Hes pushing the #1 point on tests is because until today hes been accused of being behind other nations.

Trump likes rubbing his justified stances in their faces.

4 years, you'd think people would get used to it

You have to remember who you're dealing with.

Liberalism is mostly appealing to naive, sheltered people who have no idea the way the real world works.

Of course they haven't been able to adapt. They're screwed until Big Daddy Government is back under the control of the people they admire and starts taking care of them again.

PLEASE don't let facts get in the way of your emotions.

The press and the left refuse to acknowledge that China is the source of this entire fiasco.

Never mind that a useless pandemic model employed by the CDC resulted in wildly inflated casualty projections.

Trump trusted his so-called medical advisors and crashed the economy to save lives based on data he believed to be accurate.

He wants to reopen the economy because we all know now that the shutdown was unnecessary because the numbers from the "doctors" were whacked.

TIMELINE

- Mid-October 2019: Wuhan locked down. Confirmed by cell tower records from that area.
- January 21, 2020: China talks to WHO and asks WHO not to publicize the outbreak.
- March 3, 2020: Trump shuts down flights from China.
- March 11, 2020: WHO declares pandemic.
- March 20 ,2020: Trump closes borders.

Again, to repeat the reporter's question. Why is this a competition? Why is Trump all about bragging about how the USA is "leading the world in testing"?

That's what this thread is about, not skewing statistics to support your argument de jour.

Hilarious you call it "skewing statistics" to use a per capita metric, which is much more important and meaningful.
We all know you understand why the per capita metric is better. You're just so dedicated to fighting Trump you're willing to make yourself look stupid by pretending you don't understand that. That's pathetic. It's like a cult mentality. You'll fall on your sword to try to help your Dem heroes. God knows they need it.

Again, this thread isn't about statistics, or about making statistics a competition. The question that the reporter asked Trump, that he couldn't answer, was "Why are you making this a competition?"

But, the sad irony is the only thing the US is leading in is overall Covid 19 deaths. I just heard testimony during the congressional hearing this morning that the US has 45 times more deaths per cap than South Korea. How's that for a winning statistic!

Yep, because asking why Trump keeps making this pandemic some kind of global competition is just like being accused of beating your wife!

Both questions are based on false narratives... the question to Trump was based on an assumption that Trump wants to do nothing to prevent deaths, while the one about wife beating is based on the assumption that wife beating has occurred. Both are "gotcha" questions that cannot be answered without out falsely implicating oneself in a lie framed by the question.

Apparently face23785 was quite correct in his assessment. *sigh*

We should be #1 in testing. We sure are #1 is CV deaths! What are we not?

Then why are you defending those who would make being number 1 in testing a bad thing?

We may be number 1 in deaths attributed to WuFlu... I am not yet convinced we are number 1 in deaths caused by WuFlu. Based on reports I have personally seen, I have trouble maintaining confidence in the numbers used for that conclusion.

"Why are you making this a competition?" is only a gottch question because Trump walked right into it by standing in front of flanking posters bragging about how the USA is leading in testing.

Based on our death rate, our testing rates are nothing to be celebrated.

People seem to forget that a large number of these deaths are in nursing homes.

And what did Cuomo do? Ordered nursing homes to take Covid patients. Can you say murder?

The economy could have remained open if the CDC had been ignored. Their numbers were wildly inflated.

We should open now. We should distance and wear masks.

Beyond that we should use herd immunity to beat this.

"This thread isn't about statistics!"

-proceeds to tout a stat that is politically beneficial to him-

You're such a hypocrite it's unreal.

And again, Trump did not make it a competition. People like you did that. The entire premise of the OP is a lie, and you're lying, and everyone knows it.

Keep it up, trying to exploit all these dead people.
Disgusting.

Wrong. It was a gotcha question because the media made it a competition. Almost every press conference they were asking him why we weren't #1 in testing.

Of course, you know that. You were just told to pretend that's not the case and push your partisan talking points, facts be damned.

Yet you again cite a statistic. Which is it, use stats or not? You can't have it both ways.

Your argument about this whole topic is faulty because of your political bias. Do you enjoy being wrong because your arguments are almost always without logic and facts. I would be embarrassed for myself if I did that.

"Why are you making this a competition?" is only a gottch question because Trump walked right into it by standing in front of flanking posters bragging about how the USA is leading in testing.

And he did so because for weeks now he has been hammered by reporters who seem to think that tests grow on trees. They don't. A test for a specific virus has to be developed once enough is known about the virus. That takes time. Then it has to be tested to ensure it detects the virus correctly and does not give too many false positives. That takes time. Then it has to be mass-produced. That takes time. Then the tests have to be shipped to where they are needed. That takes time.

In the meantime, reporters are continually hounding him about "Where are the tests? We need more tests! Why are you delaying the tests?"

There are 330,000,000 people in the USA. As of now, it appears we have successfully tested about 1% of the country. That's still over 3 million tests. And, thanks to the panic induced by the media purposely for political points, even that 1% population testing means nothing... it was not randomized, so it cannot tell us what percentage is really infected. All it tell us is the percentage of people who show symptoms worthy of concern are likely infected.

Had anyone in the White House suggested randomized testing, the cry would have been "Why are you denying tests to those who need them the most?"

All you are doing is the same thing you have done since before this virus was ever detected: nothing. We have industries re-tooling to produce PPE, we have armies of researchers trying to improve testing, we have charities setting up makeshift hospitals to deal with potential outbreaks, we have medical workers scrambling to treat patients, we have millions of people who are approaching or have already reached poverty level to to try and slow the spread of the virus, and we have Sookiechacha griping on an Internet forum about the guy she hates not answering a "gotcha" question so she can accuse him of things he never did.

[sarcasm]
Gee, thanks for all the help!
[/sarcasm]

That side is so spoiled and sheltered, they're not used to being held to their own standards. The days of them being able to just lie and have the media back them up are over, and they are so intellectually lazy they haven't been able to adapt to the times. They're using last decade's playbook and it's a disaster for them.

Keep in mind, these people think they're the "smart" party.

I wouldn't say they've done nothing. They've been working overtime to try to exploit the deaths for political gain. That is their only concern. Once you look at their actions through that lense, they make perfect sense. It's the only explanation that explains their actions since this started.

Statistics can be twisted around to prove any point you like.

Trump was caught off guard, while trying to brag about [skewed] winning statistics, by a reporter asking why he was "making this a competition?" Flustered, he lashed out, blamed China and abruptly left the presser.

I believe that's what this thread is about. But yous guys, you all keep making this about winning statistics. Yeah, we're winning...we have the most deaths of any country! That's the sick irony.
