Hey Bally, I was wondering where you were. I see you're keeping busy and being productive.
I'm glad to be getting away from Winter. It's too long and dreary.
How many more repairs do you have to make?
Yeah, purchased some new chainsaws, polesaw, twin cab utility, duel axle trailer, 45 ton hydraulic log splitter, big ride on mower and trailer (for
truey) and another mower and trailer for Al next door. So in the interests of the house my eldest boy here came to stay during the lockdown as he
couldn't get shifts for work hence couldn't pay board where he was living and we commenced dropping big trees around the house, block cutting the wood
then running it through the log splitter. My youngest lad - 17 old - couldn't go to school so in between on line school work and cooking he was
outside operating the log splitter while we cut and loaded it with the block wood. Truey's on top of outside work 6 days but short hours. Come's
home, loads up the mower with beverages and strip cuts the areas we work. She also loads up the fires burning stumps as she goes.
Purchased a large shipping container to house the tools and put in a work bench. Need another one for storage of necessities so cleared and leveled
an area for that basically next to the first one. We will bridge both with a roof to park the mower and hydraulic log splitter underneath out of the
weather.
We have plans to extend one side of the house into a double carport, then have a separate shed and small workshop built nearer to the house. The
front of the block was re fenced and now have to work on the boundary fences. Have to engage surveyors to re post a fence line. That will be
expensive but will have some piece of mind as one of my neighbors cheekily put a fence line through our property for his cattle. All burnt now. This
was discovered by me and my son last month checking the back of the block due to better access after the fire.
Son and I are also working on his rally track which was washed away during the rains. Taking loads of rock down there and filling in the tyre ruts so
he doesn't get bogged all the time. Lot of underground water now.
Firing up the large wood stove every day which keeps the house warm at night. Plenty of wood.
Animals are all fine but lost a cat to a snake a couple of weeks ago. Died in the house I saw a large Red Belly Black snake the other day near the
house. Went to get hold of it but it slithered into one of the wood piles. Now dubbed the 'snake' pile. Poor 'Cranky' the cat is now all by himself
but follows us around with the dogs as we do stuff day to day missing his mate 'Black Cat'. Chooks are 'off the lay'. Dunno why but keep tabs on
them twice a day.
So all in all we've been busy each day but I'm drinking a lot of spirits however I don't seem affected that much. If I'm thankful for one thing it's
I've taught the young men to cook. Give em a recipe and they plate us up each night.
My regards from bally land. Happy belated birthday mate
