The bailout was a failure. It should never have happened. Businesses who cannot run themselves should be allowed to fail.

nope ketsuko I dont want them doing it You do though You think Trump can .
me I know he wont any more then Biden will .
thing is until we have a way of dealing with the world without governments' what choice do we have ?

I am stuck in the same system and there is NO FIXING it .
all we can doi is manage a poorly designed system the best we can .
they use to say the US had the BEST of the WORST government every created .

that meant we did better then any other government with giving people as much control over it then any other one and at the same time failed to come even close to true freedom .

It is NO longer true But for a while we got as close as any to being free .

No, actually, socialism can't be done well, not in the long term anyway.

Of course people 'like it' until it fails, and then they become prisoners to it. But here's the thing; they don't just become prisoners to it, they become slaves to it. And, this is because there is no way out. Once you start down that path you embark on a downward death spiral which is inescapable.

It's a classic case of the 'grass being greener'. The horse will always push on the fence to try to eat the grass on the other side, but in this metaphor the fence exists for a reason, and this reason is danger. But the horse will never understand that the grass isn't greener, only that it must respect the fence. This is the paradox we face with today's youth. They will never understand, or even try to understand, the danger, they only see what they perceive as the greener grass on the other side. They see only the short term benefits, and are blind to the long range unsustainability of the system.

It's the classic argument between socialism (ultimately communism) and capitalism. In a reward system the person who works harder gets a bigger reward. In a socialist system everyone, in theory, works for the common good. However, the difference is, they have no incentive to work harder, only just hard enough (if that). If nobody ever aged, and the population never increased, this might work, but neither of these things happen in reality. It's like trying to teach a 16 year old they are not immortal, and that when they turn 50 they'll regret doing the things they do today. Again, much like socialism, what they do today is not sustainable tomorrow.

I’ve heard it said the socialist youngster becomes a capitalist when she gets her first paycheck. A true socialist would complain that the government has not taken enough out of that paycheck. Or perhaps better said, they would expect all their “earnings” to be government property and the nice big caretaker has given me a stipend.

The truth about Socialism

It is called "The Truth about Communism

Your misunderstanding of both of those words notwithstanding, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say a documentary narrated by Ronald Reagan isn’t going to tell you the truth about either.

Watch the documentary and then tell me why it is wrong. Don't make assumptions "out on a limb" and then try to dictate your opinion.

You have no idea what I know about either Socialism or Communism.

Угнетенные люди не могут оставаться угнетенными вечно. В конце концов проявляется тоска по свободе.

The definition of socialism is simply community ownership. Saying you have "indisputable proof" that it doesn't work and using people like Joseph Stalin to prove your point is as stupid as counter arguing that capitalism doesn't work because of say, George Bush.

Never said that. You are putting words in my mouth. The documentary is not just about Joseph Stalin. Watch the documentary and be educated....

Or not, continue in your ignorance and watch the world burn.

With so many other broken things in the government, singling out property taxes as the basis of your argument is foolish beyond words. There are so many other bigger 'fish to fry'!

Your post does, however, point out something I was saying in my previous post a few moments ago, and this is the shortsighted nature of some people's mindset. (no disrespect intended)

In order to be able to understand the proper form of government, one must be able to scale their understanding both upwards and downwards. One must be able to understand things like...in order to own a home in a sovereign state, one must also have a nation. And, in order to have a defined nation, one must be prepared to defend it, but this defense is not free, hence the need for things like taxes.

Now, we could argue all day long about this tax or that tax, and we would both agree that many of the taxes just feed the corruption of government, but to take issue with taxes in general as an example of why you are not free is, frankly, pretty silly at a fundamental level.

Thing is NO one forced you to buy what they make in teh 1970s most stuff was still made here so why did you switch from BUYING American to Buying made in china ?

IF you had keept buying American china would still be a 3rd world commie wanna be it was YOUR money MY money that gave them the power to do this .

Sorry....China has a stranglehold on America because our politicians (both Republican and Democrat) put us in upside down trade agreements that allowed imports of cheap goods due to slave labor from China, while ensuring American companies cannot compete because of labor union demands in manufacturing.

Then there's Amazon. Do a search for damn near ANYTHING on Amazon. It is ALL cheap, Chinese junk. It is next to IMPOSSIBLE to find anything of good quality or made in America on Amazon. There is quite a bit of data in how deep Bezos is with the Chinese if you take 5 minutes to look for it.

How about arguing and defending the Socialism you're referring to?

This thread is about communism, because OP doesn't understand the difference. I won't defend communism.

OP proves my analogy to be accurate.

This post is directed to the Millenial and Gen Z generation. The true history of Socialism and Communism has been hidden from you. The purpose of hiding this truth is to gaslight your acquiescence when a ruling class quietly takes away your liberty under the guise of "making life equitable or fair for all people." This is a lie. Don't blindly follow the Pied Piper.

I'm certain manyof you have access to Amazon Prime through your own account or through family. This documentary may also be available through other sources... I haven't had the chance to look. But for the sake of our country and your future, please take time to watch this documentary. It is narrated by Ronald Reagan.

It is called "The Truth about Communism and Only the Brave are Free." It is the 3rd episode in a documentary series called The Hidden Agenda.

www.amazon.com...=atv_dp_share_cu_r

The episode shows historical footage which provides the indisputable proof of the terrible subjugation and oppression of Communism and how it ended up there from Socialism.

My own personal experience was very different, my home country did socialism without the brutality or the suppression. In fact we had more rights and freedom on average than America did at the time because we didn't have segregation or Jim crow laws. Today people want more socialism, not less. They like it. We're a full democracy, and a free market that has higher food standards and consumer protection laws that the US, while is still dynamic and largely unburden by regulations.

TLDR socialism can be done well, and when it is people like it.

Vague statements. If your home country is such a beacon for freedom under socialism, name the country. Let's put it under the microscope and see the truth.

Funny, I didn't really read anything in the OP where the author was attempting to compare/contrast Socialism and Communism. She was stating her opinion that neither are effective. What led you to arrive at the conclusion that she misunderstands the two words?

I often read your posts waylaying other members about their supposed misunderstanding between the semantic distinctions between socialism and communism. What exactly are your qualifications on these subject matters? There are a number of people on this forum that have actually /lived/ in communist nations. I have had lengthy conversations with colleagues that have lived in the Ukraine, in China, in the Soviet Union.

I think you should enlighten ATS on these subjects on which you seem to frequently berate other members. I'm being serious, not trolling. I would be interested in reading what your thoughts are, and from where your subject matter expertise springs, on these sociopolitical concepts. Most importantly, rather than getting lost in word meanings, describe the value proposition of these political systems.

Why do you think they are good? Why do you think they are bad? Where have they worked? Where have they not worked?

I'm at least assuming you've read some books? Spoken with people that have spent significant time living in nations where these political models were put in practice? Dear God I hope it's stems from sources like that, and not a weekend ANTIFA workshop or something.
