You sure about that? Quick check and heart disease kills on average 1800 a day. Covid is over 2000 a day right now and it would probably be a lot higher if not for measures that have been taken. reply to: carewemust

Except pretty much all those 1800 deaths from heart disease are now being counted as due to COVID, so 2400-1800 =

Meh FYI folks take it from me being a buisness man in an essential service, the economy, is bad............... very very bad..

Yeah, that's kind of what happens when an insane policy like 'shutting down the economy' is implemented.

Massive disabling of Americans.
Dependent Americans can easily be frightened and manipulated.

Taiwan beat it with a pandemic response team and a quick organized central plan and response

Trump gambled on a denial strategy combined with the miraculous April heat.

When history examines this event the US will be held up as such a complete and utter failure it will be the literal textbook on what not to do

Turns out listening to media personalities that blow sunshine up your rear end is not wise in dealing with a pandemic

Hard to imagine trump supporters still hanging in there with this guy. It wasn’t until a memo was circulated around the White House pointing out that trumps strategy of denial was putting his own base at the highest risk that he changed his demeanor.

How could we screw this up this bad. Instead of making America great, the powers that be have made us into weaklings. We had advance notice but somehow we are handling it worse then Italy and other European countries. Why is South Korea so much better then us at handling this? They have 229 deaths in a country of 51 million. If we want to get in control of this why not just copy the South Korean model. There are no excuses for this colossal failure and while there is plenty of blame to go around the fact is our president is the biggest failure in this country right now and he needs to get out of office before he ends up letting more people die. If not, he needs his feet to the fire to actually implement a system that works meaning step aside and let the experts make the decisions.
I have my theories on why South Korea and other Asian nations are doing so much better, but why do you think Italy is handling it better than the USA?

Italy, Spain, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Sweden all have much higher death rates per million people than America, which has lost an average of 118 per million so far.

We’re on par with Ireland and Luxembourg. Germany and Denmark have half our rate of death. Austria’s is 40 percent. Canada’s about a third. Norway about a fourth. Finland has a death rate only 3 percent of ours. Australia and New Zealand have rates as low or lower than the First World East Asian nations: Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. All of them have death rates of 5 to .3 per million people.

The cost of the economic consequences are very quickly going eclipse the death toll of the virus. The world is using duck and cover straight out those nuclear warning videos from way back.

The whole flatten the curve strategy is "we have no idea what else to do" ... I am not saying it was a complete mistake, but it can not go on much longer.

As stated in the thread this is going to destroy small business. Small business may not be able to recover. I don't want to live in a world where all restaurants are taco bell, we have to figure out a way to get people work as soon as possible.

Also I really want to note that Trump has used the power of the federal government to empower the states. He did not sieze more power.

What should he have done declared martial law? Federal government steps in and assumes control?

He was impeached at the beginning of this. He is being forced to waste time defending every action. The reality is there is no right answer. Every option will have hindsight thrown at it so hard it shatters.

Virginia Gov. Northam: Trump Admin "Delusional" To Claim U.S. Has Enough Coronavirus Testing Capacity

thehill.com...
Here is the link. As of yet, it's not on YouTube

A GOP governor just can't bring himself to support Trump's lying so he says outright He's delusional.

This is one reason we're in the horrible shape were in, Donald Trump is President.

Governors from his own party who have citizens in jeopardy can not support him anymore.

Where I work there's, if anything, an uptick. Backlog on on-line orders are at record, and beyond, levels for this time of year. Something on the order of 35 to 40 percent.

Huge orders, and short staff. Lots of overtime!!! 50-60 hour weeks for the foreseeable future...

My bank account, and house buying plans, are loving it!!

Northam is a Democrat, but perhaps I misunderstand your meaning. At any rate, the number of tests done per million keeps climbing steadily. I’ve been keeping track of it. It’s currently 11,666 tests done per million Americans, which is double what it was not long ago.

The latest "get out of jail free-card" by the Cult45 apologists, when faced with the numbers of deaths, is: "nah the numbers are fudged."

Yup. An answer for everything. Cognitive dissonance ftw - as long as we don't have to consider the notion that the Dear Leader may be imperfect!!

Funny.. I work as a consultant to many of the largest companies in the world. Other than companies that are in retail food.. all are massively impacted. Even the ones in food are having issues as their demand shifts from commercial to retail.

Dont get me wrong, there is a lot shut down in canada, lots of retail installations. But most production and construction is still booming, even some are doing more business now than before the shutdown. I know the business I'm in right now, has seen the best numbers, the last two months, that we've seen in almost three years. Now in my case, a lumber yard, it's because people now have the time do the projects they've put off over the years. But this can't be the only sector to see such an influx. I honestly feel for anyone sitting on a bubble unsure what is going to happen from one day to the next, not easiest thing to deal with at the best of time, uncertainty that is.

Delusional is believing that you need the testing capacity to test everyone in the country, or even in your state.

Testing is meaningless. It is a bean counter thing. It doesn't do anything to solve the problem.

The only thing that helps to resolve the problem is providing info that people can use to boost their immune systems. And they aren't doing that.

Why are they not doing that? Why has fascist Fauci not mentioned Vitamins A, C, D, and E one single time? Or Zinc, magnesium, or selenium?

He and the rest of his ilk are guilty of crimes against humanity, and deserve to be tried, convicted, and hung on the public square.

Unbelievable ignorance here. Testing does not do nothing. it does everything. If everyone can get a monthly test, this would be gone in a few months. Instead we continue digging our graves with this Trump virus and this Trump depression. The US has had one of the WORST if not the worst response to this pandemic of any country in the world. Look around the world and you see countries getting on top of it. Trump and co created 90% or more of this problem and it will only get worse with him in office. To those who think Biden would not do a better job. To hell he wouldn't. I don't even like Biden but there is no question to anyone with a half sane mind that he would handle this better. It's all failure for this president and administration. Unless you are a millionaire you gain nothing from this and his ignorant supporters are just helping to cause this pandemic and depression. I have a family to feed and and am not a millionaire. I have a small business that is affected by this. So please stop with the ignorance, stop supporting this president and his manufactured depression and maybe we can move towards a better, freer future. reply to: tanstaafl

Agreed...

Proof?

So, I get my monthly test, NO CV! Yay! Walk outside, past someone infected, now I'm infected... don't know it... spread it to you...

Snipped out the rest of your sad, delusional, hilarious TDS ranting...

You're in for a rough ride amigo. I wonder... after Trump finishes his second term, and Don Jr starts his first term, I wonder if your head will just explode, or melt into a puddle of quivering protoplasm...

While testing everyone isn't required, testing of a good cross-section of America would provide a lot of very useful data. Like a good estimation of the actual infection rate.

Now, it does depend quite a lot on the kind of test we're talking about. If we use the usual RNA test all we get is those currently infected, IF we use the antibody test, we find out how many have been infected, and either have recovered, or had little to no symptoms.

As of yesterday (5/2/2020) the US has tested just over 2% of the population. The problem with this testing, and I think it would 'fit' into your 'delusional' characterization, is that they are only using the RNA test, which doesn't give a complete picture. Although, at 2%, that is good enough for a political poll
I would like more data.

However, the data shows that the vast majority of people tested DID NOT have Covid-19...it is currently running about 85% negative, and 15% positive.

So, testing is far from meaningless, through proper testing we can get a better idea of the extent, and consequences of this virus...and it will be ONLY through testing that we can obtain this necessary data.

So... There's people out there that still think all these rich millionaires in the government are not lying to us? And hospitals aren't padding their covid stats, milking as much as they can from the government before the end?

WOW!!!! O_O
