On the Canadian front (forgive me if any of this has been posted already... I wake up to pages of updates):
The tone continues to become more serious.
Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer said yesterday:
“The window of opportunity for containment – for stopping the global spread of the virus – is closing," Dr. Tam warned. “It also tells countries like Canada, who have been able to detect and manage imported cases thus far, that we have to prepare across governments, across communities and as families and individuals, in the event of more widespread transmission in our community.”
www.theglobeandmail.com...
Canada developed a pandemic response plan in 2009, which would serve as the foundation for any shift in the official response to the current outbreak, she said.
Canada’s Pandemic Plan
I note the message about preparing as families and individuals.
This morning, the Ottawa Citizen has a headline of:
Canadians being told to prepare for a possible novel coronavirus pandemic
The message includes stocking up on medicine, supplies to get through a week of sickness, etc.
The busy downtown Toronto is business as usual. The odd mask being worn and pharmacies having alcohol, wipes and gloves front and centre in aisle displays but that’s about it.
We have 11 confirmed positive in Canada. 3 recovered. A number of folks quarantined in Trenton (grim the original flight home from China) are expected to be released today.
A few US Senators reactions to briefing on coronavirus today:
GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy said that at the end of today's briefing, the officials present actually said “it didn’t need to be” classified. Sen. Roy Blunt, a Republican, echoed that and said the senators didn’t hear anything “top secret.”
A key question, Democrat Whip Durbin said, is “whether or not [countries] will be aggressive in quarantine in cases and reduce the spread beyond their borders. We still have to wait to see.”
GOP Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana said “panicking about this does not make sense”

The man in the article thought he had flu, but with everything going on, thought he should get it confirmed as flu to be safe and responsible. Insurance has been billed $3,270. ONLY $1400 for him.

I think China and Iran hid it until they couldn't. By then, it had blown up all out of proportion.ø

CDC refuses to test patients unless they have traveled to China or were in contact with a confirmed case! Only 400-something individuals have been tested in the US.
Absolute insanity!

Just can’t stop myself wondering why China has responded so vigorously to something less potent than flu, and why they’ve lied so thoroughly about the death toll. Weird.

I have been really thinking about this entire situation and a couple of things jump out at me.
Hotels placing guests in lockdown/quarantine while awaiting testing for coronavirus.
Where have we seen this before?
Diamond Princess. That did not turn out very well and actually increased the number of infected.
I am worried about this trend. Hotel staff are Not Trained, just like the crew on the Diamond Princess, and mistakes, big ones are going to be made.
There is no competent leadership at the hotels to deal with this type of crisis. How are they going to treat all of the bedsheets, blankets, towels, curtains, dishes, cutlery, trays, trash ect.
We have seen how in China they had deployed crews to disinfect the streets and even the trash.
I doubt these hotels will be doing the same level of containment.
What about the staff that work there? Are they being quarantined as well. It is probably too late since the housekeeping staff, chefs, wait staff, janitorial staff, gardeners, van drivers, ect all come from the surrounding community. They either will be infected directly or indirectly.
Containment...LOL.

What if there is no such thing as a C? What if the US Deep Gov / PTB deliberately dropped a strain in China and one in Iran and one in Italy. But they would never do that would they!!!

Is it coincidental that Trump is in India at a time American businesses are reconsidering their economic dependency on Chinese production?

So they should test every nutcase that comes in with a sneeze? How costly and time consuming would that be?

But, again... you are looking at this backwards.
Our first and foremost goal should be to get real, actual, trustworthy numbers on the numbers of people who, having the virus, actually get symptoms, and of those, develop serious symptoms, and of those, develop serious enough symptoms to require hospitalization for treatment, and of those, how many die."
Great idea, you'd better get started. How many do you think you could get round in day, door to door around the world? You've got 7 billion people to test, but don't worry, that numbers going down every day.

Whelp...my daughter's 8th grade class returned from Washington DC last week.(we are in Michigan) My daughter didn't go but a lot of her friends and classmates did...she came home from school yesterday and fell asleep on her bedroom floor.
She hates sleeping with a passion.
Now she is running a fever out of nowhere.
Called school they have started asking what the symptoms are. Usually it's just "ok hope she feels better.'
I asked the school if anything was going around - she said they do have some students out with just a fever others are complaining of head/stomach issues.
Strep and the flu already been through the area in November. I'm lucky in the fact we are the family that 'doesn't get' the flu but, strep is another matter. My kids always seem to get it right now she doesn't have a sore throat though. Either way virus time in my house.
Because its more potent than flu!! The question is, what is it? If it is killing hundreds of thousands and continues to do so then its a bio-weapon. Where its come from or if its home engineered is another question. It got out either by accident from the Wufon lab or its been dropped nearby and also in Korea and Iran. The ConV could have been released to muddy the waters and to cover up whats really got out.

Yeah, and the only explanation (that makes real sense) is, what is happening in China is not CV, it is something else entirely, and they are covering it up with the CV. That, or there really will be additional waves that are devastating (hopefully not).
