Had to get the people involved out of the DOJ/FBI/CIA first, needed an Attorney General who wasn't recused from everything Russia investigation, and needed to wait for the Mueller "investigation" to be concluded.

As far as your "counter bombshells" claim, you do realize the latest call for the impeachment inquiry came as soon as word got out that Barr/Durham were in Italy, right? Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

Actually all this started some time ago - when Barr made public he was launching an enquiry to potentially illegal spying on US Citizens. All well before the impeachment debacle, which is the real distraction here.

I know this is a small point, but Comey, Rosenstein, AND Mueller and most of the FBI were all Republicans when this started.

Now, of course, we're talking about the Criminal Charges soon to come for all D's ... but this quote presents an interesting connection between the two:
