Yep! The Senate has always had the real power in our Government. The House is full of petulant children who cannot get out of their own way. The Senate is where the actual adults reside. They have all the power. Keeping the Senate is almost as important as keeping the Presidency.

Considering the fate of McCain and such, cutting a deal to approve SC justice for a less embarrassing role in the public eye... SC vote was the one bit of leverage he had left. Vote to confirm to spare his life on treason charges?

I had never heard of that Brasillach fellow. He was no innocent, when France fell, he (as a Frenchman) became a very active collaborator with the Nazis. To the extent of calling, in writing, for the executions of members of the French Resistance.

Captured by De Gaulle's forces in September 1944, he was tried for "intellectual crimes" tantamount to treason in January 1945 and executed by firing squad.

So, apparently in Gilman's deformed psyche, the USA is somehow under foreign occupation and the person who exposed the 'color revolution' theme is deserving of execution for the crime of treason to the Deep State. Or something like that.

TDS: definitely not harmless.

ETA: Worthy of note, the Germans made no effort to get Brasillach away from the Allied forces. Brasillach (like many of the coup plotters today) was simply a useful idiot, and when Patton's Third Army closed on Paris, the Germans made haste for their own country, caring not for what happened to people like Brasillach. More lessons in that story than the TDS clique probably wants to consider.
