I use my phone so can't post link. I haven't seen this posted and don't know how reliable the source. GNews reports that flu cases in China increased over one million cases in December 2019 compared to December 2018.

From what I had been reading, initially many cases of Covid-19 were diagnosed simply as the flu

I 100% utterly agree with you. So worried for China..they're living in an apocalyptic nightmare movie!

Yes, it may not come through in my posts, but my primary worry/concern is for the chinese people, and what may be happening there for the regular people, and how the CCP's response is likely to cause a lot of pain and suffering for them.

It is absolutely a nightmare for them. I cannot imagine...

That's the kind of response that's actually required to stop the spread of a virus like this. People are too dumb to prepare and stay home.

Reminder: As of today (Feb 23), the US remains extremely limited in #COVID19 testing. Only 3 of ~100 public health labs have @CDC
test kits working and CDC is not sharing what went wrong with the kits. How to know if COVID19 is spreading here if we are not looking for it. 1/7

China is performing an average of 6,000+ tests per day.

Meanwhile, US is struggling to perform an average of just 17 tests per day (total of 414 test fomr Jan 29 through Feb 21; cdc.gov...
).

"The situation may be over whelming, and disruptions to everyday life may be severe"

This is something the CDC said publicly.. 😱

We need the UK to do something serious now

Can you tell me if this is worldwide, UK, US, or anywhere specific.

I am at work and I am having a hard time looking anything up quickly.

That’s disturbing to read, is there a transcript or link?

I couldn't listen in as at swimming lessons, but following on Twitter..I'm assuming as it was the U.S CDC that they were talking about in America. Once we have the transcript we will know more. But it certainly sounds like a very big deal in terms of what theyve said today and what they were saying 1 week ago.

Someone has said they may have said 'may feel' rather than 'may be'.. waiting for transcript to confirm (I'm only getting this from the BNO comments on twitter)

Thank you for the info.

What concerns me isms the fact that we had the senate hearing today and a CDC update all in the span of a few hours.

I work about 60 miles from home and need to know when to bug out, just to be on the safe side. I'm not panicking but, I like to stay a little ahead of the game. I am actually thinking about leaving at noon until if I do not find out more info.

It sounds like there maybe some info that we dont know about and they are trying to avoid a panic. But that is only me speculating.

I am sure that we will have the usual in here telling us that it's no big deal any minute now.

The comments on that link I posted (the live comments) are a whole new level of weird. One would almost think they want it to all fly by as fast as possible and fill it with inane nonsense.

CDC warns Americans to prepare for disruption

Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the Center for the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said Tuesday that Americans should talk to their children’s schools about contingency education and childcare plans and tele-working options at work if community spread is reported in the U.S. When asked by a reporter on a conference call if her tone had changed compared to previous calls, Messonnier said: “The data over the last week and the spread in other countries has certainly raised our level of concern and our level of expectation that we are going to have community spread here ... That’s why we are asking folks in every sector and in their families to plan for this.”

“We really want to prepare the American public for the possibility that their lives will be disrupted because of this pandemic,” Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters.
