The corruption levels in American politics would turn something like that into an absolute $#!7show here. You saw how the DNC handled the Bernie Sanders/Hillary Clinton issue, and that one was mathematically the correct decision by them based on vote totals from the People. I shudder to imagine how things would look if the US started using the parliament methods.

Basically 140k members of the public(they pay a small amount if money a year to be members), get to choose the next prime minister.

A shining example of true democracy(being sarcastic).

In fact traditional democracy works in Britain by the fact that voters elect the M.P.'s and the M.P.'s effectively choose the Prime Minister. Indirect, like the American Electoral College. This direct party vote doesn't have a logical place in that process, and should not have been introduced.
