The timeline I am working with is based on averages.

Average of 5 days incubation (3 to 13 day window)

Average of 7 days mild symptoms. If you beat it here, you are generally fine with no need of hospital.

After 7 it tends to worsen to need medical care, average of 15 days to die or 25 to recover.

Because this is biology, two living things interacting, it does not fit a perfect, predictable line. It's more like a bell curve with outliers representing extremes of interaction all over the place. Given time, however, you will start to see clustering. The timeline will tighten and adjust.

We'll get a clearer picture.

Give it a rest. My husband works with colleagues in China and has Chinese coworkers who have family back in China. You better believe this is very, very real, but at the same time his career has been working in and around disease. Knowledge has a way of blunting panic.

I was mocking the ones who say this is nothing.

I introduced myself on page 125. I will begin to add updates on here when I think it appropriate in regards to both my work location and home life here in the UK.

1. Home: My wife has shown me a text message from a school. Nothing new in that, it's a school news/info letter. What is interesting is there is a section on sanitation in respect to the Coronavirus.

2. The location where I am stationed has begun to put up signs in regards to sanitation and the Coronavirus. Not surprising though, we have notices for many things.

Personal opinion situation: Be concerned, be prepared but no need to worry at the moment. We are being lied to and the Govt is purposely under reporting and down playing events for the sake of public/social order. On the virus origin - I am open minded - lab created or natural event, it could be either or. Putting my military head on and looking at the video clips of people convulsing/shaking coming out of China, looks to me like the result of an attack on the body's nervous system.

We were talking about the ruling class, the regime and someone said "you can't tar all people with the brush of what people did years ago (when referencing China today)" and then qualified it with "it's like blaming Germans today".

What I said was in Germany the regime was the Nazis, it was the Nazis who implemented those ideologies and behaviour.

But that regime came to an end.

In China the regime that caused all of those deaths in the past is still in power - the young people then are in power now, so it would not be surprising if they took a hard line.

I was not calling Germans Nazis, and really some of you need to take off the "I want to find something to be offended by" hats and actually read what people say instead.

Rather than trying to evoke your own spin on it.

Someone I know via work (an American) is currently quarantined on the Princess cruise ship. They have internet access and she's posting on facebook. They don't have the virus (so far) but they and everyone else on the ship aren't allowed to leave their rooms at all for 14 days. The passengers have created a closed facebook group and are sharing videos with each other from their rooms.

Most of us carry partial immunity to most strains of flu. It trickles through the population very rarely hitting enough people all at once to cause major disruption.

Because none of us carry partial immunity to this, it will tear through the entire population all at once in wave. It will cause major disruption because everyone will be sick and even though it won't necessarily kill more people than the flu would, more people will get this, they all get it at once, and they will all die at once.

Trust me. 2% doesn't sound like a lot but in a city like Wuhan? That's a mountain of bodies, they are piling up right now, and if that wave breaks here? Even at just 2%, we'll see the same.

It's all conjecture an all sides at this point. We do not have complete data to work with. Averages (or maybe median) is also conjectural. I am waiting for end of February or first week of March before I say anything matter of factly.

I don't think you are understanding how most of that "debt" works. It is mostly tied up in US treasury bills (a lot of them being 10- or 30-year T-bills). So they cannot just demand they be paid back until the T-bill maturity dates

Exactly. I work in finance. Only payment would be in bonds that matured. Plus, the U.S. Dollar is the reserve currency of the world. For the most part, if you want oil, you must use U.S. Dollars.

Pretty sure the people in quarentine in canary islands are also caucasian, someone posted a link to a article a while ago which had a pic of the people on a balcony. I'm sure there will be alot more infected with it of all ethnicities, why would it have to mutate to infect someone of another race? Can I not catch a virus off of someone of another race normally without it mutating?

Also just read another evacuation flight coming into uk on sunday morning this time being quarantined in milton keynes

I read about that cruise ship docking in Bayonne, NJ. Two passengers were showing symptoms of the virus, rushed to the hospital, and two others were immediate family who are just being monitored.

The other passengers were cleared and allowed to leave with just a simple screening. Oh, lordy. They're obviously not following in the same footsteps as the Princess cruise and quarantining everyone.

This is like saying that because many people believe the quite substantial evidence that the DNC and the Ukrainians did in fact 'meddle in the 2016 elections', that means that the Russians didn't. Sorry, it isn't an either/or question.

It is very possible - I think even likely - that there is something extremely serious going on in China, with WuHan at its epicenter, but that whatever it is, it isn't the 'CoronaVirus', they are simply using that as a cover to desperately try to keep whatever it was that got out of their lab a secret - and they are also using this chaos to do away with as many known dissidents as possible at the same time.

So, while I am one who thinks there is ZERO to fear from the CV based on the current known facts and evidence - subject to change of course with new facts/evidence - that doesn't mean I have a desire to go to WuHan and be exposed to whatever it is that escaped their lab.

It's clearly not ust a virus that effects Chinese people, I don't really understand why anyone would cling to that hope.

It started in China God knows when, the Chinese have been exposed to it for God knows how long, so they are God knows how much farther down the infection > symptoms > illness > outcome route than we are.

The white typically English guy on the ship "is confirmed but shows no symptoms" doesn't mean he won't develop symptoms and illness and maybe even end up among the dead.

We're just so far behind the curve that we aren't seeing what this is going to do or how far it's going to spread - yet.

We're probably in the same phase of mind that the Chinese were 2 months ago - and look at them now.

That's undoubtedly where we're going to end up. Soon.
