All this can be found here and that's just the most recent thread I can find of you talking about how bad this site is. The site you continue to post on, with increasing vigor post-election, is a site you have spent considerable time denigrating.

It's pretty telling that the effort to save ATS was populated by a wide variety of political ideologies. What was missing from that effort was the brigade of socialist holier-than-thou members that are so fond of community efforts, minority representation, and everybody contributing. Maybe socialists and communists aren't as fond of pitching in to the system they shill for as they claim.

As your quoted thread was, allow me to end it with a quote from DTOM in that thread which really seems to sum up everything nicely:

Why would you? You don't care about honest discussion or alternative views.

Nobody would think you cared about or remembered their posts because contrary to the alleged ideology Marxist adherents are actually oblivious to any opinions that deviate from that ideology.

People that adhere to ideologies that are fundamentally incompatible with freedom disregard the opinions and feelings of others through necessity. If you remembered and considered the views of others you wouldn't continue to hold the beliefs you do.

Political conspiracies, yes.

But ATS has been swamped with political based threads over the last few years.
Trump this, Biden that.
Left v Right, Republican v Democrat.
Pinko, commies v Jack booted Nazi's.
Ad nauseam.

Politics has drowned out the traditional core elements that attracted most of us here in the first place.
And it's quite vitriolic and has driven many good members away.

In addition it deters possible advertisers and investors.
Many companies no longer wish to be associated with ATS, not because of the 'out there' conspiracy theories but because of the political content.

Back in the day before the 'revamp' of ATS politics was a stand alone section of the site that had very little traffic.
The site was dominated by 'traditional' Conspiracy Theories, UFO's, Aliens, Ancient Civilisations, etc and it was a challenging environment.
And it had its light hearted side as well in BelowTopSecret.

And after the reboot far too many major contributors were either banned or felt obliged to desert the site.
I have no idea as to the why's that occurred - strictly speaking it has nothing to with me - but it was certainly detrimental to the quality of content here on ATS.....and politics stepped into the void.

The current owners are obviously drained and dismayed with the site - there's no doubt they've put a lot of time, effort, energy and dare I say it money into the venture and have had enough.
That's entirely up to them.
But unfortunately standards and content have dropped/changed to such an extent that no-one wants to buy the site etc.

Politics has killed ATS.

Surely the real reason for the disappearance of the "mystery" contribution to ATS life is that the relevant contributors had invested all their hopes in one grand "2012" conspiracy theory, which fizzled out into nothing.
The impact was visible within six months- I noticed it at the time- in terms of reduced weekly number of new threads, reduced frequency of new posts on the Recent Posts page, and so on.

2012, Nibiru nonsense, Flat earth and Electric universe were all well covered and represented on this site. However, you are correct, once all those things naturally fizzled out, the proponents of them usually just left. Over the last 10 years that has been an absolute decline is the crazy nonsense stuff, which was the bread and butter of this site.

For better or worse, that mostly just left politics to rant and rave over, especially the last couple of years.

Content like that puts advertisers off

I’m very glad to see that things are looking back on track here. I’m an occasional poster that’s looking forward to all the political posts drying up somewhat after January. Although I’ve been fascinated by them I won’t commit to posting on them as much as the traditional ATS threads.

Let’s reignite all those esoteric subjects, the supernatural, UFOs & the search for other life, secret societies, alchemy, secret military bases, alternative history, cryptids.... all that juicy mind expanding stuff. Whatever happens in Washington, it seems that all that talk only serves to divide posters and narrow minds. A separate section for politics that doesn’t aggregate on ‘recent’ has been talked about before.

I’m fully behind whoever takes up the reigns as long as we all get to visit and debate for years more. Thank you.

That was my point! You paste a layer on top of what you tans make the legacy stuff read only. Login credentials has nothing to do with content. And that is your end user agreement about “your” content here. The content is for (any) revenue the network makes.

User access, overlay interfaces aside, there is new, cheaper technology out there and hanging onto this cludgy site because of nostalgia is what I am saying has to change.
