I would admonish younger people my age and below to read the Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and see the reasons to resist the insidious draw of socialism and it's inevitable consequence, communism.

Joseph Stalin was one of the cool kids; poetic and righteous, with big ideas on how to make society finally perfect. It's always the same. On the road to "peace," which Marx defined as the "absence of opposition to socialism," is a whole lot of killing.

Whenever I see socialism mentioned, currently, it is usually in the Nordic model flavor.

Doesn't seem to be the same type being shown in that series. Then the no true scotsman fallacies start flying from opposite directions.

The Nordic Model isn't socialism. It is welfarism and that is a product of market economics, not socialist economics.

Good post It's truly sad how people young and older people have seamed to just stop caring about all things now days. I have a feeling the darkest days yet are coming fast upon us .

The definition of socialism is simply community ownership. Saying you have "indisputable proof" that it doesn't work and using people like Joseph Stalin to prove your point is as stupid as counter arguing that capitalism doesn't work because of say, George Bush.

and the Chinese entry into the WTO.

Along with the repeal of the Glass-Steagal Act
courtesy of the Clinton administration.

dont know im 55 social commie I do know a Good chunk of the US system is Social . Schools health police fire roads and so on and while it all has its problems there would be NON of that at all Without social .

That’s not going out on a limb, that’s you simply not engaging the material because it’s isn’t conducive to your own personal narrative.

That's a whitewashed statement.

Socialism is the seizure of the means of production. Who seizes the means of production? Well, "the people" do!

Which people? Well, that's the question isn't it?

Typically we think of the means of production to be factories and equipment. That's part of it. But remember that socialism is a relic of the industrial Revolution, and at the time the means of production was people.
