so I strive for sanctification and don't give up.
But even non Christians must see the usefullness in finding the common ground over a civil war, .... right?
I, too, am a Christian. We can't sit here and continue to take hit after hit after hit while continuing to be the adults in the room. I refuse to sit here and let my country become lost and risk my church being shot up. Is it not enough already when we're having to put two armed men of the church in the foyer to make sure an armed man doesn't walk through and start killing our families? I agree with the call for unity but the other side is vehemently blocking and denying all attempts. Enough is enough.

This current division is an artificially created division over the last 12-13 years to keep people from actually uniting against the people that destroyed the economy in 2008 and have kept it afloat in a magic bubble of make believe nonsense ever since.

True unity among people means accepting them for who they are. There is nothing from the left that indicates they are willing to accept anything other than blind absolute allegiance to their agenda. The DHS has just issued a domestic terrorism alert identifying conservatives, based entirely on their political views, as the violent extremists targeted by the bulletin.
So yeah, lets all hug and sing cumbaya on the way to the reprogramming camps so we can be brainwashed drones just like the democrats.
[Chorus]
This is the home of the brave
But there's so many people full of greed
No more order 'cause we're busy bein' led on
By the fact we can't control what we see
I'm stuck between tomorrow and next week
But it's right where I'm at, that's what's best for me
But as it stands all the problems that we can't let be
That's why divided we fall in the land of the free
[Verse 1]
Man I'm sick of all the anger, the hate, the haste, the danger
The things we seem to think we think are really not that major
There's problems in the world that we don't hardly understand
Yet we bitch about 'em talkin' 'bout we got the master plan
Man the problem is we don't really even love each other
When we see a brother, we just really tolerate each other
It's a cold world, it's time to face the facts
If we don't step up and make a stand, we gon' stay on our ass
Man I can't turn on the news without a poisonous agenda
I don't trust the politicians much as I don't trust the system
Man I used to think that country meant that united we stand
Now we drop and stomp our flag as if it's only just a brand
And I ain't cool with that, if you cool with that, then we ain't the same and that's a fact
I'm a patriot and I'm proud as hell, I'm a country boy and I know it well
'Round here we grind our ass off, we say # with our mask off, and if it don't sound right, then we're down to fight
'Cause we ain't never been one to be passed off

One of the main pillars is language manipulation. And, it did indeed get kicked into high gear under Obama.

I think "unity" is a fine word. As the link above suggests, there is really no escape from the manipulation.
The Narrative around "unity" is essentially a "kumbaya utopia." Ludicrous, but thats what folks will fight over.
Id be very curious to see how many people deriding the concept, or saying things like "enough is enough," or "off the sidelines" laughed at those of us who have been talking about (and fighting) this stuff for 10-20+ years. How many ignored warnings about Agenda 21 and global corporations..
They still have absolutely zero idea what they are up against. Kinda seems like a bunch of folks just realized something is afoot in the last few years, and are now flailing their arms around. Id wager the majority havent looked beyond democrats or the CCP.
In reality, we just had quite a show of unity with regards to wall street. Now, Id temper that statement by saying it was one small skirmish on one battlefield in a much larger conflict. And its ongoing.. but its there.
Id also make the claim that politicians, our so-called leaders, are entirely obsolete. We have the technology to cut out that particular middleman. Sure, there would be some susceptibility to stuff like hacking.. Which would mean itd be exactly the same as now, just without the duplicitous "leaders."
The entire plan all along is to precipitate violent internal conflict to kneecap the west. This is accomplished almost entirely through media, social media, and algorithms.

Secede. Those who despise us can have their own government and we can have ours. I wouldn't kill anyone unless my or my family's life was in danger. My mom, sister, and wife all carry guns for protection so they won't have to face the dangers of rape or murder without at least a good fight. I think you have a great idea on how it should be, but the world we're living in is everything but the way it should be and nothing we do will help that. You should be well aware as it's written in the Bible.

I do, however see an alarming amping up of emotions and a widening chasm between nearly everyone (men-women, old-young, Dems-Repubs), and having studied enough history I know that we're by no means exempt from reaching the boiling point and devolving into all-out war.
Yugoslavians were also divided by an outside force. The country fell under the pressure.
I hope I'm wrong in my assessment.

I have posted a number of times about how the friend/foe AI and search algorithms basically drive people farther and farther left or right, so ya there is a lot involved here as to why people seem to be father from a more moderate level whether slightly left or right.

I don't know if I would assert confirmation from the overwhelming masses. I know a heck of a lot of people who would cut ties with all dem run states and never look back. People like me have always said things like, if dems want open borders so much let them keep whoever crosses in their state. Let their taxes support them. Let their hospitals care for them. Let their schools try to teach every class in multiple languages in the same time it takes to teach one class in one language. Let them raise entire generations of children with a fraction of an education and see how productive they are in the real world. If they want higher taxes, let them be the ones who pay them.
I, and many many people like me, have no problem with succession. Mainly because we definitely come out on top by a huge margin. Republican run states are typically so much better off than democrat run states its not even close. Lets split and form a republican run country and a democrat run country and see which one sinks first. I think we all know which one that would be.
There isn't a single democrat run state or city that would last a year if it had to depend entirely on its own party affiliated constituents for its cash flow. Without republican tax dollars they would be screwed in no time at all. I say let it happen. Maybe, just maybe then they will finally see the light.
