I've paid my taxes since I was 15.

Yeah? So? What does this have to do with income taxes? You got a refund if you overpaid them.

And there is no "free" money, the money comes from the taxes working people pay.

Wrong. This will come from selling ourselves more Treasury Bonds that EVERYONE will have to pay for including the people who won't get a check, not just the mooches with their hands out.

And yah, he is right to not give wealthy people money, this is for people who will be HURTING due to no fault of their own.

That's called socialism. Funny how you like it when it's your guy doing it.

One time support during a pandemic world emergency is "socialism". Wow, you're smart.

You really can't tell the difference between immediate govt assistance versus handing the govt complete control of your healthcare and paying a boatload in taxes to support everyone else?

he just likes to argue and make jokes at inappropriate times.

CNN has a memo from treasury that says that..
Income and family size..

Tough call, I'm for a set amount... I might make more, but then my cost of living is inline with my income so it is more too. As example someone might need help making 1500 bucks rent, and I might need help making 5000 mortgage. I don't know the answer here but ending up on the streets would be the same.

So retired people or people whos income is drawn from a 401 wont get anything.
Unless they consider pensions and SS as income. I guess... ? Dont know about stock income or 401 income.

I think they should receive the stimulus as well.

I don't get refunds i PAY yet now you claim I somehow don't pay

Where did I say you 'don't pay'? Federal income tax is not a slush fund for mooch money. You paid it and that's that.

I will take my check should I get one and will not feel guilty for it either.

If you want to be a good little socialist that's your prerogative.

You might want to work on your reading comprehension.

You do the same since you're accusing me of saying things I didn't. Where you're done with that take a basic economics course too.

Anyone still on those platforms are free to do so. I have left social media completely and so have my kids so I don't even see most celebrity stupidity.

Yah, when I file taxes, if I haven't paid enough based on my income, then I PAY taxes, and do not get a refund.

I would think even you would understand that much.

They should at least pay the taxes then. You are very nice to allow them to stay even if they cant pay you.
I would not advertise that to them however. I'd let it come into play if necessary. Thats just me.
And you could tell them that the rent is reduced to whatever the tax amount is that way you dont end up behind to your city and still come out the hero.
Anyway bless you.
My house is paid for but I still have to pay insurance and taxes four times a year.

Thank you, I know, but I don't you need you to tell me. Anyone who understands where the money comes from and who it goes to will recognize this as a socialistic handout.

'Government assistance' is socialism.

Funny how all the 'conservatives' are for socialism when it's good for them.

Seems you aren't understanding much of anything, including what socialism actually is.

LOL, you are right about not advertising it!!!! I wont do that, if they can pay, then I will take it!

But I also will share what I have with anyone I can.

These are extraordinary times. Not a time for this foolishness about "socialism" etc...

Besides what will you have if you evict them.. an unoccupied house as well as no rent payment? If every one evicts the tenants that cant come up with the rent money there ain't no telling how long it will stay empty. Probably till some squatters come along and try to call it home.

Yep, 100% agree. We all need to sacrifice and hunker down and work together and help one another at this time....

A means test will make disbursement a month-long (or more) process just to figure out the line (that's your tax dollars at work folks -- Congress) No means test means ASAP (which is still a few weeks unless they can reverse 911 the checks).

I usually come here for all the good info from this site!

Clearly, if you are receiving "income" from your retirement funds, which have been affected negatively by stock market tanking then you should surely be getting your stimulus check. I think you will!

Even crazier -- why would you think "taking care of everyone" = socialism. Words used to have actual meanings before the government and their media revolving door decided to use them in a propaganda war against our own citizens.

Socialism = the workers control the means of production (and no one is calling for that).

Everything else is verbal masturbation.
