You are both right. The last thing most (especially liberal) professors want from a student is for him/her to think freely and actually learn. Just demonstrate that you were listening and that you can recite what you were told and they will be happy to give you passing grades. They are so full of themselves the idea that you remembered what they told you is all they believe you need to be successful. My niece had one professor who said at the beginning of the semester, "If you are planning on a 4.0- forget it. I don't give anyone an A. That would mean you know as much as I do, and you don't."

Of course all of the Universities aren't biased toward the Left, heck, completely Left.

I am not saying that communist economic systems are not inextricably linked with authoritarian political systems, just that they don't have a monopoly on authoritarianism.
