Saw on C-Span a month or so ago Clinton speaking at the University of Arkansas to students in his CLinton Presidency class. Just compare the country's atmnosphere during Clinton's 2 terms with how it is now is such a difference.Add thatnto the economy,interantional integrity,etc & Bush has simply ruined everything!

I've allways found it interesting that when Bush was appointed president his adminastration didn't think the US neeed such a large military, that a two war senerio was no longer feasable. Yet now they have changed their minds.

Under clinton the military was reduced and streamlined. Good thing cuz Bush wouldn't be able to do what he's doing with the old structure. Kinda like Carter. Reganites put carter down also but he was responsable for those cruise missels we now use with great effect.

Clinton was for new economy while Bush/Cheny were for the old economy. Once Bush was appointed, investors saw the writing on the wall an pulled out of the stock market (6 trillion $$$). No one has confindence in his economic wisdom. Although I wouln't put it past the republicans to short the market while it was going down the tubes, making millions in the process.

A Further comment on the Clinton scandals! Everytime I am forced to deal w/this bizarre period in our history I can't help but remember all of the folks at the time who said "What will we tell our children?(BTW.of the folks who said this on the televison back in 1998 & 1999,how many of them are now divorced-including some of the major players in the Republican party?Quite a large number I'd wager)

I don't know about you but I can tell you that it was a hell of alot easier to explain Clinotn's moral lapse(he didn't leave his wife I'll emind you)to children than the reason behind the war in Iraq.I was astonished at how many parents in my nephews 8 year old's class copped out & told their kids we were invading for some sort of good reason.

In a few years when they're old enough to read history books,I can't help but wonder what these kids are going to think about this astonishing lie told to them by their parents.

My nephew was 4 years old when the scandal broke.One afternoon,my brother told me he wanted to know what everyone was talking about involving the president.My brother told him that he wasn't faithful to his wife & that it was a terrible thing to do.However,it had NOTHING to do with the President's ability to be President,just like it has nothing to do w/anyone's else holding their job.

My nephew & I have since had many discussions about it(he knows I'm a Clinton lover & thank God my brother & his wife aren't as cruel as some parents who spread hateful lies)He is capable of understanding the truth & I suspect most children are capable of understanding it as well.In this world,sadly enough,children see this ort of thing around them all the time(he knows many kids from school who's parent's have divorced over the exact same thing Clinton has done & he looks up to the President for working out his problems with the Senator)

GOP blocking abolishment of Disabled Veterans Tax

WASHINGTON - Its formal title is The Retired Pay Restoration Act of 2003. Veterans say it is a long overdue measure to end what they have nicknamed The Disabled Veterans Tax. By either name it is a hot-button issue for 670,000 disabled American military veterans.

What the bill would do is redress a century-old injustice - a law that says anyone who retires after a full career of military service and draws retirement pay will have that pay reduced, dollar for dollar, for any payment received from the Veterans Administration for permanent service-connected disability.

In other words, if a military retiree is judged 100 percent disabled as a consequence of old war wounds or Agent Orange or bone damage from jumping out of airplanes, he would draw a maximum disability payment of $2,300 per month. His retired pay would disappear entirely, under the law.

Curiously, if a former soldier served only a two or four-year tour and was later judged disabled he would draw full disability payments with no reduction for any other payments he might receive from Social Security or a government or private retirement plan.

It is those who served honorably for at least 20 years and sometimes more than 30 years who are subject to the Disabled Veterans Tax.

The long-promised relief is hung up in Congress this summer and looks like it may well die in committee. It is estimated by the Congressional Budget Office that redressing the retirees' grievance would cost the Treasury between $3 billion and $5 billion a year, and the Bush administration has turned thumbs down because they see it as a budget-buster.

It is a cruel fate, given the fact that 82 percent of the members of the House and Senate, Republicans and Democrats alike, have signed as co-sponsors of the act and have voiced strong support for its passage.

The House bill boasts 345 named co-sponsors, 170 of them Republicans. But when Rep. Jim Marshall, D-Ga., whose district includes the Columbus-Fort Benning area with thousands of military retirees, initiated a Discharge Petition to bring the bill to the House floor for a vote, only one of the 170 Republican co-sponsors was willing to sign the petition.

The other 169 Republicans are missing in action, and the veterans say they know why. "Republican representatives are being forced to represent the White House," complains retired Air Force Lt. Col. B.E. Cushing, a Florida resident. He adds that the word is that the Republican leadership is "urging and even threatening" members to keep them from signing the Discharge Petition.

For a century the cost has kept Congress from doing what it knows is the right thing, separating military retiree pensions from the disability payments that grow directly out of dangerous service to the nation.

Clinton was Impeached because of other certain crimes, that were not Impeachable (such as the sale of ICBM technology to China under the principle that China would use it to launch Satellites, and the sale of Uranium to N. Clinton was Impeached on his only Impeachable act, being immoral while in office. Getting a blow job and thus commiting adultery, is immoral.

Such as selling ICBM technology to China, and the continued selling of Uranium to N. Korea, even when told that they were making Nuclear materials with it, not power...which they have done so now.

These are not impeachable offenses, but Congress and others WANTED to impeach him.
