The impact to the economy is going to be hell, unknown territory...eliminate debt now and maybe get bees and start making honey.

Strap yourself in that's for sure.

Forget eliminating debt... Let them come to my "infected" house and get it. If things start to look worse, I am spending my funds on another 6 months worth of food and supplies. I have 5 months worth now. I would like to be able to have my family hold out for a year if needed.

...China called for global help on December 31 very strange action for them. China quarantined 40 million people and neutered their entire economy when less than 500 cases had even been identified. Further bizarre behavior. Finally, China reported that 20 of their earliest known cases were the hospital workers caring for Patient Zero. That's enough red flags,...

On this much we agree. It is odd.

Okay, so let's take it to the extremes...(extreme doom-porn warning)...China was playing around with an "extinction virus" which is 100% fatal, 100% of the time, the virus got away from them somehow, and there is no known cure. Let's say it is the ultimate super-virus and its release constitutes an ELE (Extinction Level Event). Now what?

It has already jumped the quarantine line in multiple countries, the transmission is hyper-virulent, and nothing can stop it. World society as we know it will crumble, economies will fail and the world will descend into chaos with billions running amok. That's the "End". If that's what it comes to, I'm definitely not goin' out at gunpoint with a boot on my neck.

Hope you don't live in a welfare HUD rental house in a big warm city.

Forgive me for being thick here but if the Singapore super spreader/normal spreader passed this on asymptomatic. He even went to the pub the day before presenting to A&E doesn't this have to be airborne? Ie he infected those people in France before a cough/sneeze?
I hope I'm being dumb .
Also any updates on those at Arrowe Park. Why did someone want to leave? Just frustration or something else?

Nope. In the country, own home, 5 acres, well water, backup heat, generator to power well if needed. 5 plus months of food for family of 5. 6 tyvec suits, head covers, goggles, 50+ pair of nitrile gloves, booties, 18 N95 masks, reperator with P100 filters, fogger with disinfectant. 2 big dogs, and firearms for hunting and protection.

Maybe not, I'm sure from what I've read it that can be passed on through bad hygiene as well. So maybe not washing hands after using the bathroom ? Or maybe something as simple as rubbing his eyes then touching someone else. I'm not sure how easy it is to catch that way.

I See they say the quarantine for the Diamond Princess cruise ship is scheduled to end on February 19.

If they just confirmed additional infected passengers yesterday, that could have been spreading virus at least up til Feb 9, that will effectively only be a 10 day quarantine after these contagious people were taken off ship

I agree, don't think masks etc will necessarily stop it but do think they will increase your chances of being safe, not sure by how much.

You've inspired me to look into decontamination protocols

Had Guardia twice myself, disgusting disease, most recently after fires here in Aus from washing in the creek. Was pretty damn dirty, tanks were empty, shoulda known better, lots of dead animals from fires, paid the price.

Yeah, I knew it was serious dehydration when I nearly passed out walking down the (short) driveway.

I should learn decon protocols too. Obviously, "winging it" = failure. I wonder if one of our experts here could post how to do it to avoid transfer infection? Maybe they know of a good training video?

Thanks for all the work you did with the fires. My heart broke for you guys.

You're not being thick at all, we are just being treated as if we are by our governments.

We are told that passengers on the same plane as Mr Super Spreader are not at risk as he was not showing symptoms and so not infectious... HE'S ON HIS WAY BACK FROM INFECTING A WHOLE FAMILY!!!

5 million did not flee Wuhan.

They left Wuhan to visit family around China and world. It’s tradition during Spring Festival (aka Chinese New Year) to go to your hometown to see family.

In the last decade, it’s more and more common for young Chinese people to go abroad during this time.

Most China news people will take at least a 1 week holiday and many will take 2 weeks.

This is what normal Chinese folks do. No one was fleeing. By the time the virus was on the news or strong actions being taken those people were at their destination or were well on their way. I explained all this 2 times in first thread and again here.

The other issue is people around China who are from Wuhan would have traveled there to visit family and gone back home. That’s why we are seeing people being sealed up at home across China. I keep thinking that China’s actions are based on “if you were in Wuhan in January you’re infected”.

I understand people do TLDR but ask questions guys if you’re late to the thread please.

Yes, it is. Heard it straight from the horse's mouth (former SWAT, military police, etc.) I hope he was kidding, but I don't know.
