There is a debate of how quickly the courts can move to force testimony.
And yes, SCOTUS will defer to the constitution and they can't tell the House that they have to hold a vote to have an impeachment inquiry. The house decides what constitutes that and SCOTUS isn't going to write laws.

The more relevant question is, how long will it take to enforce subpoenas through the courts?

With Nixon, Congress took the more expedient path of simply including Nixon's preventing of witnesses to testify as "Obstruction of Congress" and "Obstruction of Justice" charges in articles of impeachment.

I think that is the path Congress will likely take.

Look - this is really simple. Vote on making an impeachment inquiry in the house - if it passes they can supena anybody they want.

The Trump admin's position is they are not going to participate in a staged media circus - this is not a real impeacment inquiry it is a campaign event.

What you refuse to accept is they don't currently have the votes to do this legitimately. Reports have already come out Tom Stier is threatening dem congressmen to vote for impeachment. They don't want to but they are being strong armed.

Why - because they know there is no legit reason to impeach - and so do you even though you will never admit it.
