As for this kids mother: Can she be charged with the US equivalent of manslaughter through gross negligence?

Questioned against there will maybe.
That's called lawyering up, something Trump knows all about.
Do you imagine if it was court-appointed attorneys that represented them instead, they would be on the street so soon if at all?
Republic indeed of the Banana sorts or so it seems these days.
Anyhoo it will all sort itself out soon enough, coz Trumps going down, and it's not on Melania.

I'm a parent too, I spend so much time explaining to my son the need to deescalate, the need to turn the other cheek, to not react.
Even in such simple things as being teased, him reacting results in more teasing. All he has to do is ignore the antagoniser and they will get bored, you know something it's working and his school life has improved dramatically.
If this kids mother did drive him over state lines for this she should be held responsible in some way.

I am VERY curious to see if the felon with a pistol that got arm shot gets arrested and prosecuted for carrying a pistol with a record and assaulting the kid.

Leaving aside the actual legal defences available to the shooter, I have a big doubt about the politics.
Those in charge will know that if he walks, their streets will be full of antifa types looking to smash everything up.
I really doubt anything can get him off when he has the legislators and the media dead against him.
It'll be a stitch up.

i believe regardless of the result of the kid's court appearance, he will be a target for violence.
