Treat others how you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes.

I treat women differently than I do men, because I'm a gentleman and was raised properly.

Jumpin' back in...

I think by virtue of all being "human"- no exception...we should treat and and approach people on their level.

You can only seek to find common ground: ergo...the differences require different approaches.

We aren't all "one" yet...waiting (*crickets)

How can you approach everyone on "their level".
Is it possible?

Have you ever watched an adult who is exceptionally good with kids? They manage just fine.

We have to try. One blood. Red. And then we find common ground.

But then...we have wars...

What if you were raised poorly?
Would that be your fault?

???

So poor people treat women differently?

I was poor, grew up poor, was taught to treat women with respect.

It has nothing to do with money.

I was talking about lack of child rearing skills.
Not money.

My fault, I should have clarified.

Edit to add...
I should have said raised badly.

Like others have pointed out, your questions is waaaaaaay too vague. What exactly does 'different' mean? Exactly which characteristics are you referring to?

Curly hair is different from straight hair.
Left handed is different than right handed.
Foot sizes are different.
Intelligent levels are different
Physical shapes and sizes are different
Skin color is different
Education levels are different
Ideologies are different
Religious views are different
Political views are different

And what does "treated differently" mean?

Treated better?
Treated worse?
Treated differently????????????

Each should be treated as needed. I expect less from the mentally disabled, for example

Yes, but do you just assume they will always give you a certain level?

Going back to my example with the stairs, I realized that some of the people who have lost both legs go above and beyond to prove they don't have to be catered to or thought less of. They're the ones running as double amputees in high level sports.

Do they need to be thought of differently than pretty much anyone else when it comes to those stairs?

Similarly, some with mental disability are also going to likewise be determined not to let that stop them and will surprise you with what they will be able to do.

So how different is different when we talk about different? Different expectations or actual different treatment?

Like women? Yes. Start with driving and voting.

Not at all.
Women aren't people.

My God!
What has been making my sandwiches?

So if you let someone else's behavior be your guide, are you actually treating them all that differently than you treat others? Because you're letting someone's behavior be your guide.

Exactly

My grandfather used to say, "to each what they need."
