A cheery hello to one and all. I wonder how many lurkers are out there? I had to plant more bushes for you guys to hide behind. Sorry I haven't been throwing donuts out lately. I'm having the pixies make some as we speak.

I hope your day is a great one! Glad you liked the cover

I too am glad the sun is shining although it is May in Colorado so we should get one more snow storm if the past is any indication.

We have insane weather here. It can snow a foot and the next day it's 65 and the snow has melted.

And since it seems you are always the hostess here I'm telepathically sending a box of Voodoo Donuts your way!

Lastly, to GORDI, awesome. I kinda learned the same way.

And I have to say I personally love the phrase "Keep on keeping on".

Back to waves of life!

Did you notice that I squeezed a couple of my own songs into the last set that I did?

It's REALLY hard singing to a phone!!!!! You have NO IDEA if it sounds OK, whether anyone's watching or what they think of it!!! MUCH scarier than playing live - that freaked me out a bit the first couple of times, but I'm getting a little more used to it now... I think!!

Keep doing originals Gordi! Loved them! Your fear will fade in time. I found you quite amusing in the vids and that made it fun along with the singing and guitar playing that were just wonderful!

Thank you so, so much for offering your song to us. I really enjoyed it. Ok, it was cool and I loved it! True, there were a few little things you would tweak if you had the time to do more takes, and ditto in the mix (which was still pretty darned good), but your performance has an edge to it that I really like.

I worked semi-professionally with a rock & blues band for several years, doing lots of gigs in smaller venues plus some shows at major outdoor music festivals, so I got to know a lot of top pro musos -- and largely because of their influence I'm also very picky. IOW I'm a tough critic, and that always went double in respect of my own performances!

I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet. I'm no "star" and I have no illusions about that. Sure, we'd do a show and the audience went home happy -- and that's what you want at the end of the day. But I reckon you're better than just that. Better than I ever was, to be honest.

It comes down to this: some folks have the technical skills and are great players or singers but they lack that little something extra that can't really be defined, it's just there or it isn't...

You've got it.

I wish you all the best in your future performance endeavours.

Did somebody say, "donuts"?

Well, the pixies dropped off some just after dawn, in time for our breakfasts...

That's just a sample. Plenty more available. Just drop by the eatery (upstairs along the main staircase, second floor, third door on the right) and help yourself.

P.S. Sorry to be hogging the thread, but even now it's only 2.30 am east coast US and 7.30 am in the UK. I guess there's not many folks about yet who are free to drop in.

Awww Mike!

Thanks man.
I'm delighted that you saw my (ahem!) performance and that it gave you a wee lift.
THAT right there is what it's all about for me. If I know that even one person has smiled or danced, clapped their hands or sang along then I'm as happy as a very happy bunny indeed!

THANK YOU!

"... I found you quite amusing... I shall not hang you from the gallows... yet!!!" ROFLMAO!!!!

Thanks for your lovely comments... now, where is that old folder full of songs so I can dig out some more of my originals....?

How are you guys doing? Are you feeling a bit better now?

I was going to make a fun reply ... as one does.

The old "God save the Queen ... why, is she sick?"

But then thought better of it. She is 94 and it could happen any time.

How would I feel if she croaked it just after delivering that one liner. Would I even be chucked out of the shed?

Fin reporting for duty at The Shed.

I have been reading, but still i have some catching up to do. I am interested in member music which has been posted here. But i have been so immersed in my own regular playlists due to therapeutic reasons, that i have not done it yet.

I made pizzas. Tomato sauce - mushrooms - pineapple - cherry tomatoes - red onion - garlic - blue cheese - mozzarella cheese - oregano. I did not make the pizza crust because i dislike baking and have never really been good at it. They are frozen ones. I have to eat now, Things have been hard to handle but having a much easier day now.

Hey Bally, I was wondering where you were. I see you're keeping busy and being productive.

I'm glad to be getting away from Winter. It's too long and dreary.

How many more repairs do you have to make?

Yeah, purchased some new chainsaws, polesaw, twin cab utility, duel axle trailer, 45 ton hydraulic log splitter, big ride on mower and trailer (for truey) and another mower and trailer for Al next door. So in the interests of the house my eldest boy here came to stay during the lockdown as he couldn't get shifts for work hence couldn't pay board where he was living and we commenced dropping big trees around the house, block cutting the wood then running it through the log splitter. My youngest lad - 17 old - couldn't go to school so in between on line school work and cooking he was outside operating the log splitter while we cut and loaded it with the block wood. Truey's on top of outside work 6 days but short hours. Come's home, loads up the mower with beverages and strip cuts the areas we work. She also loads up the fires burning stumps as she goes.

Purchased a large shipping container to house the tools and put in a work bench. Need another one for storage of necessities so cleared and leveled an area for that basically next to the first one. We will bridge both with a roof to park the mower and hydraulic log splitter underneath out of the weather.

We have plans to extend one side of the house into a double carport, then have a separate shed and small workshop built nearer to the house. The front of the block was re fenced and now have to work on the boundary fences. Have to engage surveyors to re post a fence line. That will be expensive but will have some piece of mind as one of my neighbors cheekily put a fence line through our property for his cattle. All burnt now. This was discovered by me and my son last month checking the back of the block due to better access after the fire.

Son and I are also working on his rally track which was washed away during the rains. Taking loads of rock down there and filling in the tyre ruts so he doesn't get bogged all the time. Lot of underground water now.

Firing up the large wood stove every day which keeps the house warm at night. Plenty of wood.

Animals are all fine but lost a cat to a snake a couple of weeks ago. Died in the house I saw a large Red Belly Black snake the other day near the house. Went to get hold of it but it slithered into one of the wood piles. Now dubbed the 'snake' pile. Poor 'Cranky' the cat is now all by himself but follows us around with the dogs as we do stuff day to day missing his mate 'Black Cat'. Chooks are 'off the lay'. Dunno why but keep tabs on them twice a day.

So all in all we've been busy each day but I'm drinking a lot of spirits however I don't seem affected that much. If I'm thankful for one thing it's I've taught the young men to cook. Give em a recipe and they plate us up each night.

My regards from bally land. Happy belated birthday mate

Bally

Hahaha! Do we have gallows to hang you from?

I'm feeling better thanks for asking. The antibiotic worked wonders.

Had a plumbing problem that the Landlord fixed for us today. Now we can poop. LOL I know, too much information.

Mark is doing good with his dialysis. All is well, except for wearing masks out in public and having to stand in line to get into Walmart. I have to pick up a couple of prescriptions there this week. My other ones I get at another pharmacy.

Now go dig out some originals for us to listen to. Thank you!

Hi JustMike! Wow, thank you for everything you said.

I have been reading your stories and threads on your profile for the last hour and for you to say such nice things is incredibly humbling.

My younger bro has it, as you say, in spades. This stuff Im posting is him humoring me.

I PROMISE THESE WILL BE THE LAST ONES - I know myself and am compulsive and would ruin this thread like I did the acronym game (I discovered I was really bad at spelling/thinking)

The lyrics are not finished and they will be painfully repetitive because this is how we write our songs. Per usual mix has not really been mixed lol.

Just trying to figure out the pattern on top of the chorus so to speak - our problem is we get together, start from nothing and because I have such a cheap set up (recording on garageband) we usually just stick with the first idea and go.

Its not a great way to write but we always have fun.

This one I hope brings some sunshine to you JustMike! You are in my thoughts.

And this one goes to Night Star, The Hostess who is always kind and thoughtful - another cover but short and to the point!
