Trinity Catholic College in Middlesbrough became the second school in England to close completely due to precautions over Covid-19.

At Brine Leas School in Nantwich, Cheshire, sixth formers recently returned from a trip to northern Italy and the Sixth Form College has been closed while the rest of the school remains open.

A bit of a bombshell, they have stated that they KNOW he was infected back in Italy, but "we cannot discuss how exactly publicly."

Let's remember that this Italian patient is a medic back home.

That's outdated, we're already at 5.

1st case: German tourist who got it in Germany and traveled to La Gomera. RECOVERED.
2nd case: in Mallorca, another tourist. RECOVERED.
3rd and 4th case: Italian tourists, a couple. One of them is a medic and got it back in Italy under "circumstances not for public discussion."
5th case: somebody in Barcelona, I think he's another tourist.

Update from Chile:

From Link in spanish - Would put the link in english but the page has an ad that can't be removed and is covering the news. Sorry, a summary of what he said:

The Health Minister has declared that they are following 260 people in Chile because they arrived from a zone where the virus has been detected. Those 260 people are currently under home quarantine. (note: he means travelers that arrived to Chile from countries that have positive cases).

He claims that if the virus can't be controlled internationally and the new cases do not decline before our winter, we will have a very complicated situation.

He also said a lot of what we are saying, that the virus is aggressive, there is trouble with setting the incubation time.

He also claimed that it is a pandemic, even though the W.H.O. hasn't declared it as such. That it complies with all the criteria to name it as such.

As a reminder, Chile already is in a "Health Alert" status, and authorities have said as far as the beginning of February that "It is not matter of IF, it is a matter of WHEN it will arrive".

This is my post about what the authorities can do and how they will act: Post

Perhaps it was my own sensitivity and lack of reading comprehension. It was the way it came across to me, at the time.
Nevertheless, many thanks for backing me up, especially in the interests of representing the best in our city, but also letting folks know what to watch out for. Thanks for backing me up.

The German tourist in La Gomera was discovered and started quarantine back in January 28th, the guy in Mallorca followed short after. Those two did the time and were discharged once there were no traces of the virus in the tests done with the test kits.

The three current and new cases are the two Italians in Tenerife and the tourist in Barcelona.

WHO also claims travel disruptions and economic impact are taken into consideration and, at the present time, I don't see how anyone can argue the Coronavirus hasn't had a significantly negative impact on both of those factors. Coronavirus isn't just impacting the numbers who have been infected, it's hitting the entire world where travel and economics are concerned and that's a LARGE number affected.

I guess what I'm really saying is screw WHO. I don't understand humanity's incessant need to have some level of authority figure tell them how they should be viewing events impacting their own lives. If the Coronavirus doesn't scare you, fine... if the Coronavirus scares you, also fine. Your emotions on events that impact your life are your own and the rest of this is semantical bullsnip at best.

A recent article in The Lancet:

Results: 8 studies were included in Meta-analysis, including a total of 5732 patients with 2019-nCoV infection.According to Meta-analysis, among the clinical characteristics of patients with 2019-nCoV infection, the incidence of fever is 90.9%, the incidence of cough is 70.8%, and the incidence of muscle soreness or fatigue is 41%. The incidence of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) was 14.8%, the incidence of abnormal chest CT was 95.6%, the proportion of severe cases in all infected cases was 24.3%, and the mortality rate of patients with 2019-nCoV infection was 6.4%.

Clinical Characteristics of 5732 Patients with 2019-nCoV Infection

Nearly a quarter of all cases in the meta-analysis above were listed as severe and this is one of the highest fatality rates I've seen in such a published paper.

I'm talking about the Spanish cases, not the German ones. He said there were 4 when there are 5.

Let's hope that 6.4% fatality rate is an outlier, not the norm. So far we are seeing around 2.5 to 3%, I think.

Austria places Innsbruck hotel under lockdown over coronavirus

Austria on Tuesday placed a hotel in the Alpine city of Innsbruck under lockdown after an Italian receptionist working there contracted the virus.
"No one can get in and out of the hotel to make sure that if other infected people are staying in the hotel, the virus won't be spread," Interior Minister Karl Nehammer told a press conference.

"All these measures have one purpose -- to stop the virus and its spread. There is no reason to panic," he said, adding that Austria was prepared for such a case.

He did not say how long the isolation would last or identify the hotel, but Austrian media have named it as the 108-room Grand Hotel Europa in the centre of Innsbruck, a tourist hub and push-off point for major Alpine skiing competitions in the surrounding mountains.

The woman's home in Innsbruck -- the capital of Tyrol state bordering Italy -- was also being isolated, a state government spokeswoman said.

The couple have both been quarantined in a hospital in Innsbruck where they tested positive for the new coronavirus, marking Austria's first cases after an outbreak in northern Italy.

The woman and her partner, both 24 and from coronavirus-hit Lombardy region in Italy, travelled to Innsbruck by car last week.

OK, I'll bite now... Closes at 26,605

I obviously missed the hidden technical support level at 27,000. I wonder if etrading hit a marker somewhere near that point in the final 2 hours of closing that signaled a buy. Something caused a sizeable bump as the market was about to break through the 27,000 point with about 2 and a half hours to go, then bounced off the same general level again about a half hour prior to closing.
